Premier Division leaders Cleethorpes lost ground at the top when their game at home to Doncaster had to be abandoned with the visitors on 80-2 whilst attempting to play a reduced-overs game. Tickhill reduced the gap at the top to six points by beating Cawthorne at Alderson Drive. The visitors’ innings was reduced to 40 overs after they were put in to bat, and Thomas Jones (57*) and Archie Greaves (32*) took them to 153-4. Needing a DLS -revised target of 165, Ross Diver (40) and James Stuart (46*) took the hosts to a four-wicket win with three overs to spare. Third-placed Wakefield Thornes kept in touch at the top after they put Whitley Hall in to bat at Baxter Field and bowled them out for 218. Andrew Pickering (79) and skipper Neil Longhurst (35*) where the main run-scorers for the hosts, and Matty Taylor (4-44) and Freddie Egleston (3-44) were amongst the wickets for Thornes. In reply, James Rhodes (44) and keeper Joe Billings (41) put on 68 for the second wicket, and skipper Greg Wadsworth (31*) then took his side to a one-wicket win with three overs to spare. Shiregreen put Sheffield Collegiate in to bat at Hatfield House Lane, and with Wasim Khaliq taking 4-54 and Sana Ullah Khan 3-42, bowled them out for 154, of which opener Haider Raja carried his bat for an unbeaten 81. The hosts got off to a brisk start in reply, with Haris Khan making 54 off 33 balls, but Henry Eldred (3-43) and Shaaiq Choudhry (3-37) took control to bowl Shiregreen out for 147. In the battle of the bottom two at the Al-Murad Stadium, opener Peter Hadfield, with 126 off 89 balls, including seven fours and 11 sixes, shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 79 with Tanzeel Ali (50), to help Elsecar to 285 all out against Treeton, for whom Charlie Bourne took 4-76 and Zak Jahangir 3-30. In reply, there were thirties from Fiontan Logan, skipper Sam Drury and Ben Birtles, but the visitors never really threatened, and were all out for 201, Arsalan Mir taking 4-58 and skipper Bilal Anjam 4-63. The game between relegation-threatened Barnsley Woolley Miners and Appleby Frodingham had to be abandoned with the visitors on 207-2 after 45 overs following an incident involving trespassers on the ground. Visiting skipper Alex Grimes made 66 and Drew Silvester was unbeaten on 80. The teams have been given permission to replay the game.
The big game in the Championship Division was at Ackworth, where the visitors were leaders Wickersley Old Village. Skipper Luke Townsend (47) and Mohammad Khan (93*) put on 85 for the fourth wicket whilst the hosts made 209-8; Dylan Smythe (3-63) and Jake Rodgers (3-53) the most successful bowlers. In reply, the visitors slumped to 54-7, but skipper Iftikhar Afzal, with an unbeaten 62, provided some resistance, and they fell only 36 short on 173-9. Joshua Hen-Boisen took 3-38 for Ackworth, who remain eight points outside the promotion places. Hallam have narrowed the gap between themselves and the leaders to 12 points after beating Doncaster Town 2nds at the Eco Power Oval. The host were all out for 157 after being put in to bat, Jak Hotchkiss (36) and Jonathan Redfern (31) top-scoring for the hosts, whilst Edward Burch (4-42) and Arjith Ravi (3-33) did most of the damage for the visitors. With Tiger Payne (3-46) taking three early wickets, Hallam were 4-36 in reply, but Mathias Paltridge (56*) and Jay Singh (35*) took them to a five wicket win in the 48th over with an unbroken partnership of 87. Whiston Parish Church held on to fourth place by beating Wath at Moor Road. Hayden Byrne (49) and Ben Roebuck (36) helped the hosts to 159 all out, Harry Paver taking 5-32 for Whiston, who then reached their target for the loss of five wickets in the 46th over. Paver completed a fine all-round game with 38 at the top of the order, and Danny Kemp made an unbeaten 43. Daniel Wright took 4-44 and Scott Mantovani 3-16 to help Sprotbrough bowl Sheffield Collegiate 2nds out for 103 after putting them in to bat at Abbeydale. Akhil Akhil was then unbeaten on 58 as the visitors completed a seven-wicket win in the 27th over. Rockingham Colliery took a big step towards safety by beating second-bottom Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds at Hoyland Common. Harry Grindle (67) and Lasith Lakshan (111 off 89 balls) added 151 for the second wicket to help their side to 270-5. Freddie Chapman made 60 and skipper William Nicholson (41) in the visitors’ reply, but the task was too great and they fell 65 short, Richard Skipworth taking 3-66 for Rockingham. Aston Hall completed a speedy win over relegated Houghton Main at Green Lane. Zaki Anjam (31) and Adeel Rauf put on 61 for the visitors’ first wicket, but Josh Coulson then took 4-9 and skipper Adam Clarke 3-23 as Houghton were bowled out for 96. It then took Tanvir Singh (45*) and Mark Barnard (51*) only 9.5 overs to knock off the required runs without loss of wicket.
Oughtibridge War Memorial maintained their fourteen-point lead at the top of Division 1 after beating Wickersley Old Village 2nds at Northfield Lane. Put in to bat, Nathan Taylor (41) and Brady Saunders (33) helped the hosts to 185-6, Hasaru Chaamikara taking 3-37 for the visitors. In reply, Oughtibridge were 42-4, but skipper Will Cooper (40) and Marcus Burley (41*) took them to a four wicket win with six overs to spare, Adam Whitford taking 3-49 for the hosts. The two sides in joint-second place met at School Lane, and it was Tickhill 2nds who came out on top. Put in to bat by Darfield, they were 85-6, but thirties from Ibrahim Safi, Sam Roby and Dylan Sisman took them to 193-9, Jabari Mills taking 4-36 and Matt Lambert 3-52 for the hosts. In reply, Lambert made 36 at the top of the order, but the rest of the Darfield batting perished against Joe Martin (4-27) and Safi (3-11), and they were all out for 103. Rotherham Town are now in third place, just two places outside the promotion spots, after a hard-fought win over Warmsworth at Common Lane. Skipper Rhys Mann made 94 at the top of the order for the hosts after they were asked to bat first, and he received good support from Liam Marshall (70*), with whom he added 129 for the fourth wicket, and the hosts posted 215-4, Hussnain Hussain taking 3-42. In reply, opener Jawad Saleem (36) and Syed Shah (65) put on 77 for Town’s second wicket and Hedar Rasool made 41 as the visitors edged to a two-wicket win in the last over, Siddarth Ahhuja (4-73) and Jake Marshall (3-46) the most successful bowlers. Skipper Mathew Lowe (45) and Joe Farmer (75) got Conisbrough off to a fine start with a stand of 88 for the first wicket after they had been put in to bat at home to Aston Hall 2nds, then Josh Whitaker (49) and Nathan Chadburn (50) helped them to 260-7, despite Charlie Taylor’s 3-63 for the visitors. In reply, Buddhika Bopitiyaga (5-43) and Chadburn (4-59) bowled the visitors out for 149, Zeesham Ahmed offering most resistance with 31, and Conisbrough are now fourth. Whitley Hall 2nds lost ground amongst the leaders after they were bowled out for 81 after being put in to bat by relegation-threatened Wakefield Thornes 2nds at Field Lane. Alex Littlewood (49) offered the only real resistance against George Harrison (6-3-4-5) and Edward Fowles (4-38), and Thornes then cantered to a seven-wicket win in the 25th over. Upper Haugh took a big step towards safety after beating bottom club Elsecar at Wentworth Road. Habil Arshad took 5-40 and Parvez Asghar 3-5 as the visitors were bowled out for 69, then Ali Asghar made 30 as the hosts recorded a seven-wicket win in the 16th over.
Michael Hunter took 4-34 after Division 2 leaders Coal Aston asked third-placed Monk Bretton to bat first at Stonelow and bowled them out for 135, Steven Honeyman top-scoring with 54. In reply, Dave Rodgers was unbeaten on 49 and Jack Hall on 79 as Coal Aston cruised to a ten-wicket win in the 23rd over. Second-placed Penistone took only 20.3 overs to beat Treeton 2nds at Washfield Lane. Jack Meek took 5-24 as the hosts were bowled out for 57 in the 15th over, opener Muhammad Mukarram top-scoring with 34. The visitors then needed only six overs to knock off the required runs without loss of wicket, and the Treeton dropped to the bottom of the table after Wath 2nds leapfrogged when they beat fourth-placed Hallam 2nds. Mark Barlow top-scored with 36 for Wath after they were asked to bat first and were restricted to 105-9, Alex Coates taking 5-11. In reply, the hosts were bowled out for 98, with James Guthrig taking 4-29 and Barlow 4-33. Four early wickets from Aaron Horsfield (4-34) helped reduce Parkhead to 13-6 against Hatfield Town at Carr Side Lane. Chris Millard then hit 117 not out off 104 balls to help his side recover to 200-8, and Chris Turner then took 3-44 and Louis Marven 3-18 to help bowl Hatfield out for 174 in reply, despite 52 from Alec Elliott. Thorpe Hesley & High Green beat their closest rivals in their fight to avoid finishing in the third relegation place, Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds, at Waterside Gardens, and the two are now locked together on 98 points, with Thorpe Hesley having a crucial game in hand. Garvin Serieux made 42 after the visitors were put in to bat, and with thirties from opener Daniel Naylor and Chris Fisher they posted 233, Lahiru Lihinikadu taking 3-44. In the Oughtibridge reply, Renaldo Brathwaite took 4-61 and Jordan Hanson 3-56 as they were all out for 223, despite a 116-run fourth-wicket stand between Bavasuthan Selvanyagam (55) and skipper Oliver Cockbill-Black (51).
Millhouses Works and Cawthorne 2nds threw the Division 3 promotion race wide open by beating the two sides above them, and only 21 points now separate the top four sides. Millhouses put Norton Woodseats in to bat at Millhouses Park, where only 74 off 57 balls from number eight Aamir Ashfaque enabled the visitors to recover from 120-7 to post 211 all out. Kieran O’Sullivan took 4-56 for the hosts and Lee Stewart 3-17. In reply, George Henderson (77) and Tom Roper (56*) put on 104 for the fifth wicket to provide a platform for Millhouses’ three-wicket win, whilst Ashfaque took 3-42 to complete a fine individual performance. Afzaal Ahmed took 3-30 for Cawthorne as they bowled Sheffield Collegiate 3rds out for 123 at Dark Lane, Shafiullah Shinwari top-scoring with 40 for the visitors. In reply, George Charnock made 33 at the top of the order to prevent a Cawthorne collapse as three cheap wickets fell at the order end, and then Charlie Parkin made an unbeaten 45 to guide them to victory, despite Daniel Longley’s 4-42. Fifth-placed Higham bowled Caribbean Sports out for 106 at Royd Lane, Gareth Kilburn taking 5-17 whilst Zabe Javed made 34 for the visitors. In reply, skipper Greg Walton made 52 as the hosts strolled to a seven-wicket win in the 30th over. George Brooks (44) and skipper Daniel Baldwin (63) put on 76 for Norton Oakes’ first wicket after they were put in to bat by Worsbrough Bridge at Oakes Park. Michael Nuttall then contributed 33 and the hosts were 136-1 before Mark Wilkinson (5-33) and Zarmash Tarakhil (3-64) caused the last nine wickets to fall for 62 and they were all out for 198. Joshua Cross then returned 13-7-10-5 and Callum East took 4-45 as Bridge were all out for 65 in reply. Two sides in the relegation zone met at Thorncliffe, where bottom side Thorncliffe & Wentworth enjoyed a six-wicket win over Bradfield Village Fellowship. Shaik Aziz took 3-17 to help restrict the visitors to 108-8, then Liam Page made an unbeaten 36 to see his side home, despite Hennie Swart taking 3-15 in 13 overs. Skipper Scott Shillito (66) and Ulaganathan Sayanthan (36) put on 105 for Kexborough’s first wicket against Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds at Bence Lane, and Richard Burgess (40) and Robert Mynett (33*) then helped them post 230-7. Opener Ethan Shillito made 62 in the visitors’ reply, but he lacked support, and Thangarajah Jerushan (3-38) and Mynett (3-22) helped to bowl Barnsley out for 138 in reply.
Frecheville Community are now the clear leaders at the top of Division 4 after they beat Sheffield Collegiate 4ths at Abbeydale and joint leaders Stocksbridge were beaten at home by Shiregreen 2nds, who have moved into fourth place. Tommy Harrison (69*) and Chris Stewart (79) helped Collegiate to 193-2, and in reply, Jake Kempton made 44 at the top of the order for Frecheville before Louis Fairest (50*) put on 69 for the third wicket with David Ratcliffe (48) and an unbroken 63 for the fourth with Waris Abbas (42* off 25 balls) as the visitors completed a seven-wicket win with 11 overs to spare. Torick Akram (65) and skipper Nazam Mohammed (37) were the main run-getters in Shiregreen’s 220-9, whilst Andrew Hibbert (4-47) and Jake Vickers (3-42) were the most successful bowlers for Stocksbridge. In reply, Rob Taylor made 55 for the hosts, but there were three wickets each for Khurram Shahzad, Aqeel Ahmad and Fida Mohammad as Stocksbridge were bowled out for 141. Rockingham Colliery 2nds made up some ground on the top two with a convincing win over bottom side Silkstone United at Barnsley Road. Andy Shore (64) led a recovery from 24-3, and with solid support from Lewis Upton (39) and Kelham Bennett (37) the visitors posted 206-9; then only Kevin Taylor (31) offered much resistance as all five bowlers took two wickets apiece and United were all out for 110 in reply. Doncaster Town 3rds lost ground on the top three when they were beaten by Sprotbrough 2nds at Melton Road. Umar Ali took 4-10 and Idris Khan 3-33 as the visitors were bundled out for 73, then skipper Thomas Langley was unbeaten on 39 as Sprotbrough completed a seven-wicket win in the 19th over. Upper Haugh 2nds climbed out of the bottom three with a fine win over Wombwell Main at the I-Source Stadum. Jonathan Scaife made an unbeaten 68 and Kieren Dinnage 55 as the hosts made 225-9, Steven Reynolds taking 3-52 for the visitors; Christopher Pearson then made 108, sharing an opening stand of 115 with Yousuf Ghani, and Reynolds contributed an unbeaten 67 as Upper Haugh reached their target for the loss of three wickets in the 34th over. Hallam 3rds slipped further into trouble in the relegation zone when they were comprehensively beaten by Conisbrough 2nds at Sandygate. Craig Jackson took 7-29 as the hosts were bowled out for 54, and the visitors completed a nine-wicket win in the ninth over.
In the game between the top two in Division 5, at Glass Park, it was Barnby Dun who came out on top and moved into first place above Sheffield University Staff. Opener Henry Parker made 55 and skipper Alex Pepper 39 as the hosts made 191-7, Aden Biddle taking 3-39 for the Staff. When the visitors replied, Ben Salter took 5-44, and with support from James Brooks (3-34), they were all out for 146. Coal Aston 2nds maintained their grip on the third promotion spot with a comfortable win over Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Church Fields. Edward Rabjohn took 4-18 as the hosts were bowled out for 135, of which Sudhish Sadhu made 47. In reply, opener Zac Trower made 46 for the visitors, and keeper Thomas Trower was unbeaten on 33 when they completed a six-wicket win in the 25th over. Ackworth 2nds kept up the pressure in fourth place after beating relegation-threatened Wickersley Old Village 3rds at Wentworth. Graham Cooke (42) and Steven Dransfield (40) were mainly responsible for the hosts’ 166 all out, whilst James Clarke took 4-37 for Ackworth. In the visitors’ reply, keeper Dave Harris made an unbeaten 47 and they completed a six-wicket win in the 32nd over. Maltby Miners Welfare lost ground in the promotion race after their defeat to Whiston Forge at Muglet Lane. Paul Pendle rescued the hosts from 46-5 with an unbeaten 51, taking them to 135-6, after Josh Cooke had taken 5-52 for the visitors. In reply, Whiston were 16-4 before keeper Steve Cowles (41) and Jack Robinson (40) put on 72 for the fifth wicket, and they recorded a three-wicket win with seven overs to spare. Rotherham Town 2nds bowled out bottom side Darfield 2nds for 76 at Clifton Lane, with Murad Rasheed taking 5-17 and Mahmood Hussain 4-8; then Rasheed was unbeaten on 49 when the hosts completed a nine-wicket win in the 14th over. Handsworth Junior SC climbed out of the relegation places with a 60-run win over Fishlake at Pinfold Lane. Hamza Hussain (75) amd skipper Mohammad Aslan (45) were the main contributors to the visitors’ 205-5; then they reduced the hosts to 88-6 before Tim Elliot (67*) dug in with Ian Stoddart and the pair batted out time with an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 57.
With Division 6 leaders Hatfield Town 2nds not in action, Warmsworth 2nds took over at the top after beating relegation-threatened Bradfield Village Fellowship at the Sands. Skipper Craig Shepherd took the hosts to 81-1, but after he was put, wickets started to tumble and Tom Machin finished with 5-35 as Bradfield were all out for 139. Opener Andrew Heywood (49) got the visitors off to a solid start in reply, then keeper Mark Mullen hit an unbeaten 41 to see Warmsworth to a four-wicket win in the 38th over. Whitley Hall 3rds are clear in third place after beating Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds at Smithywood Road. Opener Charlie Wragg made 44 out of the visitors 112 all out, Thomas Arnold (3-13) and Aditya Singh (3-10) amongst the wickets for the hosts. In reply, Thorpe Hesley were bowled out for 68, Joe Webster taking 4-10 and Wragg 3-31. Penistone 2nds lost ground on the top three when they were beaten by bottom side Higham 2nds at Queen Street. The hosts were 51-7 before number nine John Dalton (35) lifted them to 112 all out, Alex Green (4-29) and Alistair Cooper (3-27) the chief wicket-takers. James Lawson (35) and Richard Ives (42*) then took the visitors to a seven-wicket win with 11 overs to spare. In a low-scoring game at Bawtry Road, Millhouses Works 2nds were bowled out for 93 by Sheffield United 2nds, Safiullah Stanikzai (3-28) and Mansoor Khaderkhil (3-12) doing most of the damage; then Asif Raja took 6-31 as United were bowled out for 80 in reply. Skipper Elliot Hunt (53) and James Beresford (34) put on 75 for Mexborough Athletic’s first wicket against Caribbean Sports 2nds at the Common, Hamidullah Shinwari then taking 3-13 as they were restricted to 141-7. Beresford then followed up with 3-7 as Caribbean were bowled out for 61 in reply.
Green Moor returned to winning ways at the top of Division 7 with a comprehensive win at home to Stocksbridge 2nds. James Christopherson took 4-15 and Harry Airstone 3-18 as the visitors were bowled out for 99, then Airstone’s unbeaten 57 led his side to a nine-wicket win in the 16th over. Scholes & Harley maintained their narrow advantage in second place by beating Sprotbrough 3rds at Bullcroft. Matthew Holmes took 3-19 as the hosts were restricted to 104-8, and skipper Peter Dearden then led his side to an eight-wicket win with an unbeaten 42. Brookhouse kept the pressure on the top two by beating Eden Grove Parklands at Rose Lane. Opener Joe Yellott (52) and Howard Larne (62* off 47 balls) were the main contributors to the hosts’ 219-7, Simon White taking 3-28 for Eden Grove; then White (48) and Daniel Morton (70*) put on 67 for the visitors’ third wicket but Jasneet Gulati took 5-43 and they were all out for 168. Carl Newbold took 4-18 when Adwick-le-Street bowled Barnsley Woolley Miners out for 59 at Woolley, the visitors then cantering to a ten-wicket win in the 11th over. Lars Slee-Karim took 5-18 for Doncaster Town 4ths when they bowled relegation-threatened Norton Oakes 2nds out for 65 at Hill House. The hosts then completed a seven-wicket win in the 21st over. Houghton Main 2nds conceded to Upper Haugh 3rds.
Division 8 leaders Parkhead 2nds came out on top in a low-scoring encounter with third-placed Hallam 4ths at Ecclesall Road. The hosts were grateful for a superb all-round performance from Mubasher Ali, who made 48 whilst Matthew Kraus took 4-18 to help bowl them out for 127, and then took 6-16 as Hallam were bowled out for 105 in reply. Barnby Dun 2nds’ faint promotion hopes were extinguished after losing to relegation-threatened Frecheville Community 2nds at the Hobson Bowl. Martin Tydeswell (71) and Jack Dransfield (56) added 104 for the hosts’ fourth wicket in their 173-9, Jon Harris taking 4-53 for the visitors. In Barnby Dun’s reply, opener Zully Shah made 58, but Lee Ford took 3-28 to restrict them to 144-9. Keeper Matthew Jackson hit an unbeaten 47 at number nine to lift Elsecar 3rds from 58-7 to 139-7 against Norton Woodseats 2nds at Matthews Lane, Rahimullah Khil taking 3-25 for the hosts; but his efforts were in vain, Nandha Krishnamoorthy making 45 at the top of the order to help his side to a two-wicket win, despite Freddie Rowbottom’s 3-16. Alfie Robinson took 3-20 as Monk Bretton 2nds bowled Kexborough 2nds out for 113 at the Castle Ground. Keeper Paul Bowmer (30*) and Andy Taylor (36) then put on 65 for the fourth wicket to help Monk Bretton to as six-wicket win. Mexborough Athletic 2nds’ relegation worries increased after they were beaten at home by Wombwell Main 2nds. James Swallow (38) and Connor Turford (36) were the main contributors to Wombwell’s 202 all out, whilst Owen Brinton took 4-38 for the hosts. In reply, James Stephenson hit 112 off 101 balls, to add to his 3-24 with the ball, but Athletic’s hopes faded when he was eighth out at 183, and Turford took 4-42 as they were bowled out for 190. Bottom side Worsbrough Bridge 2nds conceded to second-placed Rockingham Colliery 3rds.
Division 9 leaders Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds returned to winning ways with a convincing win over second-placed Dearne at Furlong Road. Kamran Younis took 3-21 as the hosts were bowled out for 141, and then keeper Sam Burdett (74*) and Josh Shillito (61*) came together in an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 121 to take Thorncliffe to an eight-wicket win in the 28th over. The clubs in third and fourth places overnight, Silkstone United 2nds and Wath 3rds, met at Guilthwaite Hill. Joe Dickinson (34) and Kai Lonergan (37) helped Wath reach 60-1, but Alfred Darwin then took 4-14 to help restrict them to 164-9. In reply, Harris Rahim (36) and Oliver Thomas (82) put on 111 for Silkstone’s second wicket, and they passed their target with six wickets and 16 overs to spare. At Parklands, visitors Brookhouse 2nds made 190 all out against Eden Grove Parklands 2nds, Fida Hussain leading the way with 80 off 65 balls, whilst there were three wickets each for Stuart Stubbins and Anthony Shenton. In reply, there were thirties from keeper Dennis White and Nicholas Brown, but Thomas Plummer took 4-31 as the hosts were restricted to 151-7. Fishlake 2nds conceded to Scholes & Harley 2nds.
