K3 Dental Cup 
 
Five of our teams were in action in the K3 Dental Cup first round games on Monday. There was an all-YCSPL tie at Baxter Field, where Sheffield Collegiate were put in to bat by Whitley Hall and bowled out for 179. George Bartlett (39) and Shaaiq Choudhry (40 not out) top-scored for the visitors, whilst there were three wickets each for Matthew Thompson and Callum Bethel. Montcin Hodge (59) led the way for the home side in their reoply, whilst Bethel completed a fine all-round game with an unbeaten 50 in his side’s four-wicket win. 
 
Three wickets from Josh Knapton helped Cleethorpes bowl Sessay out for 197, after the visitors decided to bat first at Chichester Road. Mayank Mishra (47) and skipper Ian Mansfield (53) then saw the home side home with four wickets and two balls to spare. 
 
Caleb Jewell (83) and Jack Zuurbier (45) helped Doncaster Town to 215-9 against Scarborough at Town Fields after they decided to bat first, and there were three wickets each for James Dobson and James Keast as the visitors were bowled out for 158. 
 
Elsecar decided to bowl first at against Castleford at Savile Park, where Chesney Hughes (66) helped the home side to 176-9, despite 3-20 from Mohammed Ilyas. Callum Higgins made 37 at the top of the order for the visitors, but Calum Rowe’s 4-11 proved decisive, and Castleford won by 45 runs. 
 
Elsewhere, Harrogate beat Beverley Town and Clifton Alliance beat Malton & Old Malton; the game between Hallam and Aston Hall was cancelled and the two sides will try again next Sunday; whilst the Stamford Bridge v Treeton game is still to be rearranged.

Mick Savage Trophy 
 
In the first round of the Mick Savage Trophy at the Al-Murad Stadium on Sunday, Elsecar 2nds asked Thorpe Hesley & High Green to bat first and bowled them out for 136. Callum Johnson’s unbeaten 68 then led the home side to a seven-wicket win inside 30 overs. 
 
Rain brought a premature end to the game at Hatfield Town, where the home side had reached 146-9 in their 40 overs, Ellis Pattison top-scoring with 50, whilst Harry Pollard took 3-25 in his eight overs. The game was then decided on the ten-over scores when Parkhead’s reply was terminated at 40-2 in the eleventh over. 
 
Elsewhere, Norton Oakes beat Norton Woodseats on the toss of a coin; and the Tickhill 2nds v Penistone game will be played next Sunday.
