The third YCSPL presentation dinner took place at the OEC, Owlerton, Sheffield last Saturday, 11 November. The evening was very well received, with around 350 people attending.

Alex Fletcher was a brilliant MC, keeping everything to order with his usual blend of humour and efficiency; and guest speaker Angus Fraser MBE entertained us with a number of amusing reflections on his playing career – in addition to showing infinite good humour and patience in having his photo taken with around 100 prize-winners!

The cups and medals were presented by our League Ambassador, Terry Bentham, and in addition to the already published awards for on-field achievements, Clive Shore of Rockingham Colliery CC was presented with the Harry May Trophy for services to the YCSPL, in recognition of all his many years of service to his club. Shiregreen’s Ann Burdett; David Clayton of Frecheville Community; long-time servant of the SYSCL, Brian Fletcher; Martin Ivill, the highly-respected and prolific former Barnsley and Sheffield Collegiate stalwart; and the late Brian Sissons of Rotherham Phoenix and Tickhill, were popular and well-deserved inductions into the League Hall of Fame

Our grateful thanks go to the OEC, who ensured that everything went smoothly on the night; to our expert photographer John Hobson; to guest speaker Angus Fraser; to Neil Pullen of Readers and Michelle Peacock at MS Sports for their support in donating raffle prizes; to sponsors Nicholas Associates Group; to organisers Linzey Scothern, Graham Swallow and Lindsay Pepper; and to Andrew Payling and Alison Gressor, who raised over £1,000 towards the cost of the event with their prodigious raffle.

The photographs from the night can be found on our website; anyone who would like an electronic HD copy of any of the photos should contact Roger Pugh, stating the numbers of the photos required and giving their email address. There is no charge.
