Clubs' bulletin no 6 of 2023 - 14 April
Club communications. As we indicated at the pre-season meeting, we are reviewing the way we send communications to clubs, and will be creating a mailing list of club officials to whom we send general information that we think clubs need to know, such as these bulletins. Please email Roger Pugh, to let him know the email addresses of those officials at your club that would like to receive this information.
Finances. Clubs are respectfully reminded of the deadlines for payment of ball invoices (26 April) and League subscriptions (30 April).
Live-Streaming. We thank all those clubs who responded to our request for information about their intentions and permission to live-screen their games. The list has been published on the website. If there is no information shown for your club, please pass on the relevant details to Roger Pugh.
Saturday’s fixtures. We are aware that two of the other Premier leagues in Yorkshire decided to rearrange this Saturday’s fixtures. We have decided against this step for three reasons:
there is no clear Sunday into which the full programme could be moved, and moving to a Bank Holiday would involve asking some clubs to play on three consecutive days, whilst allowing games to be rearranged on a piecemeal basis would be a logistical nightmare, as has been shown by the difficulties experienced in rearranging games due to ground issues already this season
we have been consistently told by clubs that they do not want more Sunday/Bank Holiday cricket
it does not seem logical to rearrange the first weekend’s fixtures when we would not consider similar action later in the season
We will, however, review the whole question of wiped-out programmes to see whether there are practical steps we could take in the future, and make proposals to clubs if appropriate.
In the meantime, the League chairman wrote out to all clubs to advise that, on this occasion, games could postponed after 10.00am on Friday if there was clearly no chance of play.
