Scorer training

Our scoring manager, Steve Ward, is working on a programme of training for scorers over the close season. Last winter was a very successful training period, with over 20 courses across just four months. This winter, Steve is anticipating running at least as many courses, and would welcome clubs getting in touch with him to let him know their scorer training needs for 2024 - contact Steve

Umpire recruitment

The League, in conjunction with the South Yorkshire Cricket Umpires Association, is making every effort to address our shortage of umpires. Three recent initiatives to support this are:

Officials Recruitment & Retention Strategy. Our Strategy to address the shortage of match officials has now been published, and we will be discussing how clubs can support this at the forthcoming AGM.
Recruitment video. The video, to support our efforts to recruit officials, was released last month, and can be viewed on our Facebook page here.
Umpires ‘Get Togethers’. Organised by Terry Bateman and Bryan Lowe, these are monthly meetings for new and experienced umpires to share experiences and get support in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Anyone interested in taking up umpiring will also be very welcome. The meetings are held at 7.00pm at Whiston Forge CC, Guilthwaite Hill, Whiston, Rotherham S60 4HQ and the next one is on Tuesday 21st November.
