Clubs' bulletin no 4 of 2023 - 20 March

Female umpire conference. ECB are organising a first of its kind free national conference for female umpires on Saturday 15 April 2023. The event will run between 10am and 4pm and is aimed at:

• females who are aged 16+
• current female umpires who are either ECB ACO members or umpire in club cricket
• females who occasionally umpire in all cricket environments
• females who may wish to or are likely to umpire in the coming season

The day will provide an opportunity for participants to network with other females and share ideas and experiences; learning opportunities through a series of workshops; the latest information about officiating opportunities and pathways; and an opportunity to hear and speak with some inspirational cricket role models.

The coference will be held at Venue Cranfield in Bedfordshire – where there is accommodation available for conference attendees at a special rate for dinner, bed and breakfast if required. To register please click here

Premier Section pre-season captains’ meeting. A meeting has been arranged for the captains of all Premier and Championship Division teams for Monday 3 April by Zoom at 7.00pm. If the team captain cannot join in, the vice-captain should attend. The meeting is scheduled to last approximately one hour, and the agenda and joining information will be issued in advance.

Premier Section scorers’ refresher training. Two sessions will be held on Saturday 25 March at Whiston Parish Church CC, starting at 9.30am and 12.30pm. All Premier Division and Championship Division scorers should attend one of these sessions. Please let Steve Ward know which session your scorer can attend, and, more importantly, if he/she cannot attend.

Safe Hands Management System. We are now coming to a critical stage of pre-season, where all clubs must to be compliant on the ECB Safe Hands Management System ready for the 2023 season. The ECB require all leagues and clubs to comply as a key part of safeguarding and protecting children, young people, vulnerable adults, and all volunteers within cricket.

The YCB South Yorkshire team since last November are offering support and guidance through the process.

The key deadline for clubs’ SHMS to be up-to-date for the season and fully compliant is 30th April 2023. In the event of any queries or help being required, clubs should contact Gareth Davis
