Here is this week’s round-up of information for YCSPL clubs.

Appleby Frodingham CC. Whilst our champions fell at the Premier Leagues Championship play-off semi-final stage, they gave Bradford League champions Woodlands a real fright. Defending a modest 165, the Steelmen had Woodlands 112-8 in reply, before an unbroken 54-run eighth-wicket stand that took them through. Jamar Ifill (55) and Kieran Lindley (4-40) were the stand-out performers with Frodingham. It has still been a wonderful season for the Steelmen, who won three trophies; and we wish Woodlands the best of luck in the final.

Individual award winners. All winners of divisional batting, bowling, wicket-keeping awards will be decided by the statistics on the YCSPL Play-Cricket website. It is the responsibility of clubs to ensure that all players’ statistics have been correctly recorded on the relevant match scorecards. All relevant clubs will be provided with a list of qualifiers, which must be verified by each club secretary. The qualifying criteria are as below; in the case of batting, determined by the highest batting average; and, in the cawe of bowling, by the lowest bowling average, and in league matches only.
All-rounders. An award for the best all-rounder will be given in each the Premier Section divisions.
Wicket-keeping. A wicket-keeping award will be given for the best wicket-keeper in each Division. The qualification in the Premier Section and Divisions 1-5 will be 20 victims and in Divisions 6 to 8, 16 victims. If two players tie for First Place the winner will be the one who has most stumpings. An award will be given for the best junior wicketkeeper in the League.
Fielding. An award for the player with the most fielding wickets will be given in each the Premier Section divisions.
Junior players. A junior player is one who has not reached his 19th birthday by 31 August in the previous year. Junior players must be indicated accordingly on the Play Cricket website.
Merit awards in the future. The criteria for the awards will now be reviewed and more closely aligned for the future.
