Clubs' bulletin no 7 of 2023 - 28 April
Addressing enquiries to league officials. To help clubs to ensure that they contact the right league officials about their enquiries, we have published a list of League contacts on the website.
Cancellation procedures. In the event of inclement ground or weather conditions, clubs are encouraged to communicate with each other before games. If the home side believe that the ground will be unfit for play, they should contact the visiting club no later than three hours before the scheduled start time. If both sides are in agreement, the game may be cancelled. If either side insists that the game is not cancelled, it should not be, but if there is subsequently no play, the side that has refused to cancel will be liable to pay match expenses as in Administrative rule 18. If the game is cancelled, the home club is responsible for verbally notifying both umpires and the relevant umpires appointments officer.
ECB funding. The League Executive Board has agreed the principles for the distribution of ECB funding to our clubs in 2023.
Promotion & relegation 2023. The arrangements for promotion and relegation in 2023 have now been agreed by the League Executive Board. There are two versions of these; one for if a club achieves promotion to the YCSPL from the Pontefract & District League, and one for if this is not the case. Unfortunately, whether this will occur may not be known until the end of the season.
Umpires training. Two sessions of umpiring training have been arranged in Sheffield – stage one (11 June) and stage two (18 June) – please click on the links for more information and to register for the courses.
Use of social media. Clubs are reminded of the provisions of the League Electronic Media policy, which states that, ‘no-one connected to the League must email, message, or post any material that might bring League into disrepute. In particular, abuse, threats, personal insults, and discriminatory language in any post connected with the League will not be tolerated.’ Please ensure that all members of your club are aware of this. Breaches of this policy will be dealt with as a disciplinary matter.
Reminders
Please remember to respond to last week’s letter to club secretaries about club contacts by emailing Roger Pugh, to let him know the email addresses of those officials at your club that would like to receive general information, such as this bulletin.
Please ensure that invoices for subscriptions are paid by the due date of 30 April
If your club has not already done so, please let Roger Pugh know whether your club intend live-streaming games this season, and whether your club is content for your away games to be live-streamed. This information is being collated for reference in a list on the League website.
