In the Premier Division, Wakefield Thornes consolidated their place at the top with a big win over Wickersley Old Village. Kieran Donnachie (64) and James Rhodes (111 off 102 balls) put on 147 for the first wicket and Uzair Mumtaz hit an unbeaten 84 off 53 balls as the hosts posted a commanding 369-6. The League’s leading wicket-taker, Charlie Bourne, then took 4-23 to help bowl Wickersley out for 61 in reply. Cawthorne pulled off a remarkable win away to Doncaster Town and move up into second place. James Ward (68) and Taylor Fell (72) put on 155 for the third wicket, and were the main contributors to the hosts’ 279 all out, Mustafa Shinwari taking 6-68 for Cawthorne. Aryan Varsani made 123 when the visitors replied, but when he was eighth out, 41 were still needed, and Cawthorne won by one wicket with one ball to spare. Sheffield Collegiate missed the opportunity to put pressure on the leaders when they were beaten at home by Appleby Frodingham. Jack Timby (93) and Abdul Faseeh (58) put on 130 for Collegiate’s first wicket, Sheryaar Ali weighed in with 57, and the hosts posted 244-5. Skipper Alex Grimes led the visitors’ response with 99, and with 20s and 30s in support down the order, Frodingham earned a two-wicket win in the 48th over. Whitley Hall also lost ground on the leaders after they were bowled out by Hallam for 152 at Crimicar, James Smedley taking 4-58; Edward Burch (58) then rescued the hosts from 13-3 to help them complete a two-wicket win, despite Biswick Kapala’s 4-24 for the visitors. Mayank Mishra (4-43) and Harry Clewett (4-27) helped Cleethorpes bowl Tickhill out for 109 at Chichester Road, and the hosts completed a seven-wicket win in 27 overs. Mohammad Khan (90) and Bilal Hanif (75) put on 112 for Shiregreen’s second wicket against Barnsley Woolley Miners at Shaw Lane and they posted 267-9, Sean Whitehead taking 4-65 for the hosts. Skipper Owen Smith made 54 at the top of the order when Barnsley replied, but they fell well short on 175-9.
It is ‘as you were’ at the top of the Championship Division after all of the top five sides won. Skipper Robert Grace and Rory Daburger both contributed 72 to leaders Doncaster Town 2nds’ 273-9 against Aston Hall at Green Lane. Then Ollie Wainwright also made 72 in the hosts’ reply but they fell 54 short on 217-7. Second-placed Sprotbrough bowled Rockingham Colliery out for 128 at Hoyland Common, then edged to a two-wicket win in the 47th over. Bilal Afzal (105 off 85 balls) and Joe Norbury (141 off 134) put on 197 for Whiston Parish Church’s first wicket against Oughtibridge War Memorial at Church Fields, then the division’s top run-scorer, Arman Jaffer hammered an unbeaten 105 off 56 balls to take the hosts to 411-5. Tom Bolland took 4-32 when Oughtibridge replied, and they were 38-6 before skipper Will Cooper gave them a degree of respectability with 73, and they were all out for 157. Shingi Masakadza hit an unbeaten 86 off 82 balls to help Ackworth post 238 at home to bottom side Wath, for whom Jay Smith took 5-50. Sam Bowden made 52 when the visitors replied, but Eddie Cole took 4-19, and they were all out for 142. Muhammad Khan took 4-39 for Tickhill 2nds against Sheffield Collegiate 2nds when the visitors made 174-9 at the Brookfield Oval, but Tickhill were bowled out for 142 in reply. At Washfield Lane, Callum Higgins made 61 at number nine to boost Elsecar from 105-7 to 206-9 against Treeton, whilst Mark Cummins took 4-44 for the hosts; then skipper Haider Jahangir took 4-21 when Treeton were bowled out for 118 in reply.
Division 1 leaders Upper Haugh posted 284-9 at home to Conisbrough, with 88 from Ali Asghar and 65 from Connor Sanderson. There were four wickets for Nathan Chadburn, who followed up with 51 when the visitors replied, but Samuel Thompson took 5-19, and they were all out for 170. Anees Hussain (58) came to the rescue for second-placed Darfield, who were 71-7 at home to Penistone. The hosts went on to made 152 all out, Connor Smythe taking 5-52; but Jabari Mills took 7-22 when the visitors replied, and they were all out for 45. Dave Rodgers (69) and Jack Hall (68) put on 147 for Coal Aston’s first wicket at home to Wickersley Old Village 2nds, then Jon Trower added 54, and they reached a formidable 299-6. Michael Hunter then took 5-61 when the visitors were bowled out for 235 in reply, Liam Heathcote making 54 and Aqeel Ahmad 94 off 66 balls. Syed Sadat took 6-23 for fourth-placed Warmsworth, who bowled Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds out for 135 at Common Lane, and they then eased to a four-wicket win in the 38th over. Houghton Main continued their recent good run, Noman Waheed contributing 63 at the top of the order in their 217 all out against Whitley Hall 2nds at Baxter Field, Rehan Khan taking 4-44. Zain Maqsood then took 7-43 for the visitors, and Whitley were all out for 121, opener Chris Siddall carrying his bat for an unbeaten 65, whilst no-one else made double figures.
Jason Mills took 5-52 for Division 2 leaders Frickley Colliery when they bowled Wakefield Thornes 2nds out for 97 at Field Lane on their way to a seven-wicket win in 22 overs. Jack Snelling retired not out on 50 in second-placed Hallam 2nds’ 194 all out against Elsecar 2nds at the Al-Murad Stadium, Musa Altaf taking 4-67 for the hosts. Altaf followed up with 59 at the top of the order in the reply, adding 107 for the second wicket with Oliver Blackburn (56), but Noah Murphy took 4-34 and Elsecar lost their last nine wickets for 59 to finish on 185. The League’s top-run scorer, Brennan Wilson, made 68 to pass 1,000 league runs for the season, whilst Harry Sullivan contributed an unbeaten 84, in Cawthorne 2nds’ 271-6 at home to Aston Hall 2nds. In reply, Daniel Bothma made 69, but Thom Macrow took 6-25 and they were all out for 199. Bottom side Sheffield United made 212 all out away to promotion-chasing Norton Woodseats, Shahrukh Khan making 53, and the hosts then had to work hard for their three-wicket win. Thomas Roberts took 5-43 for Parkhead when they bowled Millhouses Works out for 176 at Millhouses Park, in response to Parkhead’s 210-9. Opener Joseph Boyden made 109 and Bavasuthan Selvanayagam 55 for Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds, who made 294-7 at home to Thorpe Hesley & High Green. The visitors were all out for 168 in reply, despite 50s for Rasheed Eddy and Ashley Reynolds, Mack Collinson taking 4-43 for the hosts.
Joshua Cross top-scored in Norton Oakes’ 174-9 against Hatfield Town in the battle of the top two in Division 3 at Carr Side Lane, then he took three wickets when the hosts were bowled out for 155 in reply. Luke Roddison took four wickets for Wath 2nds at home to Sheffield Collegiate 3rds, who made 235-7; then Rafy Sharpe took 4-32 to help Collegiate bowl the hosts out for 194, despite James Barnard’s 80. Khurram Shazad made 52 in Shiregreen 2nds’ 175 all out at home to Rockingham Colliery 2nds, then Muhammad Naseem took 5-24 when the visitors were all out for 129 in reply. Louis Fairest (66) top-scored for Frecheville Community in their 291-8 against Higham at Royd Lane, then Neil Ramsden took 4-47 when the hosts were all out for 194 in reply, leaving Brad Gledhill high and dry on 61 not out. In a low-scoring game at Park Road, Mark Wilkinson took 5-19 to help Worsbrough Bridge bowl Treeton 2nds out for 121; then five bowlers shared the wickets when Bridge were all out for 103 in reply. Nathan Appleyard (50) and Mark Williams (56) put on exactly 100 for Bradfield Village Fellowship’s third wicket in their 199 all out at home to Sheffield Caribbean; James Shepherd then took 6-39 when the visitors were bowled out for 152 in reply, with only Andrew Jackson (67) offering sustained resistance.
A fine all-round bowling effort helped Division 4 leaders Sprotbrough 2nds to bowl Sheffield University Staff out for 148, then opener Louis Richardson (55) led the way for the visitors’ three-wicket win. Second-placed Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds lost ground on the leaders after skipper Alex Gough had helped them bowl Barnby Dun out for 152 at Glass Park. James Copley then took 6-45 to help bowl Barnsley out for 109 in reply. Suthaharan Nadesapillai (50) and Joseph Bullock (45) put on 106 for the sixth wicket in third-placed Kexborough’s 167 at home to fellow promotion-contenders Thorncliffe & Wentworth, for whom Shaik Azeez took 4-33. Skipper Darren Schofield then made an unbeaten 48 in vain, as his side were all out for 114 in reply. Jack Kettleborough made 55 and Charlie Wall 58 retired not out in Sheffield Collegiate 4ths’ 183-4 against Coal Aston 2nds, for whom opener Richard Mintoft made 54 in their seven-wicket win. Stocksbridge may be tenth in the table, but they are only 12 points away from the third promotion spot after their seven-wicket win away to Wombwell Main; Josh Stevens (4-27) helped the visitors bowl Wombwell out for 129, then opener Rob Taylor (51) and skipper Andrew Hirst (56) put on 126 for the second wicket to ensure a Stocksbridge win. Jawad Asgher (4-38) and Muraad Ghani (4-24) combined to bowl Doncaster Town 3rds out for 139 at home to Upper Haugh 2nds, who recorded a four-wicket win in the 27th over.
Ackworth 2nds lead Division 5 by six points after a straightforward win over Silkstone United at Barnsley Road. Finlay Martin took 4-21 when the hosts were bowled out for 122, then Dinitha Lokuliyanage put on an unbroken second-wicket stand of 123 with Kevin Booth, and was unbeaten on 78 when Ackworth completed a nine-wicket win in the 17th over. There was a low-scoring win for second-placed Hatfield Town 2nds, who were bowled out for 139 away to Conisbrough 2nds, for whom Kripal Singh took 6-41. Carl Walton then took 5-16 when the hosts were bowled out for 93 in reply. Sam Yellops’ unbeaten 54 lifted Hallam 3rds from 108-5 to 205-7 against Fishlake at Sandygate, then Harry Spence took 4-15 when the visitors were bowled out for 84 in reply. Umair Alam took 4-24 when Warmsworth bowled Maltby Miners Welfare out for 142 at Muglet Lane, and four bowlers shared the spoils when the visitors were bowled out five short in reply. Omar Waine (67) and Adam Purshouse (91) added 163 for Whiston Forge’s second wicket in their 290-9 against Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Guilthwaite Hill, Fida Hussain taking 5-61 for the visitors. In Division 6, leaders Waverley maintained their 20-point led with a convincing success at home to Mexborough Athletic. Forties from Lee Jeffries and Adeel Rauf took the visitors to 150-8, but in reply, Nideesh Alukkal (51) led the way to the hosts’ eight-wicket win. Second-placed Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds had a similarly convincing success at home to Scholes & Harley. Opener Ian Couldwell made 73 in the visitors' 152 all out, then skipper James Proctor hit an unbeaten 79 in Thorpe Hesley’s seven-wicket win. Millhouses Works 2nds occupy the third promotion spot after their win over Handsworth Junior SC at Oliver’s Mount. The visitors posted 137-9, before Jon Wynn took 4-30 to help them to a 23-run victory. Jonathan Parker (66) rescued Wickersley Old Village 3rds from 76-7 away to Green Moor, for whom Jake Sharp took 4-48, and they were all out for 158. When the hosts replied, Satvir Singh blasted an unbeaten 98 off 39 balls (11 sixes) and Green Moor completed an eight-wicket win in the 23rd over. Mark Limb took 4-30 for Wadworth when they restricted Whitley Hall 3rds to 128-8, and Addison Senior made 67 in their seven-wicket win. Muhammad Usman took 5-36 for Sheffield Caribbean 2nds when they bowled out Darfield 2nds for 148, but Caribbean were all out for 75 in reply.
Aydin Talib made 68 for Division 7 leaders Sheffield United 2nds in their 208-9 at home to Higham 2nds, then Shaheen Momand took 4-22 when the visitors were 149-8 in reply. Four points behind the leaders are Parkhead 2nds, for whom Ben Tribick (60) and Nazam Mohammed (190) put on 231 for their second wicket in their 279-7 at home to Handsworth Junior SC 2nds, who were all out for 138 in reply. Richard Ledger made 48 for Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths in their 165 all out against erstwhile leaders Adwick-le-Street at Woolley. Skipper Steven Dixon then took 5-27 as the visitors were all out for 147 in reply. Joe Haigh’s 61 helped Upper Haugh 3rds to 193-7 against Brookhouse at Rose Lane, then Callum Plummer took 5-30 when the hosts were bowled out for 87 in reply. Skipper Mark Dickinson (60 not out) led Doncaster Town 4ths to 171-7 against Rockingham Colliery 3rds at Stainborough, then Muhammad Shabir took 4-52 when the hosts were all out for 156 in reply. Opener James Hague’s 82 set Stocksbridge 2nds on their way to 229-6 at home to Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds, then Darren Goodson took 4-20 to help them bowl their visitors out for 109 in reply.
Division 8 leaders Houghton Main 2nds recovered from 71-7 to post 168 at home to Hallam 4ths, then Gul Safi took 4-12 to help them bowl their visitors out for 123 in reply. Wombwell Main 2nds missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders when Adam Thorpe (4-40) helped Norton Oakes 2nds bowl them out for 149 at Oakes Park, and Thorpe then completed an excellent all-round performance with an unbeaten 73 to see his side to a three-wicket win. Kexborough 2nds were 118-6 when Thomas Green came to the crease, and his unbeaten 83 off 39 balls lifted them to 232-6 against Monk Bretton 2nds at the Castle Ground. Paul Bowmer made 74 in the hosts’ reply, but Green, with 4-39, and Dale Shillito (4-33) gave Kexborough a 29-run win. Shacheesh Sinha (79) and Daniel Morton (80) put on 124 for Eden Grove Parklands’ first wicket in their 247-7 against Dearne, who were all out for 98 in reply, Githin Kurian taking 5-20.
Corey Hawksworth took 4-40 for Division 9 leaders Frickley Colliery 2nds when they bowled third-placed Worsbrough Bridge 2nds out for 120, and Marcus Heppinstall was unbeaten on 59 when they completed a nine-wicket win in the 20th over. Alan George (61) and Midhun Mohan (84 off 44 balls) were the top run-scorers in second-placed Waverley 2nds’ 301-6 away to Fishlake 2nds, for whom Ethan Stoddart was unbeaten on 52 when they were bowled out for 132 in reply. Sheffield University Staff 2nds kept pace with the leading group by a narrow margin when they hosted Elsecar 3rds. Chasing 124 to win, they were indebted to a patient unbeaten 29 from number four batsman Kumar Shekhar, who steered them to a one-wicket win, despite Jack Pearson’s 4-27 for the visitors. Adam Gibson took 6-14 when Frecheville Community 2nds bowled bottom side Wath 3rds out for 81 at the Hobson Bowl, and Jack Dransfield was unbeaten on 53 when the hosts completed their eight-wicket win. Eden Grove Parklands 2nds restricted Mexborough Athletic 2nds to 150-7 and Thulasinath Ramasamy then made 55 to help them to a two-wicket win. Kelham Elliott (64) was the principal contributor to Whiston Forge 2nds’ 220-7 against Scholes & Harley 2nds, who were all out for 173 in reply. On Sunday, Lewis Caley (66 not out) top-scored for Oughtibridge War Memorial 3rds in their 196-5 at home to Silkstone United 2nds, who were all out for 162 in reply, despite 63 from Joe Green.
On Sunday, the Whitworth Cup games were badly affected by the weather. Alex Clemo (64 not out) and Shinghi Masakadza (98 off 50 balls) put on 171 for Ackworth’s fifth wicket when they made 222-5 off 32 overs against Sprotbrough, who were 44-1 when play was abandoned, and Ackworth were declared winners on the DLS method. An unbeaten 48 from Peter Hadfield helped Elsecar to 159-6 off 28 overs against Wath, whose target was then reduced to 127 from 18, and they made 83-9. Dylan McDonald made 145 off 61 balls (13 fours, 13 sixes) out of Sheffield Collegiate 2nds’ 241-7 in 22 overs against Whiston Parish Church, who were 104-2 in the tenth over, chasing 166 from 14 overs, when rain ended play, and Collegiate were declared winners on a coin toss. Treeton beat Aston Hall on a bowl-out.
