Clubs bulletin no 17 of 2022 - 19 August

Covering grounds

Given the return to wet weather conditions, clubs are reminded that whenever rain is forecast in the days immediately before the game, and on the morning of the game itself, bowlers’ run-ups should be covered, wherever possible, in addition to the pitch itself (playing condition 12.ii/iii).

Mick Savage Trophy final

The final Mick Savage Trophy final, between Norton Woodseats and Upper Haugh, will take place at Darfield CC, School Street, Darfield, S73 9EZ, this Sunday, 21 August, at 12 noon.

Use of water on grounds

YCB have worked with the Grounds Management Association (GMA) to publish new guidance on:

1. Watering Effectively and Efficiently
2. Watering under drought restrictions
3. Working safely in hot and sunny conditions

This includes guidance on what to do if you are under a Temporary Use Ban (hosepipe ban) or other drought restriction. Clubs could be at risk of prosecution and fines if they are not watering in accordance with the law under Temporary Use Bans. All clubs should read the guidance and act on it. Please ensure that your grounds manager has access to the link and the resources.

The guidance is on the GMA Toolkit for Cricket; a free knowledge resource for cricket grounds managers.
