Improved weather saw a full league programme completed in sunny conditions across the YCSPL. 
 
Premier Division 
 
In the division’s match-of-the-day, 2023 champions Sheffield Collegiate recorded a comprehensive win over reigning champions Cleethorpes at Chichester Road. Abdul Faseeh (113 off 131 balls) anchored the visitors’ innings after they were put in to bat, and a quickfire 51 off 37 balls from Ben Mason took the visitors to 269-8; Jonty Gillingham taking 5-59. Cleethorpes never really got going in reply, and with Jamie Carrington recording 5.3-2-10-7, they were all out for 83. After two rounds of games, only the Doncaster-based clubs, Town and Tickhill, still boast 100% records. Andrew Parkin-Coates (54) was the mainstay of Doncaster Town’s 177 all out after they were put in by Cawthorne at Dark Lane, Ikramullah Naseri taking 6-51 for the hosts. Cawthorne were well-placed at 103-2 in reply, but Rory Daburger took his second successive five-wicket haul, and they collapsed to 138 all out. Adam Copley took 5-40 to help Tickhill bowl Sprotbrough out for 136 after the latter chose to bat first at Melton Road in their first Premier Division game. Last season’s joint-top wicket-taker, Parteek Khasa, then took 4-34 and the visitors were in trouble at 79-7 in reply; but Charlie Kaye and Josh Court then added an unbroken 58 for the eighth wicket to see them home. Sixties from Safiullah Abrar, Jawad Akhtar and Waqar Hussain helped Wakefield Thornes to 275-5 against Hallam after they were asked to bat first at Field Lane; Sam Davison made 62 in the visitors’ reply, but they were all out for 177. Bilal Afzal’s 83 lifted Whiston Parish Church from 66-5 to 181 all out after they elected to bat first against Wickersley Old Village at Church Fields, where Mayank Mishra took 4-59. The visitors were 124-5 in reply, but lost their last five wickets for only ten runs, Joe Norbury taking 7-35. New overseas signing Paras Ratnaparkhe made 97 on his Appleby Frodingham debut, to help them to 249-6 after they decided to bat first against Whitley Hall at Baxter Field. Veteran seamer Paul Hilton then took 5-59 when the hosts were bowled out for 217 in reply. 
 
Championship Division 
 
Ackworth, Barnsley and Elsecar have maintained their 100% starts to the season after the second round of games. Hedar Rasool (64) helped Shiregreen to 159-3 after they chose to bat first at home to Ackworth, but when he was out seven wickets fell for 19 runs and they were all out for 178, Luke Townsend taking 5-48. Joshua Hen-Boisen then almost single-handedly steered the visitors to a four-wicket win with an unbeaten 100 off 105 balls. Opener Jack Hall (85) helped Coal Aston to reach a healthy 252-6 after they elected to bat first at home to Barnsley Woolley Miners. Ali Zaryab (131 not out off 140 balls) and skipper Boeta Beukes (82) then won the match for the visitors with a third wicket stand of 185. Tickhill 2nds won the toss and batted at home to Elsecar, posting 227-9, with sixties from James Eaton and Hernus Marais. Curtley Louw (64) and Arsalan Mir, who contributed 75 to add to his four first innings wickets, then took the visitors to a six-wicket win with a third wicket stand of 112. Muhammed Khan (78 not out) and Rob Ward (58) were the main contributors to Aston Hall’s 257-8 after they elected to bat first at home to Oughtibridge War Memorial. The visitors then got off to a fine start, with Naveed Asif (77) and Michael Brown (53) putting on 135 for the first wicket, but once Khan had removed Asif, wickets fell regularly, and they finished on 206-8. Robert Grace took 4-38 when Doncaster Town 2nds bowled Upper Haugh out for 156, after they had chosen to bat first at the Spinks ground, and an unbeaten 99 from Jack Woodiwiss saw the hosts home by eight wickets in the 40th over. Greg Mann was in the runs again for Sheffield Collegiate 2nds, his 86 helping his side to 206 all out after they decided to bat first against Rockingham Colliery at Abbeydale, Kelham Bennett and Paul Cummins taking four wickets each for the visitors. Tate Miller took 4-16 when the visitors replied, and they were all out for 91. 
 
Division 1 
 
Conisbrough, Treeton and Warmsworth all have maximum points after three games. Mathew Lowe’s 88 steered Conisbrough to a two-wicket win at home to Parkhead after they had bowled the visitors out for 225. The experienced duo of Gareth Davis (55) and Steve Foster (62 not out), aided by a rapid unbeaten 45 from Flynn Walker, helped Treeton to 231-7 after being put in to bat by Frickley Colliery at Washfield Lane. Jordan Bowers made 82 in the visitors’ reply, but Amir Shahzad took 6-44 and they were all out for 175. James Loveridge (115 off 137 balls) put on 147 for Warmsworth’s second wicket with skipper Liam Marshall, then Kyle Humphrys contributed a brisk unbeaten 50 as they posted 259-4 at home to Whitley Hall 2nds. Humphrys then followed up with 4-22 as the visitors were all out for 93 in reply. Houghton Main got their campaign off to a winning start after bowling Monk Bretton out for 209 at the Castle Ground. Vigneshwar Ramesh contributed 57 in the visitors’ three-wicket win. Jason van Dyk (73) and Syed Shah (52) were in the runs in Wath’s 197-9 at home to West Bretton; Euan Prigmore then took 4-19 and the visitors were dismissed for 93 in reply. Kade Fletcher’s 64 helped Cawthorne 2nds to 188 all out against Wickersley Old Village 2nds at Northfield Road, Conor Snelgrove taking 4-37; and the hosts were then bowled out for 135 in reply. 
 
Division 2 
 
Only Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds have a 100% record in the division, after beating Penistone at Shaw Lane. Freddie Egginton (51) and Ethan Shillito (59) helped the hosts to 181-8; then the visitors were bowled out for 167 in reply, despite opener Tom Reid’s 79. There was a remarkable game at Smithywood Road, where Wakefield Thornes 2nds were all out for 244 in 45.4 overs, Jamie Howarth making 78 and home skipper Oliver Law taking 4-41. In reply, Thorpe Hesley & High Green were 86-8 before Ashley Reynolds (72 not out) and Law (72) came together in a League record ninth-wicket stand of 156. Law was then dismissed by Billy Donnachie (4-46) and the last wicket fell two runs later to leave the hosts all out for 244, also in 45.4 overs. Aashman Arora took 4-26 for Hallam 2nds when they bowled Norton Oakes out for 161 at Crimicar, Thomas Eyre top-scoring with 50; Jack Unwin (62 not out) then steered the hosts to a five-wicket win. James Eyre (62) and skipper Dan Loughlin (50) helped Norton Woodseats to 241-5 away to Millhouses Works, who were all out for 197 in reply, despite 64 from Peter Chamberlain, with four wickets for Blake Stocks. Hatfield Town made 187-7 against Sheffield Collegiate 3rds at Carr Side Lane; then Michael Goodchild (63) and Robbie McKenna 70) put on 129 for the third wicket to ease the visitors to a six-wicket win. Kieran Higgins (63), Oliver Blackburn (59) and Lewis Meadows (51) were all in the runs in Elsecar 2nds’ 279-9 at home to Aston Hall 2nds, for whom Siraj Alam took four wickets; in reply, Lewis Sansome made 75 for the visitors, but Rehan Ahmed took 4-52 and they were all out for 232. 
 
Division 3 
 
Promoted sides Coal Aston 2nds and Upper Haugh 2nds, along with Shiregreen 2nds, have now won both their games so far. Ayden Dawson was amongst the wickets again for Upper Haugh 2nds, when they bowled fellow promotees Sprotbrough 2nds out for 88 at Wentworth Road, and beat them by eight wickets. Opener Richard Mintoft was the top scorer for Coal Aston 2nds at home to Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds, for whom Sam Patel took 6-18; Elliot Tye (5-16) and Shaun Trower (4-25) then bowled the hosts to a 63-run win. Opener Hasan Ali (84) set Shiregreen 2nds on their way to 249-6 against Rockingham Colliery 2nds at Hoyland Common; and although Joe Evans (80 not out) and Johnson Marumisa (72) put on 87 for the hosts’ third wicket, they were restricted to 215-6 in reply. Alex Morris (63) and Ryan Bagshaw (69), with a second-wicket stand of 139, put Higham on their way to 232-6 at home to Wath 2nds; then Gareth Kilburn took 4-34 when the visitors replied, and they finished on 151-8, Muraad Ghani making 54. Neil Ramsden took 5-56 for Frecheville Community to help them bowl Darfield out for 146 at the Hobson Bowl; then unbeaten forties from Jack Dransfiield and skipper Adam Buckle took the hosts to a four-wicket win. 
 
Division 4 
 
Newcomers Pledwick are one of four clubs who have won both games so far. Opener James Eastlake (59) set them on their way to 230-8 against Doncaster Town 3rds at Blaxton; he then took 5-32 and Zachary Heslop 4-17 when they bowled the hosts out for 110 in reply. Bhavika Koliyabandara’s 88 was the principal contribution to Sheffield University Staff’s 165 all out against Sheffield Caribbean at the Common, and they bowled their hosts out for 141 to claim their second win. Jack Murfin made 79 in Stocksbridge’s 260-6 against Thorncliffe & Wentworth at Lound Side, Dimitrios Triandafillithisn taking four wickets for the hosts. In reply, Andrew Higgins made 51, but Andrew Hibbert took 4-39 and Thorncliffe were restricted to 184-9. An unbeaten 85 from Steve Cowles, helped by useful contributions from the lower order, took Whiston Forge to 213-9 against Kexborough at Bence Lane; Matthew Beevers’ 5-38 then helped them to their second win, opener Richard Burgess making 63 in the hosts’ 202 all out. Opener Craig Wilkes made a patient unbeaten 55 in Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds’ 136-8 against Treeton 2nds at Woolley; then an unbeaten 55 from Robbie Broomhead took the visitors to a four-wicket win. Bradford Village Fellowship made 149-7 away to Ackworth 2nds, Aaron Taylor taking 4-29, then opener Keelan Booth (57) set the hosts on their way to a seven-wicket win. 
 
Division 5 
 
Owen Young took 4-8 for Hatfield Town 2nds when they bowled Barnby Dun out for 39 on their way to an eight-wicket win at Glass Park. Jay Horne (5-34) helped Warmsworth 2nds bowl Hallam 3rds out for 121 at Sandygate, but the visitors then struggled to a two-wicket win in reply, Harry Spence taking 4-21. Gary Mills took 5-31 when Maltby Miners Welfare bowled Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds out for 100 at Muglet Lane; however, the hosts did not have things all their own way, winning by just three wickets. An unbeaten 58 from Marcus Hoyland was the main contribution to Penistone 2nds’ 116-7 at home to Silkstone United, for whom skipper Lee White then made 66 in their four-wicket win. Runs were shared down the order in Wombwell Main’s 273-9 at home to Millhouses Works 2nds; in the visitors’ reply, Nick Attrill hit an unbeaten 63 in vain and Connor Turford took 4-43 to help restrict them to 210-7. 
 
Division 6 
 
Joshua Yemm contributed an important 60 to Fishlake’s 124-9 at home to Wadworth, and Richard Copley took 6-19 when the visitors were bowled out for 74 in reply. Whiston Parish Church 2nds bowled Handsworth out for 183 at Oliver’s Mount, then sixties from Basharat Ali and Yahya Ahmad led the visitors to a seven-wicket win. Rayyan Azhar’s 67 was the backbone of Parkhead 2nds’ 191-9 at home to Scholes & Harley, who were all out for 89 in reply, with Nathaniel Sloane taking 6-21. Muhammed Khan made 55 in Sheffield Centralians’ 212 all out at home to Whitley Hall 3rds, who were 146-7 in reply, with Khan (5-18) completing an excellent all-round game. Aqib Ahmed took 4-16 for Sheffield United 2nds when they restricted Sheffield Caribbean 2nds to 159-9 at Bawtry Road, then Obaidullah Mirzai made 57 when United completed a five-wicket win. Fifties from Satvir Singh, Julian Bates and Satinderpal Singh helped Green Moor to 223-6 at home to Conisbrough 2nds, who were all out for 155 in reply, despite skipper Tom Humphies’ 75, Satvir Singh taking 6-28. 
 
Division 7 North 
 
James Hague (52) and John Musgrave (55 not out) helped Stocksbridge 2nds to 184 all out at home to Mexborough Athletic, for whom Jonathan Guest and Matthew Russell took four wickets each; Athletic were then all out for 143 in reply. Higham 2nds made 212 all out against Houghton Main 2nds at Middlecliffe Lane, Jahanzib Utkail taking 4-16; then Luke Woodhouse took 4-11 when the hosts were dismissed for 131 in reply. There was a huge win for Darfield 2nds, for whom Austin Milson (55) and Lewis Clayton (87) put on 152 for the second wicket in their 296-8 at home to Doncaster Town 4ths; then Josh Sixsmith returned 4-3-1-5 when the visitors were all out for 34 in reply. Richard Wilkinson took 4-24 for Wombwell Main 2nds, who bowled Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds out for 134, Tom Stokes making 58; then Wilkinson made 55 when the visitors completed a seven-wicket win. Noah Shore took 6-26 for Rockingham Colliery 3rds, who bowled Adwick-le-Street out for 77 on their way to a nine-wicket win. 
 
Division 7 South 
 
Rakaan Al-Huneidi made 77 in Sheffield Medics’ 220-9 against Wickersley Old Village 3rds, who were all out for 79 in reply. Matty Roe took 5-20 for Coal Aston 3rds when they bowled The Chronicles England out for 112 at Graves Park, but the visitors struggled against Jedds George (4-18) before completing a three-wicket win. Skipper Will Sammons (54) set Norton Woodseats 2nds on their way to 192-7 at home to Sheffield Superkings, then Tajawol Arman took 5-34 to help bowl the visitors out for 96 in reply. Uday Reddy (5-34) helped Sheffield Centralians 2nds to bowl Allama Iqbal out for 151 at Graves Park, then Haydar Ikrar made 53 when the visitors completed a seven-wicket win. Brookhouse set Sheffield Transport a modest 136 to win at Meadowhead, but Tharindu Perera took 4-31 and they were all out for 114. 
 
Division 8 North 
 
Frickley Colliery 2nds topped 300 for the second week running, Tom Hemingway, who made his second hundred in successive weeks (107 off 108 balls), and skipper Luke Malone (133 off 81 balls) took them to 316-4 at home to Worsbrough Bridge 2nds; Tobey Hall (67) then showed defiance for the visitors, and they closed on 188-8. Narender Manohar took 4-15 for Hallam 4ths when they held Pledwick 2nds to 109-9 at Pledwick, and David Adams was 70 not out when the visitors completed a ten-wicket win. Callum Plummer took 4-15 for Upper Haugh 3rds when they bowled Monk Bretton 2nds out for 43 on their way to an eight-wicket win. West Bretton 2nds restricted Sprotbrough 3rds to 151-7 at Park Lane, then 57 from Curtis Gates helped the hosts to a six-wicket win. Steven Dixon took 4-28 when Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths bowled Eden Madras Parklands out for 121 at Parklands, but Ravi Gandamala recorded 5-3-3-4 when the visitors replied, and they were all out for 77. 
 
Division 8 South 
 
After bowling Handsworth 2nds out for 124, Hallam 5ths were propelled to a seven-wicket win by Chris Martin (88). Fifties from Mohammed Ayaz, Junaid Javaid and Shabir Ali took Sheffield Spartans to 250-5 against Norton Oakes 2nds at Oakes Park; Stephen Cook (55) and Chris Baker then got the hosts off to a solid start with an opening stand of 110, but they fell short on 192-5 in reply. Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds posted 171-8 against Sheffield Collegiate 5ths, then bowled them out for 67, Kamran Younis taking 4-7. De la Salle made 131-9 away to Waverley 2nds, who did not have everything their own way in reply, and they lost seven wickets in overhauling their modest target, Midhun Mohan top-scoring with 49. On Sunday, Zain Tariq (48) helped Handsworth 2nds to 149-9 away to Sheffield Transport 2nds, who were all out for 84 in reply. 
 
Division 9 North 
 
Opener Charlie Whitehead (82) was last out in Wath 3rds’ 138 all out away to Dearne, for whom Ben Whitehouse took 6-19 and followed up with 93 off 81 balls as his side cruised to a nine-wicket win. Silkstone United 2nds were bowled out for 67 by Fishlake 2nds, for whom Simon Waites took 4-13, and his side duly completed a six-wicket win. Four wickets each from Joe Young and Chris Stride helped Sheffield University Staff 2nds to bowl Sprotbrough 4ths out for 56, and the Staff eased to a ten-wicket win. Thomas Green took 5-22 for Kexborough 2nds when they kept Mexborough Athletic 2nds to 122-6 at the Beecroft Estates ground, but that proved a winning score when Philip Taylor and Mathew Walker each took four wickets, and the visitors were all out for 91. Ithikash Arun’s 81 was the match-winning innings when he helped Eden Madras Parklands 2nds to 146 all out against Higham 3rds at Thurgoland; Peter Rayan then took 4-18 and the hosts were bowled out for 108 in reply. 
 
Division 9 South 
 
Mohammed Latif recorded 6.3-3-8-4 when De la Salle bowled Frecheville Community 2nds out for 132 at Beauchief, but Adam Gibson then took 5-24 and the hosts were all out for 92 in reply. Barney Kirk took 4-25 to help Oughtibridge War Memorial 3rds bowl Hallam 6ths out for 114 at Wentworth, and then Mohammad Ali’s unbeaten 71 took the hosts to a five wicket win inside 15 overs. Sam Ferris took 4-40, but was unable to stop Sheffield University Staff 3rds from reaching a competitive 170 all out against Scholes & Harley 2nds, and his side were then all out for 75 in reply. Joel Martin made 54 for Tickhill 3rds in their 135-8 against Whiston Forge 2nds at Guilthwaite Hill; opener Sam Reed was then unbeaten on 53 in the hosts’ six-wicket win. Coal Aston 4ths bowled Richmond out for 108 at Stonelow, then beat them by seven wickets.
