Weekly clubs bulletin no 4 - 20 May
Posted on 20th May 2021 at 21:21
Here is this week’s round-up of information for YCSPL clubs.
Covid requirements. Home clubs are reminded of the need to communicate with visitors in the week before games, preferably by Tuesday each week, to ensure they are aware of available facilities.
Ground preparation. Clubs are reminded of the requirements of Playing Condition 11 and to ensure that all possible action is taken to ensure that games go ahead. This is necessary irrespective of the weather forecast. Clubs failing to observe this rule will be liable to sanctions, which may include points deductions.
League and sponsor names. As a new league, with newly-sponsored competitions, it is important that we get our names right. We ask clubs to ensure that they always use the correct name for the League (‘Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League’ or ‘YCSPL’) on their websites, social media, information for the press, and other communications. Our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram addresses are '@yscplcricket'. Please remember that the Premier division should be referred to as the Nicholas Associates Premier Division; and the Whitworth Cup as the ExtraCover Insurance Whitworth Cup.
Memorandum of Understanding between the YCSPL and the Pontefract & District Cricket League. The MoU has now been signed and is published on our website.
National Knock-Out Cup. Barnsley and Elsecar will play their first round game at Shaw Lane next Thursday on a ‘T20 format’ – 6.00pm start.
Premier division captains’ meeting. A meeting will be held for Premier division captains on Monday 7 June (7.00pm by Zoom) to talk about match reports. Steve Ward will issue a link for captains to use to participate. Attendance is compulsory.
Electronic scoring. The ECB sets targets for electronic scoring of 35% for cricket leagues nationally. The current YCSPL performance is 73%, which is very good – but we would like it to be still better, in particular because electronic scoring allows games to be on live scores. Live scores enable people to follow your club’s teams if they cannot be at the game, and they generate publicity for your club and the League. Electronic scoring using Play-Cricket Scorer can be done on a laptop, tablet or smartphone. If you need any help or advice about electronic scoring or live scores, please contact Steve Ward.
Detail. The more detail your scorers record; for example, the number of balls faced by each batsman, the fall of wickets, and the score of the ‘not out’ batsman when a wicket falls; the better our news reports and statistics can be. Please encourage your club’s scorers to record as much detail as possible.
YCB update. The following is a round-up of information received from YCB since the last update:
