Weekly clubs bulletin no 19 – 2 September 2021
Posted on 3rd September 2021 at 06:54
Here is this week’s round-up of information for YCSPL clubs.
Annual Awards night. The first YCSPL Annual Awards Night will be held on Saturday 6 November in the Big Hall at the Magna Complex, Rotherham (6.45 for 7.15pm). The MC is Alex Fletcher and guest speaker is former professional footballer turned after-dinner speaker and comedian John Stiles. All places to be booked and paid for through your club’s Play-Cricket website by the closing date of 8 October.
Change to E10 fuel. Clubs should be aware of the impact of impending change in unleaded fuel from E5 to E10 on club machinery. Some older lawn-mower petrol engines will not run on E10. There is also a danger that, by leaving this fuel in machines over the winter, fuel systems and engines could be ruined. E5 will still be available on the forecourts but it will be the ‘Super’, more expensive, fuel. Currently, only the basic unleaded petrol is moving to E10.
Cup update
ExtraCover Insurance Whitworth Cup final. The final, between Aston Hall and Sprotbrough, will take place at Wath CC this Sunday, 5 September, at 12 noon. All are welcome!
Mick Savage Trophy final. Congratulations to Rotherham Town CC, who won the Mick Savage Memorial Trophy by beating Sheffield Collegiate 3rds by 25 runs at Darfield CC on Sunday.
Viking Cricket Yorkshire Leagues KO Cup final. Appleby Frodingham meet Driffield in the final this coming Sunday, 5 September, at Woodhouse Grange CC. We wish our new champions all the very best for the game.
YSCPL t20 Blast finals. Congratulations again to Appleby Frodingham CC, who followed up their Premier League championship success on Saturday by winning the first YCSPL T20 Blast title, beating Barnsley Woolley Miners CC by seven wickets in the final at Town Fields, Doncaster on Monday. In the semi-finals, Barnsley beat Elsecar and Appleby Frodingham beat Cawthorne.
ECB Safe Hands Management System (SHMS). All clubs are reminded of the need to be ‘Safe hands’ compliant. In particular, Premier League clubs must be fully compliant, or will not be allowed to play in a PL; and clubs will not be allowed to hold a license to engage Tier 5 overseas professionals if they are not fully compliant.
Hall of Fame. This is a reminder to clubs about the league ‘Hall of Fame’. This is to recognise individuals’ outstanding contributions and service to clubs in our league. We intend to induct six new members to the Hall of Fame at the end-of-season function. If your club would like to nominate anyone, please contact Graham Swallow with brief details.
League AGM. The first YCSPL AGM will take place on 15 November 2021 (venue tbc). Any nominations for Board/Committee positions and proposals for rule changes should be sent to the LEB secretary, Graham Swallow, by 30 September.
YCB News. A cricket first aid course will be held at Hollinsend Methodist CC, 80 Fox Lane, Sheffield S12 4WT on Thursday 9 September (6pm-9pm) – cost £30pp. Contact claire@directactiontraining.com.
