Cancelling games – Playing Condition 12
If it is clear that there is going to be no prospect of play on the day of the game, and both sides agree, there is no reason not to cancel the game earlier in the week. This will allow players to make other plans and officials to be allocated elsewhere.
Once a game is called off, the first point of contact is the relevant umpires appointments officer. Last Saturday there were numerous instances of umpires being sent to games that were called off, because the appointments officer was unaware of the cancellation. This does not help us make the best use of a limited umpiring pool.
Ground needed for under 13s
On Sunday 19 May, South Yorkshire under 13s play North Yorkshire under 13s (11.00am start). The game was to have been hosted by Wakefield Thornes but their ground is now required for a rearranged K3 Dental cup-tie. If your club can help the under-13s, please contact Roger Pugh.
Playing condition 16.vi – reductions to bowlers’ overs limits
Following a recent query, we wish to clarify that the rule should be interpreted exactly as written, ‘The maximum number of overs that a bowler may bowl will be reduced pro-rata if the number of overs in the innings is reduced before the start of the innings.’ Therefore, if the number of overs in an innings is reduced after the start of the innings, no reduction is made in respect of bowlers’ overs.
Safeguarding risk assessments
YCB are to conduct some random safeguarding risk assessments at clubs, without advance warning. All clubs should ensure that proper safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. If you need any advice, please contact Lindsay Pepper.
Spoof emails purporting to come from the League
There have been a number of recent reports of spoof emails purporting to come from League officials. We do not use ‘@ycspl.co.uk’ email addresses to send emails; they are only used for inward-coming emails. All emails received from an ‘@ycspl.co.uk’ email address will be a spoof and should simply be deleted and ignored.
