RULES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association shall be called the South Yorkshire Cricket Umpires Association. It will be governed by a President who will be nominated by a committee, consisting of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and not less than 5 members of the association, who will be elected at the Annual General Meeting for a term of 2 years. One of the elected members to be its representative on the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League Executive Board.
All Umpires officiating in the league shall be paid up members of the Association. The annual subscription will be reviewed each year at the Annual General Meeting or by the Committee. All subscriptions to be sent to the Secretary by November 30th which will relate to membership for the following year.
All new Umpires on entering the League must become members of the Association and must satisfy the Committee of their competence and knowledge on the Laws of Cricket. All new members must be members of ECB ACO and their membership number given to the Association Secretary, along with a valid DBS reference number and issue date.
Wherever possible all new members will officiate with experienced members throughout their first year of Umpiring within the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League.
The Financial Year will run from the 1st October until the 30th September each year, all monies received will be paid into the Association Bank Account. Payments will be made by the Treasurer by internet banking or by cheque from an agreed list of 3 signatories.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
To create a spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship. To improve the efficiency of all Umpires. To secure uniformity of action on the field of play.
To cooperate with the Board of the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League in their efforts to further the progress of the League.
The Association shall meet 4 times per year, February/April/July/November in which the November meeting will constitute the AGM which should take place in the 1st week.
Any proposed alterations to the rules of the Association, together with the names of the proposer and seconder who must be a paid-up member of the Association, must be submitted to the secretary of the Association by the 30th September in any year.
Any meeting of the Association will be deemed to be quorate provided a minimum of one third of the membership are present.
The Umpires Committee will meet monthly during the playing season and as and when required.
In all meetings where a vote by the committee is not conclusive then the Chairman shall have the casting vote.
Should any issues arise affecting the Association that is not provided for in these rules, the Committee shall have the power to deal with them. The decision of the committee will be final and binding.
