Clubs' bulletin no 8 of 2023 - 12 May 

David Smith, Wickersley Old Village CC. David Smith’s funeral will be at St. Alban's Church, Wickersley, on Thursday May 25th at 11.30am, followed by a private cremation at Rotherham Crematorium. For anyone who wishes to raise a glass or two in his memory, the wake will be held at the Wickersley clubhouse on Northfield Road afterwards. 

 

 

Pride of Cricket Awards. Over the past three years The Cricketer has run this series of awards designed to recognise the work of members of the cricket community – sponsors LV= Insurance have agreed to back the awards again this year. The awards are aimed at those people who are highly deserving of recognition for their work in the game. There are specific awards for lifetime work, club cricket, community cricket, fundraising, use of media, and for youngsters under 18. Nominations can be made at Pride of Cricket Awards: Nominate | The Cricketer. The nominations process is open until June 1. 

 

Scorers’ WhatsApp group. Steve Ward has created a WhatsApp group for all scorers throughout the League. The intention is to share information about all things connected to scoring, for example, system updates, tips, tricks, and to answer any questions from scorers. Use of non-turf pitches. The facility for clubs in Divisions 7 to 9 to use non-turf pitches next season, subject to Senior Section committee approval of facilities, is only intended to be used where clubs are otherwise unable to find a ground – non-turf pitches cannot be used as an alternative when turf pitches are unfit for play due to weather conditions.
