Bonus points in Divisions 3 to 9
Senior Section clubs will be aware that there has been an issue over the award of bonus points in abandoned games in Divisions 3 to 9, following the voting at the AGM. It was not possible to implement the agreed new points system, as clubs did not approve the count back once 20 overs had been completed in the 2nd innings. Without the countback system, abandoned games could see teams being awarded more points than tied games. The Head of Senior Section has consulted clubs, the Senior Section committee, and the League Executive Board, and has decided that, for 2024, the countback proposal, rejected at the AGM, will be used to gain a result where possible in abandoned games. This will enable the new agreed bonus point rule to be used. The relevant League Playing Conditions are 19.ii , 19.iv & 19.v. We will revisit this issue during the season and put a formal proposal to the AGM for 2025 onwards.

Clubmark and Safe Hands Management System
As the League Executive Board meeting on 25 March, Gareth Davis recorded his thanks to the overwhelming majority of our clubs, who have updated details to ensure compliance online.

Fitness of Premier Section grounds for 20 April
The Head of Premier Section will issue a form for completion by all Premier Section clubs this Wednesday, which will enable us to assess the potential fitness of their grounds for play on 20 April, given that most clubs are behind where they would want to be in terms of preparation. This will enable an early decision can be made as to whether games should go ahead on that day. Co-operation by clubs in returning the form promptly would be very much appreciated.

Annual subscription invoices will be generated on 1st April 2024 on Play-Cricket. Please check your club’s Action Centre to access the invoice. Payment is due by 30th April 2024. Cricket ball order invoice payments are due by 12th April 2024.

Play-Cricket
It is good practice now to register all junior cricketers that are capable and have the required ability to play in the YCSPL and who have not yet been registered on Play-Cricket, in order to avoid any registration issues once the season starts. All juniors over 13 can register their own Play-Cricket accounts and add their parents’ details.
