Here is this week’s round-up of information for YCSPL clubs.

Covid issues preventing games from being played. If a club is unable to field a side due to Covid reasons, the provisions of the Covid Contingency Rules (para 6) must be followed. These allow for games to be cancelled, but not postponed.

Cup competitions update. This Sunday, 4 July, sees the quarter-finals of the Mick Savage Trophy. The revised draw is:

Norton Oakes v Aston Hall 2nds
Sheffield Collegiate 3rds v South Kirkby Colliery
Wakefield Thornes 2nds v Norton Woodseats
Whitley Hall 2nds v Rotherham Town

Game start times for Saturday 3 July. We have had a number of enquiries about games starting earlier this coming Saturday, so that people can watch the England v Ukraine Euro game. Provided that both teams and both umpires are in agreement, the start times of games may be brought forward. If any of these parties are not in agreement, the scheduled start time must be observed. If agreement is reached to bring forward start times, the home club must inform Steve Ward (Premier Section games) or David Ward (Senior Section).

League structure. Following the confirmation of clubs joining the league in 2022, club chairmen and secretaries have now been circulated the arrangements for the League’s divisional structure for the 2022 season – see question & answer document with the new structure here

Premier Section leading averages. The leading batting and bowling averages in the Premier Section can be found here

YCB update. YCB have asked us to circulate the following from ECB:

ECB have updated information for clubs on how to deal with Covid-related incidents. ECB point out that this reflects government guidance and requirements, and that at all times clubs and leagues should follow any Government or PHE guidance. The guidance is for use only within clubs, and has been issued directly to club chairmen and secretaries.
ECB are encouraging all clubs to apply for the Inspired to Play Grant, even if they have had an Funds4runs grant previously. The deadline for applying for the grant has been extended to Friday 16 July. When applying, and logging in to the ECB IMS system, clubs need first to register and then, when completing the application, ensure that the ‘type of club’ box is ticked as AFFILIATED CLUB. Otherwise the Inspired to Play Grant will not appear as an option.
