Last Sunday, in the Viking Cricket Cup, there were two ties, with mixed success for the YCSPL sides. At Abbeydale, Sheffield Collegiate enjoyed a comfortable 92-run win over Harrogate. Half-centuries from George Bartlett and Shaaiq Choudhry lifted the home side to 229-7, before they bowled out their visitors for 137, with three wickets each for Jamie Carrington and Matt Tyas. At Dark Lane, Cawthorne could manage ony 168 against 2018 winners Woodhouse Grange, despite 80 from Taruwar Kohli. The target was chased down with six wickets and more than 11 overs to spare by the visitors, despite three wickets from Ahmed Matloob.
There is one remaining second round tie to be played, which is Wakefield Thornes v Driffield. This will be played on Sunday 3rd July - the winners will then play Woodhouse Grange. 3rd July is also the quarter-final date and there will be three 'north v south' ties:

Connor Smythe, who top-scored in the game with 54 for Penistone, and then took 4-57 when Woodseats batted, did not deserve to be on the losing side. Half-centuries from Sohail Mohammed and Jared Lovell gave Aston Hall 2nds a useful 194-6 at South Kirkby, where the home side fell 18 short, despite 59 from skipper Steve Secker.
There was a hard-fought three-wicket win for Treeton 2nds at home to Ackworth, for whom Shingi Masakadza made 103 off 69 balls in their 185 all out. Matt Lambert led his side's reply with 73, and they got home with three wickets and seven overs to spare, despite James Clark's 5-32 for the visitors. Upper Haugh held off Doncaster Town 2nds' bid to overhaul their first innings 180-8 at Wentworth Road.
