The climax of the Yorkshire Premier League season takes place on Sunday at Headingley, where our champions, Appleby Frodingham, take on Bradford League champions Woodlands in the Yorkshire Premier Leagues championship final (10.30 start).

The Bradford League side, who beat Driffield at home in their semi-final last Saturday, are making their third appearance in the final; having twice lost to Yorkshire Premier League North sides in their previous final appearances - Sheriff Hutton Bridge in 2019 and Castleford in 2021 - so will be hoping to make it third time lucky.

Appleby Frodingham will be making their first appearance in the final, having beaten North Yorkshire & South Durham champions Middlesbrough at Brumby Hall last week. In their previous play-off meeting, last season, the Steelmen lost narrowly to Woodlands in the semi-final, so will be hoping to put the record straight this time.

We wish our boys all the very best of luck tomorrow, and hope that they will be able to emulate twice-champions Wakefield Thornes, in bringing the White Rose trophy back to our league.

In addition, there are three YCSPL league matches being played today:

Division 4 - Maltby Miners Welfare v Shiregreen 2nds
Division 7 - Warmsworth 2nds v Ackworth 2nds
Division 8 - Rockingham Colliery 3rds v Scholes

It is the Division 7 game at Warmsworth that carries the greatest significance, as the winner will be promoted alongside Higham 2nds and Brookhouse, whereas only pride is at stake in the other two.
