The League's under 20s side enjoyed a 28-run win over a Yorkshire Academy under 18s side in a T20 game at Shaw Lane, Barnsley last night.

Having elected to bat first, our under 20s made 132-9 in their 20 overs, keeper Ciaran Stenton top-scoring with 30 off 28 balls, whilst most of the top and middle order reached double figures. Wakefield Thornes' all-rounder Jawad Akhtar was the most successful bowler with 3-30, and Barnsley's Harvey Round took 2-19.

When the Academy side batted, there were excellent four-over spells from Joe Norbury (1-11) and Tate Miller (2-11), and eight bowlers were used in a fine all-round team effort that restricted the Academy to 104-6. Akhtar was the Academy's top-scorer too, with 41 off 54 balls.

Although it was a rather dull and cold night, the game was enjoyed by a good sprinkling of spectators, and our thanks go to team manager Phil Chapman, coach Jason Booth, and all at Barnsley Woolley Miners CC for their excellent hosting of the game.
