The sunny weather meant that a full programme of league and T20 Blast games was completed.
Premier Division
Sheffield Collegiate retained their 12-point advantage at the top of the division, prevailing in a low-scoring game at Abbeydale. Mike Jepps followed up his recent good form with the bat by taking 5-50 as Wickersley Old Village bowled the leaders out for 145, after they had been 89-2. The visitors then lost half their side for 31, were never really in the hunt, and were bowled out for 100 in reply. Harry Clewett took 4-24 for Cleethorpes when they bowled Lincolnshire rivals Appleby Frodingham out for 151 at Brumby Hall; then Nic Keast was unbeaten on 85 when the visitors eased to a seven-wicket win that moved them up to second place. Cawthorne moved up into joint third, just four points behind Tickhill, over whom they recorded a four-wicket win at the Brookfield Oval. Mustafa Shinwari took 4-42 when the hosts were bowled out for 172, and although Tickhill tried six bowlers when Cawthorne replied, they completed an impressive win. The bottom three in the table overnight all won, with Thomas Pepper (71) and Parteek Khasa (50) leading Sprotbrough to 182 all out after they had been put in to bat by Hallam at Crimicar, despite a fine spell by James Smedley (5-29); Khasa (4-29) then completed an excellent all-round performance and the hosts were bowled out for 104 to give Sprotbrough their first Premier Division win. Bhargav Merai (72) helped Whiston Parish Church to 187-6 against his former club Doncaster Town at the Spinks Ground; then Mark Cummins took 4-44 when the hosts were bowled out for 150 in reply. Dan Waldron (4-26) and Neil Longhurst (4-17) were the main destroyers when Whitley Hall bowled out Wakefield Thornes for 134 after putting them in to bat at Field Lane; and the visitors completed a seven-wicket win in the 36th over.
Championship Division
The big winners in the division were Barnsley Woolley Miners, who came out on top in the match-of-the-day at Shaw Lane. Ali Zaryab (103 not out off 122 balls) led the hosts to 253-4; then Arsalan Mir (62) provided the main threat when Elsecar replied, but the task was too great, and they ended on 221-6. Both sides are now just six points behind leaders Ackworth, who lost at home to Sheffield Collegiate 2nds. Skipper Adam Burkinshaw (69) and Louie Owens (64) added 139 for the visitors’ second wicket, and although the innings then subsided somewhat against Dale Longfield (7-37), their total of 197 all out proved sufficient when George Marks took 4-39 and Ackworth were all out for 179 in reply. Aston Hall kept pace with the leaders in fourth after Muhammad Khan took 5-45 to help them bowl Rockingham Colliery out for 122 at Hoyland Common, despite Lasith Lakshan’s 63; in reply, the visitors did not have it all their own way, but they completed a five-wicket win in the 47th over. There was a good finish at Hatfield House Lane, where opener Haris Khan helped Shiregreen to 186 all out against Doncaster Town 2nds, for whom Jack Woodiwiss took 4-39. The visitors were not in good shape at 67-5 in reply, but Simon Widdup and Alfie Peirson added 68 for the sixth wicket and the lower order finished the job with two balls and two wickets to spare. Coal Aston consolidated their top half place by beating fellow promotees Upper Haugh at Wentworth Road. Regan Sheahan took 5-17 when the hosts were all out for 126; then Coal Aston were 64-4, before a patient unbeaten thirty from Lawrence Browes saw them over the line. Joe Martin took 4-26 for Tickhill 2nds when they restricted Oughtibridge War Memorial to 184-6 after putting them in to bat at Waterside Gardens; an unbeaten 67 from opener James Eaton then saw the visitors to a seven-wicket win in the 41st over.
Division 1
Jake Marshall took 5-37 to help Warmsworth bowl Houghton Main out for 105 at Middlecliff Lane; and the visitors completed a five-wicket win inside 19 overs. They are now four points clear at the top after overnight joint-leaders Treeton lost to Parkhead at Ecclesall Road. Marcus Ardley took 4-48 when the visitors were all out for 199; then Parkhead completed a three wicket win in 41 overs. Wath are up to second place after beating Whitley Hall 2nds at Baxter Field. Chris Verity (61) and Sam Chatterton (60) put on 124 for the hosts’ third wicket in their 229-8; then Jason van Dyk (76) and Isaac Wainwright (58) got the visitors off to a fine start with an opening stand of 105, before Mikey Denton (51) took them to within sight of their four-wicket win. Skipper Joe Farmer was the top-scorer for Conisbrough, who made 206-9 after being put in to bat by Wickersley Old Village 2nds at the Beerpig Oval; Chris Cobb then made 50 in the hosts’ reply, but Nathan Chadburn took 5-41 and they were all out for 148, Conisbrough moving up to fourth place in the table. Opener Tom Hemingway (75) was the leading contributor to Frickley Colliery’s 258-9 at home to West Bretton, for whom Kyle Clayton took 5-68; then George Naylor (84) and Joseph Gott (69) put on 156 for the second wicket to lay the foundation for the visitors’ first win in the YCSPL, by three wickets, despite Stephen Ashworth’s 4-51. Kade Fletcher top-scored with 56 in Cawthorne 2nds’ 186-9 at home to Monk Bretton, who were all out for 95 in reply, Fletcher completing a top all-round performance with 5-51.
Division 2
Sheffield Collegiate 3rds continue to top the table after comfortably beating Millhouses Works at Abbeydale. After bowling their visitors out for 136, Collegiate eased to an eight-wicket win in the 35th over. Penistone are four points behind in second place after a very similar win over Hallam 2nds at Queen Street, where Charlie Armitage made an unbeaten 70 to see his side to an eight-wicket win after they bowled their visitors out for 130. Following closely behind these two are Norton Oakes, for whom Seph Warrington (77) and Joshua Cross (50) put on 101 for the fourth wicket against Thorpe Hesley & High Green in their 282-7 at Oakes Park. In the visitors’ reply, opener Naeem Bashir carried his bat for an unbeaten 65, sharing in an eighth-wicket stand of 74 for Ashley Reynolds (50), but they were all out for 193, with Adam Thorpe taking 4-24. Ethan Shillito took 4-24 for Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds when they bowled Aston Hall 2nds out for 117 at Green Lane; Andrew Clayton and Freddie Egginton then put Barnsley on their way to an eight-wicket win with an opening stand of 79. George Dixon returned 5.2-2-9-4 for Elsecar 2nds to help them bowl out Hatfield Town for 106 the Al-Murad Stadium; but the hosts then struggled in reply, James Winstanley taking 4-24 as Elsecar edged to a two-wicket win. Norton Woodseats beat Wakefield Thornes 2nds by eight wickets after bowling them out for 90 at Matthews Lane.
Division 3
Leaders Coal Aston 2nds extended their lead to 14 points but were pushed all the way by Upper Haugh 2nds at Stonelow. Shaun Cristinacce was the main run-scorer in the visitors’ 126-9, Shaun Trower taking 5-30; then Coal Aston lost wickets steadily in reply and 20 were needed when last man Edward Rabjohn came to the crease. He took his side over the line with some forthright blows with three balls to spare. Frecheville Community are in second place after making 187-6 at home to Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds, opener Daniel Kempton contributing 55; then David Ratcliffe took 4-23 and the visitors were all out for 125. Just one point further behind are Shiregreen 2nds, who were restricted to 155-9 away to Sprotbrough 2nds, for whom Tim Braithwaite took 4-37; skipper Thomas Langley then led the visitors to a four-wicket win in fine style with an unbeaten 105 off 98 balls. Josh Barrick (47) and Campbell Wroe (67) put on 109 for Darfield’s first wicket in their 215-8 at home to Higham, for whom Ryan Howarth took 6-39; Ryan Bagshaw then made 53 when the visitors replied, but they were all out for 159. Rockingham Colliery 2nds bowled Sheffield United out for 140 at Bawtry Road; then Andy Shore made 59 in the visitors’ four-wicket win. Worsbrough Bridge were 26-6 against Wath 2nds at Moor Road before Richard Taylor’s 76 lifted them to 153-9, whilst Yousuf Ghani took 4-42 for the hosts; Shoaib Yousuf then took 6-17 when Wath were all out for 38 in reply.
Division 4
There are new leaders in the division after Whiston Forge took full advantage of Thorncliffe & Wentworth’s slip-up by beating Ackworth 2nds at Guilthwaite Hill. After they had lost three early wickets to Dinitha Lokuliyanage (5-29), opener Omar Waine made 90 and the hosts posted a healthy 233-7; the visitors were then unable to build on a second-wicket stand of 103 by Dave Harris (74) and Kevin Booth, and finished on 170-9 with Harrison Struggles taking 4-45. Nathan Appleyard’s 51 for Bradfield Village Fellowship was crucial at the Sands, where James Brown took 7-22 and the hosts were bowled out for 117; then Alex Clayton took 4-17 when Thorncliffe & Wentworth were all out for 84 in reply. Sheffield University Staff are now joint-second with Thorncliffe after coming out on top in the Warminster Road clash of the two clubs in joint-third overnight. Josh Stevens took 4-19 for Stocksbridge when the Staff were all out for 146; but Waqas Tanveer then took 6-38 for the hosts and after looking well set, Stocksbridge were dismissed for 116 in reply. Tony Singh was amongst the wickets again for Pledwick when they bowled Kexborough out for 130 at Bence Lane; then Suthaharan Nadespillai took 4-21 and the visitors were all out for 114 in reply. Joe Horrocks’ 68 set Doncaster Town 3rds on their way to 223-6 against Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds at Blaxton; then the visitors were all out for 179 despite Dairen Hirst-Spalding’s 51. Sheffield Caribbean made 195-6 against Treeton 2nds at Washfield Lane, but an unbeaten 105 off 122 balls from Robbie Broomhead helped the hosts to a five-wicket win.
Division 5
For the second week running, leaders Wombwell Main made short work of their opponents. Mark Mustill-Hope took 4-14 when they bowled Hallam 3rds out for 57 at Sandygate; and the visitors then cantered to a nine-wicket win. Sheffield Collegiate 4ths are now second after a convincing win over Millhouses Works 2nds at Millhouses Park. Veteran Nick Gaywood made 91 in the visitors’ 233-7; and Jack Longley took 4-15 when they bowled Millhouses out for 133 in reply. An unbeaten 52 from skipper Philip Fletcher helped Maltby Miners Welfare to 167-8 at Common Lane; then Liam Woodward took 5-33 when third-placed Warmsworth 2nds were bowled out for 123 in reply. Jerin Varghese took 4-10 for Waverley when they bowled Silkstone United out for 83 at Totley; and the hosts claimed a seven-wicket win in the 23rd over. Muhammad Anwar’s 5-33 helped Barnby Dun bowl Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds out for a modest 117 at Smithywood Road; then Aditya Singh took 4-5 when the visitors were all out for 34 in reply. Skipper Sam Lee made an unbeaten 63 in Penistone 2nds’ 202-7 away to Hatfield Town 2nds; but an unbeaten 52 from Elliot Palmer took the hosts to a three wicket win after they had been 128-6 in their reply.
Division 6
Sheffield Centralians maintained their eight-point lead at the top, after beating Sheffield United 2nds at Olive Grove. Rabnawaz Khan made 56 in the hosts 200-7; then Ikrar Khan took 5-25 when the visitors were bowled out for 143 in reply, Sana Nasrat showing most defiance with an unbeaten 53. Rohan Ardley made 79 for second-placed Parkhead 2nds in their 188 all out away to Sheffield Caribbean 2nds; and the hosts were all out for 141 in reply, despite Mustafa Azam’s 56. Fishlake maintained their challenge at the top end of the table, but were made to work for their win by Conisbrough 2nds at Park Road. After bowling their hosts out for 104, Fishlake lost wickets regularly, only an unbeaten 39 from Joshua Yemm seeing them home by two wickets. In a close finish at Scholes, skipper Jamie Oliver, with 32 and 4-35 was the match winner when Scholes & Harley beat Wadworth by three runs after being bowled out for 129 batting first. Scott Jones’ 67 was crucial to Green Moor when they were bowled out for 138 by Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Church Fields, Cameron Walton taking 4-27; then Satinderpal Singh took 5-9 and the hosts were all out for 74 in reply. Opener Hamza Bhutta made 58 in Handsworth’s 186 all out against Whitley Hall 3rds at Green Moor; then Charlie Wragg’s unbeaten 56 steered Whitley to a four-wicket win.
Division 7 North
Stocksbridge 2nds still lead the table by six points after beating Rockingham Colliery 3rds by 61 runs at Bracken Moor. After they were bowled out for 162, Rowan Cogger took 4-27 when they bowled the Colliery out for 101 in reply. Mac Mahmood (73) and Harry Bamforth (65) were the main contributors to Higham 2nds’ 273-6 at home to Darfield 2nds, who were bowled out for 113 in reply, Alex Green taking 5-36. Houghton Main 2nds claimed a five wicket win over Adwick-le-Street at Adwick Park, successfully chasing down the hosts’ 142-7. Four bowlers shared the wickets when Mexborough Athletic bowled Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds out for 64 at the Beecroft Estates ground, and they then completed a seven-wicket win in the 19th over. Doncaster Town 4ths conceded to Wombwell Main 2nds.
On Monday, Rockingham Colliery 3rds bowled Doncaster Town 4ths out for 132 at Hoyland Common; then James Andrews (86 not out) and Callum Skipworth took the hosts to a ten-wicket win in the 22nd over.
Division 7 South
James Sinclair took 4-16 for Coal Aston 3rds when they bowled Sheffield Centralians 2nds out for 39 at Stonelow; but Karan Jangra then took 4-32 and the hosts lost five wickets on 34 before claiming a three-wicket win, that sees them take over at the top of the table. Ali Cheema’s 72 was the backbone of Sheffield Medics’ 186-8 at home to Allama Iqbal, for whom Sajjad Ali took 4-22; the visitors were then all out for 135 in reply, Krishna Thota taking 4-24. Rahimullah Khil took 5-14 for overnight leaders Norton Woodseats 2nds, who bowled Sheffield Transport out for 115; then home skipper Fazal Khan took 4-47 when the visitors were all out for 104 in reply. Brookhouse were 67-9 at home to The Chronicles England before Fida Hussain’s 68 at number nine took them to 137 all out; and they then bowled their visitors out for 123 in reply. Sureshkumar Venkatachalam made 104 off 106 balls in Sheffield Superkings’ 243-7 at home to Wickersley Old Village 3rds; then Guhan Marimuthu took 4-16 when the visitors were dismissed for 90 in reply.
On Monday, Sheffield Superkings bowled Sheffield Centralians 2nds out for 116 at the Charles Ashmore; then, although Uday Reddy took 4-43, Superkings completed a three-wicket win.
Division 8 North
Frickley Colliery 2nds came out on top in the division’s match of the day, when they beat West Bretton 2nds by 50 runs at Park Lane. The visitors owed their win to an unbroken last-wicket stand between Jack Horobin and Corey Hawksworth that lifted them from 102-9 to 174-9; Luke Malone then took 4-25 when Bretton were all out for 124 in reply. Eden Madras Parklands also retained their 100% record; Vinay Kumar took 4-13 when they bowled out Sprotbrough 3rds for 64 on their way to a five-wicket win. David Plummer (66) top-scored for Upper Haugh 2nds in their 219-9 against Worsbrough Bridge 2nds at the Warm Roofs ground; then five bowlers shared the wickets when the hosts were all out for 81 in reply. Opener Aaron Sleight made 81 in Pledwick 2nds’ 186-4 against Monk Bretton 2nds at the Castle Ground; and the hosts were all out for 127 in reply. Skipper Steven Dixon took 4-28 for Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths when they bowled Hallam 4ths out for 120 in response to the hosts’ 176-7 at Woolley.
On Monday, Mark Chambers (60) top-scored in Sprotbrough 3rds’ 209-5 at home to Monk Bretton 2nds, who made 176-9 in reply, with skipper Ian Davis (50) and Thomas Glover (62) putting on 104 for their sixth wicket.
Division 8 South
Leaders Waverley 2nds made hard work of beating bottom side Sheffield Collegiate 5ths at Castle Dyke. The visitors used nine bowlers when dismissing Collegiate for 90; then Warfan Zulfiqar took 6-20 when Waverley edged home with just one wicket to spare. Daniel Ferris (4-17) and Jack Dudgeon (5-17) helped De la Salle bowl Hallam 5ths out for 84 at Beauchief, and the hosts then cantered to an eight-wicket win. William Reavill took 4-15 for Elsecar 3rds when they bowled Handsworth 2nds out for 62 at Oliver’s Mount; and the visitors then eased to an eight-wicket win. Jonathan Maiden took 4-19 for Sheffield Transport 2nds when they bowled Sheffield Spartans out for 127 at Bakewell, but Spartans then restricted their visitors to 111-9 in reply.
On Sunday, Spartans bowled Collegiate 5ths out for 89, and then completed a four-wicket win in the 25th over.
On Monday, Handsworth 2nds bowled Spartans out for 152 at Oliver’s Mount, of which Junaid Javaid made an unbeaten 54 and Awais Afzal took 5-24; then Whaeed Bhatti (64) led the hosts to a three-wicket win. Elsecar 3rds bowled Hallam 5ths out for 106 at the Al-Murad Stadium; then an unbeaten 69 from Jack Pearson helped the hosts to an eight-wicket win in 16 overs.
Division 9 North
Leaders Sheffield University Staff 2nds contained Silkstone United 2nds to 93-8 at Barnsley Road; then completed a five-wicket win in the 25th over. Lokesh Ramakrishna (67) and Hariharan Shanmugam (97) put on 149 for Eden Madras Parklands 2nds’ fifth wicket at home to Wath 3rds; and then Saathvik Sathishchander took 4-5 when Wath replied, and they were all out for 28. Fishlake 2nds restricted Higham 3rds to 110-7 at Pinfold Lane, Richard Heeley making 59; then the hosts recovered from 25-4 to win by four wickets. Opener Ben Whitehouse made 50 for Dearne at home to Kexborough 2nds, but Neil Hinchliffe returned 10-5-9-5 and they were all out for 100; Scott Shillito (59 not out) and Craig Brook then took the visitors to a ten-wicket win in the 18th over. Skipper James Harris made 80 in Sprotbrough 4ths’ 155-5 at home to Mexborough Athletic 2nds; the visitors then chased down their target for the loss of seven wickets with one ball to spare.
Division 9 South
Leaders Coal Aston 4ths game against Hallam 6ths at Birkdale lasted only 15 overs; Josh Lester recorded 5-2-9-7 when Hallam were all out for 20, and the visitors quickly wrapped up a nine-wicket win. Sheffield University Staff 3rds had a hard-fought two-wicket win over Whiston Forge 2nds at Great Longstone, where an unbeaten 49 from Hamish Meichan helped them chased down Forge’s 93 all out. James Mortimore’s 86 helped Tickhill 3rds to 185-8 against De la Salle 2nds at Worksop College, and they bowled their visitors out for 110 in reply. Rituparna Ghose took 4-42 to help Oughtibridge War Memorial 3rds bowl Scholes & Harley 2nds out for 193; then 17-year-old Louis Richardson made a brilliant 81, putting on 119 for the fifth wicket with Michael Ganderton (54), to take his side to a four-wicket win. Nishant Srivastava took 4-34 for Richmond when they bowled Frecheville Community 2nds out for 141 and followed up with 47 when his side completed a three-wicket win.
