Premier Division champions Cleethorpes put Tickhill in to bat at Chichester Road, and the visitors made full used of a good batting pitch. Jim Morgan (112) put on 105 for the first wicket with Minod Bhanuka (50) and 132 for the second with Josh Court (72) as Tickhill posted 274-7. In reply, Harry Warwick made 67 and there were forties for David Mansfield and Harry Clewett, but visiting skipper James Stewart took 4-60 in his final game and the hosts were restricted to 246-9. Wakefield Thornes finished as runners-up after beating Doncaster Town at the Eco Power Oval. James Wolfenden (107) added 76 for the third wicket with Joe Billings (52) and 118 for the fourth with Jawad Akhtar (49) in their 241-5. There were then four wickets for Junaid Yousaf as Town were all out for 211 in reply, Jak Hotchkiss top-scoring with 69 for the hosts. Two former champions, Appleby Frodingham and Sheffield Collegiate, finish in fifth and sixth places respectively, after Collegiate completed a narrow win at Abbeydale. Shaaiq Choudhry took 6-35 as the visitors were bowled out for 141, Kieran Lindley top-scoring with 54, then Mat Roberts (47) held the hosts’ innings together on their way to a two-wicket win, whilst veteran seamer Paul Hilton took 6-35 for the Steelmen. There was another tight finish at the Al Murad Stadium, where relegated Elsecar posted 247-5 against Barnsley Woolley Miners, Arsalan Mir making 52 and Tanzeel Ali 72. Arsalan (5-43) then took four cheap wickets as the visitors slipped to 66-4, before Ciaran Stenton (54) started a comeback that saw his side fall just three short at 244 all out. There was yet another close finish at Washfield Lane, where Treeton were bowled out by Cawthorne for 147 after being 68-7, Mike Jepps taking 7-29 and George Barnes making 40 at number nine for the hosts. In reply, Kade Fletcher made an unbeaten 72 that saw his side to a one-wicket win in 36 overs, despite Zak Jahangir taking 4-16. At Hatfield House Lane, Shiregreen bowled Whitley Hall out for 88, then completed a seven-wicket win in the 24th over.
Championship Division champions Wickersley Old Village had to work hard for their win over Whiston Parish Church at Northfield Lane. Opener Harry Paver made 47 in the visitors’ 171 all out, then Subhaan Hussain (55) led the way to their three-wicket win. Opener Alex Hughes made 66 and Matthias Paltridge 42 to set runners-up Hallam on their way to 253-8 against relegated Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds at Shaw Lane. In reply, Andrew Clayton (48) and Freddie Chapman (41) put on 95 for the sixth wicket to help the hosts recover from 28-5, but there were four wickets each for Jay Singh and Arjith Ravi as they were bowled out for 167. The season ended in anti-climax for Ackworth, who had challenged for promotion until the penultimate week, when they were beaten at home by Sheffield Collegiate. Dan Old (75) put on 122 for Collegiate’s first wicket with Michael Goodchild (41), the Benjamin Corrigan (60) helped the visitors reach 268-6, Josh Hen-Boisen taking four wickets for the hosts. Ben Fielding then took 4-16 as Ackworth were all out for 119 in reply, Shinghi Masakadza contributing 46. Sprotbrough completed their season in fifth place, having rarely been outside the top half of the table. Akhil Akhil (80), supported by forties from Joe Toole and Dean Williamson, led them to 318-8 against bottom side Houghton Main, who were bowled out for 130 in reply, Danish Hussain making more than half their runs with 68. Lasith Lakshan (111) put on 162 for Rockingham Colliery’s second wicket with opener Johnson Marumisa (93) against Wath at Hoyland Common, and then 90 for the third with Mikey Denton (50) in their 268-3. Lakshan then completed an outstanding all-round performance with 9-27 as the hosts ended a very creditable first season back in the division in eighth place. Aston Hall finished in seventh place after beating Doncaster Town at Green Lane. After restricting the visitors to 174-7, the hosts cruised to a nine-wicket win in the 32nd over after Tanvir Singh (51) and Nathan Ward (76*) put on 114 for the first wicket. With only one defeat, to champions Wickersley, in their last eight games, the Green Lane side have something to build on in 2025.
Tickhill 2nds overturned Oughtibridge War Memorial’s ten-point lead at the top of Division 1 to deny their visitors and claim the divisional championship themselves. In a comprehensive win at Alderson Drive, Peter Mawdsley (45) and Ted Ruston (52*) helped the hosts to 211-9, then Muhammad Khan took 4-36 as the visitors were bowled out for 105 in reply. Jabari Mills (5-25) and Liam Hague (4-21) helped third-placed Darfield bowl Upper Haugh out for 53 at School Lane, but the hosts lost six-wickets in passing their modest target. Another earlier promotion contender, Whitley Hall 2nds, reached 245-9 against relegated Aston Hall 2nds, with James Ahmed (68), James Smith (40) and Lewis Wroe (51*) amongst the runs. Stan Ashton (62) and Chris Holland (49) put on 83 for the visitors’ third wicket but there were four wickets for Rylee Parker as they were bowled out for 215 in reply. Brady Saunders made 72 for Wickersley Old Village 2nds as they overhauled Wakefield Thornes 2nds ‘ 202-7 with three wickets and seven overs to spare. Liam Cottam made 61 for Warmsworth in their 212-6 at home to Conisbrough, who fell just six runs short in reply after opener Mathew Lowe had made 51. Buddhika Bopitiyaga (64) was last out for the visitors whilst Siddarth Ahhuja took 6-26 for Warmsworth. Relegated Elsecar 2nds were bowled out for 86 by Rotherham Town, who duly completed an eight-wicket win in inside 12 overs.
Coal Aston duly completed their remarkable season in Division 2, finishing 72 points clear of their nearest challengers, with a 100% record in their 20 games. Dave Rodgers (49) and Jack Hall (49) put on 104 for their first wicket in their 244 all out against Hatfield Town at Carr Side Lane, then Michael Hunter took 8-25 as the hosts were bowled out for 48 in reply. Second-placed Penistone bowled Thorpe Hestley & High Green out for 98 at Smithywood Road, but then lost six wickets in reaching their target in the 30th over. The third promotion place is still up for grabs. Hallam 2nds completed their programme with an eight-wicket win at home to bottom side Treeton 2nds, bowling their visitors out for 125, before William Coates (53) and Jack Unwin (43*) put on 97 for the second wicket in their eight-wicket win. But Hallam can be caught by Monk Bretton, just two points in arrears, who complete their season at home to Parkhead next week. On Saturday, Monk Bretton were bowled out for 154 by relegated Wath 2nds at Moor Road, but Harrison Hayes then took 4-14 as the hosts were dismissed for 108. Parkhead were 27-5 at home to Sheffield United before Parwan Ali (55) helped them reach 118 all out. Harry Pollard then took 7-40 as United were bowled out for 92 in reply.
Norton Woodseats were beaten by Bradfield Fellowship at the Sands, but the two points they gained were enough to secure them the championship of Division 3. The visitors were all out for 126 and an unbeaten 41 from opener Ben Wilson took Bradfield to a five-wicket win that keeps alive their chances of avoiding relegation. Millhouses Works had a very comfortable win over Norton Oakes at Oakes Park that secures their promotion. Kieren O’Sullivan was again their star performer, with 4-26 as Oakes were bowled out for 152, and then an unbeaten 76, sharing an unbroken second-wicket stand of 151 with Noah Ellis (75*) as Millhouses raced to a nine-wicket win in 24 overs. The final promotion place is between Cawthorne 2nds, who lead Sheffield Collegiate 3rds by five points, but the Abbeydale side have a game in hand. Cawthorne posted 251-6 against Kexborough at Dark Lane, George Charnock (115) and Spencer Wiles (56*) putting on 105 for their fourth wicket. The visitors were then all out for 188 in reply, and go into their final game with a four-point lead over Bradfield, who currently occupy the final relegation place. Mark Wilkinson hit an unbeaten 85 in Worsbrough Bridge’s 215-9 at home to Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds, for whom Ben Bentley took 4-54. In reply, the visitors were all out for 195, Zarmash Tarakhil taking 5-39, whilst Joshua Hartfield (64) and Callum Bentley (43) added 89 for the fourth wicket. Elsewhere, relegated Thorncliffe & Wentworth recorded a 36-run win at home to Higham. There were four wickets each for Thomas Swift and Gareth Kilburn, whilst Callum Ratcliffe made 42 as Thorncliffe were all out for 154. Michael Gilmour then took 4-27 when Higham were dismissed for 118 in reply.
Frecheville Community clinched the championship of Division 4 with a comprehensive destruction of Doncaster Town 3rds at Hill House. Neil Ramsden took 4-22 as the hosts were bowled out for 69, then Louis Fairest hit an unbeaten 51 off 39 balls as the visitors completed a nine-wicket win in 14 overs. The other two promotion places are still wide open. Stocksbridge are two points clear in second after completing their programme with a defeat away to Sprotbrough 2nds. Harry Smith made 62 in the hosts’ 154-7 before Idris Khan (6-21) and Will Rudkin (4-24) bowled Stocksbridge out for 91 in reply. Third-placed Shiregreen 2nds are currently third, two points above Rockingham Colliery 2nds, both clubs having one game still to play. Hammad Farooq (79) led Shiregreen to 230 all out against Upper Haugh 2nds, who reached 190-6 in reply, after getting a solid start through Matthew Bacon (72) and Ryan Tingle (43), and the four points they earned are sufficient to ensure their safety in the division. Rockingham were bowled out for 162 by Conisbrough 2nds at Park Road, Kripal Singh taking 4-35. In reply, Tom Humphries hit 67 off 41 balls, but he received little support, the the hosts were restricted to 117-9, and are now relegated. Sheffield Collegiate 4ths beat relegated Hallam 3rds after being bowled out for 126 at Sandygate, Rishab Krishnan taking 4-45. In reply, Sam Yellops (42) got the hosts back on track after being 77-4, but they were all out for 119. Richard Wilkinson took 5-10 in his final game for Wombwell Main as they bowled bottom side Silkstone United out for 103 at the I-Source Stadium. Wilkinson then put on 60 with Richard Batty (43) and was unbeaten at the end when Wombwell completed a nine-wicket win in the 21st over.
The final promotion place in a closely-contested Division 5 was decided when Sheffield University Staff completed a seven-wicket win over relegated Handsworth Junior SC. Chris Stride took 5-21 as the visitors were bowled out for 83 and the Staff completed their win in the 31st over. Leaders Barnby Dun missed the chance to seal the divisional championship when they were beaten by Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Church Fields. Sudhish Sadhu made 76 to help the hosts to 195, whilst Michael Fell took 5-58. But Jack Moran then took 5-29 and Barnby Dun were all out for 131 in reply. Coal Aston 2nds, six points behind the leaders, will be divisional champions if they win their final game against Rotherham Town 2nds next week. On Saturday they were beaten at home by Ackworth 2nds after the visitors made 165-9 batting first, Sam Swindin making 52 and Eliot Tye taking 4-45. In reply, the hosts were all out for 134, despite 62 from Zac Trower and an unbeaten 40 from William Ross, James Clarke taking 5-36. Matthew Beevers (4-13) and Andy Smith (4-23) helped Whiston Forge bowl relegated Darfield 2nds out for 101 at Guilthwaite Hill. The hosts then completed a seven-wicket win in the 16th over. Frederick Stevens took 4-35 as Fishlake bowled Rotherham Town 2nds out for 100 at Pinfold Lane, Ethan Stoddart was then unbeaten on 40 when the hosts completed an eight-wicket win in the 28th over. Bottom side Wickersley Old Village 3rds conceded to Maltby Miners Welfare.
Penistone 2nds join Warmsworth 2nds and Hatfield Town 2nds in promotion from Division 6 after a crushing win over Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds at Queen Street. After Mitchell Duty made 40 at the top of the order, Michael Brown (97*) and John Williams (72*) put on an unbroken partnership of 179 for the fifth wicket to propel the hosts to 267-4. Bradfield were then all out in reply for 92. Leaders Warmsworth completed their programme with a seven wicket win over Mexborough Athletic at the Beecroft Estates ground. The hosts were all out for 142 before Muhammad Khan made 54 off 47 balls, and then Kelvin Defty (44*) and Mark Mullen (38*) put on an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 75 to take the visitors to a win that leaves then six points clear at the top. Hatfield completed a comprehensive win over Millhouses Works 2nds at Millhouses Park. Amir Riaz made 44 out of Works’ 131 all out, then Carl Norris hit an unbeaten 72 at the top of the order in Hatfield’s seven wicket win. If they beat relegated Handsworth Junior SC 2nds next week, Hatfield will win the divisional championship. Lohith Muniraju made 46 out of Caribbean Sports 2nds’ 153 all out at home to Handsworth, Hamza Hussain taking 5-37 for the visitors, whose relegation was confirmed when they were bowled out for 39 in reply, Asad Ali taking 4-25. Whitley Hall 3rds promotion chances were ended by a 33-run defeat away to relegated Higham 2nds, whose relegation was confirmed nonetheless. Luke Woodhouse (45) top-scored in the hosts’ 175 all out, whilst Joe Chatterton took 4-30 for Whitley, who were then bowled out for 142 in reply, despite 42 from Josh Singleton. Sheffield United 2nds’ relegation was also confirmed after they lost at home to Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds. Callum Gray took 4-35 for the visitors and United were 49-5 before recovering to 170 all out, Shahid Hussain making 46. In reply, John Ashton took Thorpe Hesley to a seven-wicket win with an unbeaten 83, sharing in a second-wicket stand of 84 with Tom Arnold (42). On Sunday, Mexborough bowled Handsworth out for 127, then fought their way to a three-wicket win in the 30th over.
Scholes & Harley are the new champions of Division 7, securing the title by beating Upper Haugh 3rds at Scholes. Craig Moffatt took 5-23 as the visitors were bowled out for 107, then Scholes reached their target for the loss of six wickets in the 34th over. Green Moor’s promotion was also confirmed, when Doncaster Town 4ths conceded their game at Hill Top. Norton Oakes 2nds’ were relegated when they lost to Adwick-le-Street at Adwick Park. Chris (4-9) and Teddy (4-10) Lovejoy combined to bowl Oakes out for 145, after Adam Thorpe (50) and Tom Bassindale (42) had put on 85 for the third wicket. Then James Wadsworth (45) and Chris Lovejoy (43) put on 93 for the first wicket to set up Adwick’s eight-wicket win. Brookhouse, who had challenged near the top for most of the season, were bowled out for 165 by Sprotbrough 3rds at Bullcroft, Fida Hussain top-scoring with 70. Robbie Graves (66) and Eric Brown (42) then put on 87 for the third wicket in Sprotbrough’s four wicket win. Anthony Siddall (49) and Ant Barnes (106) put on 129 for the second wicket in Stocksbridge 2nds’ 204-7 at home to Eden Grove Parklands, Simon White taking 6-59 for the visitors. Daniel Morton (76*) and Tom Daykin (76) then put on 124 for the third wicket to set up Parklands’ six-wicket win. Houghton Main 2nds conceded to Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths.
In Division 8, champions Parkhead 2nds were beaten by relegated Frecheville Community 2nds at the Hobson Bowl. The hosts made 146-9 before Jack Day took 4-22 as Parkhead were bowled out for 120 in reply. Runners-up Rockingham Colliery 3rds made 195-6 against Barnby Dun 2nds at Glass Park, James Andrews leading the way with 71. In reply, Leo McConway-Gee (48) and Zully Shah (66) put on 104 for the first wicket, but the innings then fell away and they finished on 163-9. Thomas Green took 4-22 when Kexborough bowled Hallam 4ths out for 163 at Bence Lane, but Narender Manohar then took 5-31 and the hosts were bowled out for 145 in reply. Relegated Mexborough Athletic 2nds were bowled out for 65 by Monk Bretton 2nds at the Castle Ground, Jake Richardson taking 4-16. Hayden Brown was then unbeaten on 45 off 23 balls as the hosts passed their target without loss of wicket inside nine overs. Elsewhere, Wombwell Main 2nds conceded to Elsecar 3rds and Worsbrough Bridge 2nds conceded to Norton Woodseats 2nds. On Sunday, Norton Woodseats against Wombwell Main was abandoned without a ball bowled.
Silkstone United 2nds won the top-of-the-table clash against Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds at Barnsley Road in Division 9. Jez Dyson (4-16) and Emma Wrightson (3-3-0-4) combined to bowl the champions out for 41, a target that United passed for the loss of just two wickets in the 13th over. Dearne bowled Eden Grove Parklands 2nds out for 50 at Parklands and needed just 7.3 overs to knock off the required runs for the loss of just two wickets. Silkstone have now completed their programme and are six points ahead of Dearne, who will claim the second promotion place if they beat Wath 3rds in their final game next week. Elsewhere, Wath 3rds against Scholes & Harley 2nds was abandoned without a ball bowled, and Brookhouse 2nds conceded against Fishlake 2nds.
Sunday cup-finals
The K3 Dental Cup final, between Castleford and Sheffield Collegiate at Shaw Lane, and the President’s Trophy final, between Rockingham Colliery 2nds and Sheffield Collegiate 3rds, at Church Fields, Whiston, were abandoned without a ball bowled, and will be rescheduled for early next season.
