The two leading teams in the Premier Division both enjoyed comfortable wins. Muhammad Uzair Mumtaz (115 off 94 balls) and Jawad Akhtar (79) put on 144 for Wakefield Thornes’ fourth wicket as they piled up 313-6 against Appleby Frodingham at Field Lane. Charlie Bourne, the league’s joint-top wicket-taker so far this season, then took a second successive ‘five-for’ (6-37) as the visitors were bowled out for 162. Wickersley Old Village were put in to bat by Doncaster Town at Northfield Lane, and Manan Vohra’s 64 was the top score in their 200-7. In reply, Jaden Fell (69) and Bhargav Merai (59) put on 105 for the second wicket to set up the visitors’ seven-wicket win. Eight points behind the two leaders are Cleethorpes, who prevailed in another of the tight finishes that characterised their title win last season. Josh Knapton continued his fine start to the season with 4-51, as did Harry Allinson (67) for the visitors to Chichester Road, Cawthorne, who were restricted to 186-8. Jordan Cook, with an unbeaten 74, then steered the hosts to a two-wicket win. Sheffield Collegiate went from one extreme to another, following last week’s capitulation with a League record opening stand of 305 unbeaten, with Jack Timby making 135 and Abdul Fasheeh 156, after they were put in to bat by Whitley Hall at Abbeydale. In reply, the visitors reached only 177-9, despite 64 not out from James Moorhouse. Haroon Tariq top-scored for bottom club Shiregreen in their 211-8 against Tickhill at the Brookfield Oval, then skipper Ross Diver (50 off 39 balls) got the hosts off to a brisk start in reply, before Jim Morgan (77 not out) and Joel Whelan (73 not out off 54 balls) took the hosts to an eight-wicket win in 32 overs with an unbroken third-wicket stand of 130. Barnsley Woolley Miners moved into the top half of the table with a convincing win over the other winless side, Hallam, at Shaw Lane. Opener William Chapman (91) provided the backbone for the hosts’ 243-7, then Sean Whitehead (4-29) and Jash Giyanani (4-30) combined to bowl the visitors out for 130. 
 
In the Championship Division, Tickhill 2nds took advantage of defeats for the two joint-leaders to move to the top with a narrow win at Ackworth. Edward Cole made 68 and Mohammed Khan took 4-50 as the hosts were all out for 223; then Ibrahim Safi’s 95 proved decisive despite a couple of late scares, and the visitors won by one wicket with eight balls to spare. Lalith Mohan took 5-23 as Elsecar bowled Whiston Parish Church out for 115 at Church Fields, and the visitors completed a five-wicket win in the 27th over. Aston Hall gained their first win of the season in fine style, this over previously unbeaten Sheffield Collegiate 2nds at Green Lane. Josh Coulson’s unbeaten 84 was the highlight of the hosts’ 241-8, whilst Tate Miller took 6-65 for Collegiate. The visitors then slumped to 39-6 in reply, and despite a minor recovery, were all out for 143. Doncaster Town 2nds are up to fourth place after a 45-run win over Sprotbrough at Town Fields, the hosts posting 190-9 before bowling their visitors out for 145, with Oliver Booth taking 5-26. Wath won their first game of the season, after Sam Whitlam had taken 5-24 to help them bowl out Oughtibridge War Memorial for 119 at Moor Road. There were four wickets for Ikramullah Naseri when the hosts replied, but Wath still secured a three-wicket win with over 16 overs to spare. There was also a first win for Rockingham Colliery, despite their being bowled out by Treeton for 137 at Hoyland Common, Mark Cummins taking 5-25 and Ben Birtles 5-33. It was then the turn of Paul Cummins, who took 6-37 as the visitors were all out for 108 in reply. 
 
As in the Championship, the two joint-leaders in Division 1 were both beaten, and Upper Haugh took advantage by comprehensively beating Wickersley Old Village 2nds at Wentworth Road to move top. Skipper Tommy Hyde (100 not out off 100 balls) shared stands of 75 for the fourth wicket with Connor Sanderson (50) and an unbroken 147 for the fifth with Samuel Thompson (63 not out), in the hosts’ 299-4. Parvez Asghar was then in the wickets again, with 5-37 as Wickersley were all out for 136 in reply. Coal Aston’s 23-game winning run in the league finally came to an end when they were beaten at Warmsworth at Common Lane. Skipper Nathan Swift (86) gave the hosts a solid platform for their 259-6; then Jake Marshall (4-56) and Limar Pierce (4-56) combined to bowl the visitors out for 228, despite Jack Hall’s 71. The League’s leading run-scorer this season, Jabari Mills (94), led the way for Darfield in their 277-8 against Whitley Hall 2nds at Baxter Field, and Saman Kursheed took 5-60 as the hosts were bowled out for 218 in reply. Skipper Mathew Lowe contributed 50 at the top of the order to Conisbrough’s 279-7 against Houghton Main at Middlecliffe Lane. The wickets were then shared by the four visiting bowlers as Houghton were all out for 185 in reply. Monk Bretton came out just on top in the local derby with Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds at the Castle Ground. Joshua Van Oudtshoorn took 5-52 as the visitors were dismissed for 140; then Lewis Bray (4-47) helped reduce the hosts to 120-9 in reply, only for the last pair to knock off the 21 required runs with five wickets to spare, last man Craig Heppenstall contributing 15 off 16 balls. 
 
Parkhead are now clear leaders in Division 2 after a seven-wicket win over bottom side Thorpe Hesley & High Green at Smithywood Road. Keeper Garvin Serieux made an unbeaten 102 off 81 balls in the hosts’ 207-8, then Luke Davison (78) and keeper Joe Milner (48) put on 118 for the first wicket to set up Parkhead’s win. Frickley Colliery suffered their first YCSPL defeat, to Cawthorne 2nds at Dark Lane. After being put in to bat, Cawthorne posted 288-7, with opener Brennan Wilson making 102 and Harry Sullivan 70 – these two sharing a third wicket stand of 157. Ryan Gibson took 5-43 when the visitors replied, and they were all out for 225. Norton Woodseats lost their first game of the season too, away to Elsecar 2nds, and join Cawthorne and Frickley in a three-way tie for second place. Callum Johnson made 76 in the hosts’ 234-5, then the experienced Jason Meadows took 4-50 as Woodseats were bowled out for 206 in reply. Two points behind these three are Hallam 2nds, who made 233-8 after being put in to bat by Aston Hall 2nds at Crimicar, Daniel Bothma taking 4-56 for the visitors, who were then bowled out for 190 in their reply. Wakefield Thornes 2nds bounced back from last week’s defeat to Woodseats, emphatically beating Millhouses Works at Millhouses Park. Lewis Upton (4-10) and Billy Donnachie (4-4) bowled the hosts out for 51 before Thornes cantered to a ten-wicket win in 11 overs. Azahat Sallem took 4-39 to help Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds bowl Sheffield United out for 151 at Waterside Gardens, then keeper Richard Everitt top-scored with 55 in Oughtibridge’s eight-wicket win. 
 
The top three in Division 3 all won, to preserve their unbeaten records. Despite Liam Hague’s 5-58 for hosts Worsbrough Bridge, Hatfield Town reached 219-9 batting first, then Aiden Coulbeck took 4-30 as Bridge were all out for 102 in reply. Daniel Longley took 4-37 to help Sheffield Collegiate 3rds bowl Bradfield Village Fellowship out for 129 at the Sands, and the visitors cantered to an eight-wicket win in the 31st over. Jack Riley (65) led the way for Rockingham Colliery 2nds, who made 195-6 after being put in to bat by Frecheville Community at the Hobson Bowl; Kelham Bennett again being amongst the wickets for the Colliery with 5-27, as they bowled their hosts out for 132 in reply. Daniel Baldwin (85) and Joshua Cross (104 not out off 84 balls) took Norton Oakes to 268-5 against bottom club Higham at Royd Lane; and they then bowled their hosts out for 152 in reply. There was an excellent game at Washfield Lane, where 50s from Steve Foster and skipper James Hobson helped Treeton 2nds to 231-4 against Sheffield Caribbean, for whom Monty Douglas top-scored with 65 in their reply, before Foster completed a fine all-round performance with 4-17 to help his side secure a nine-run win. 107 off 66 balls by Akhtarzaman Khan was the highlight of Shiregreen 2nds’ 236-7 against Wath 2nds at Hatfield House Lane, and then Vigneshwar Ramesh took 6-24 as the visitors were bowled out for 107 in reply. 
 
Division 4 leaders Sprotbrough 2nds maintained their unbeaten record with a ten-wicket home win over Barnby Dun, who were bowled out for 100 after electing to bat first. Second-placed Thorncliffe & Wentworth had an equally convincing win over Coal Aston 2nds at Stonelow. Liam Page made 72 in the visitors’ 214 all out; then James Brown (4-33) and Jason Clark (4-36) bowled the hosts out for 74. David Sedgwick’s 81 helped Stocksbridge rally from 122-6 to 212 all out against Sheffield University Staff at Bracken Moor; and there were four wickets for Jake Vickers as the visitors were bowled out for 178 in reply. Kexborough were restricted to 175-9 by Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds at Bence Lane; then Ishaq Shenwari (51) top-scored as the visitors recorded a four-wicket win. Ewan Whitaker’s 84 for Doncaster Town 3rds helped them reach 203-9 away to bottom side Sheffield Collegiate 4ths, for whom Fasihullah Mohammed took 6-60. Collegiate then reached 170-8 in reply. Upper Haugh 2nds bowled Wombwell Main out for 124 after putting them in to bat at the I-Source Stadium, and then completed a six-wicket win in just 22 overs. 
 
Ackworth 2nds took advantage of Warmsworth’s defeat to move to the top of Division 5. There were four wickets for Rajinder Kundra as the new leaders restricted Penistone 2nds to 217-8 at Queen Street, and Alex Clemo was unbeaten on 77 when Ackworth completed a five-wicket win. Hatfield Town 2nds made 201 all out against Warmsworth 2nds at Carr Side Lane, and then bowled their visitors out for 138 to move just two points behind them in the table. Hallam 3rds missed the opportunity to move to the top, when they were beaten by Whiston Forge at Sandygate. An unbeaten 54 from Corey Manderson at number eight lifted Forge to 225-9, then Josh Cooke took 4-51 when the hosts were 213-9 in reply. Gary Porter took 4-20 to help Maltby Miners Welfare bowl Silkstone United out for 124 at Muglet Lane, but Chris Barraclough (4-42) and Joseph Mosley (4-22) then helped the visitors earn a 22-run win. Liam Stainthorpe hit 106 off 53 balls to lift Conisbrough 2nds from 97-7 to 280 all out against Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Park Road, but then opener Joe Yellott (113) led the visitors to a six-wicket win with two balls to spare. 
 
Waverley are six points clear at the top of Division 6 after a 107-run win over Whitley Hall 3rds, Nideesh Alukkal (75) top-scoring in their 251 all out at Totley, after which they bowled their visitors out for 144. Green Moor are second after Curtis Coles’ 5-22 helped them bowl the joint leaders at the start of play, Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds, out for 116, but they then struggled somewhat before completing a two-wicket win. Thorpe Hesley are now joint-third with Millhouses Works 2nds, who bowled Darfield 2nds out for 89, Andy Belfield taking 4-15, before completing a six-wicket win. Harry Marshall took 5-21 for Wickersley Old Village 3rds when they bowled Mexborough Athletic out for 114 in response to their 183-8 at Brookhouse. Zarkhan Abrahamkhil took 5-32 for Sheffield Caribbean 2nds when they bowled Scholes & Harley out for 169 at the Common, but the hosts were then bowled out for 118 in reply. Mahmood Hussain was unbeaten on 72 in Handsworth Junior SC’s 257-5 against Wadworth at Oliver’s Mount, and the visitors were restricted to 158-7 in reply. 
 
The two leaders in Division 7 both won, to keep two points clear at the top. Adwick-le-Street made a modest 139-8 against Higham 2nds at Adwick Park, before Teddy Lovejoy took 4-24 to help earn the hosts a 48-run win. William Adams took 8-20 for Upper Haugh 3rds when they bowled Sheffield United 2nds out for 106 at Bawtry Road, and the visitors duly completed a six-wicket win. Third-placed Stocksbridge 2nds took control of their clash with Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths at Woolley when openers James Hague and David Smith, with 59 each, put on 91 for the first wicket. They went on to post 213-5 and restricted the hosts to 123-8 in reply. Handsworth Junior SC 2nds made 202-6 against Doncaster Town 4ths at Blaxton, then Ankit Patel top-scored with 64 as the hosts overhauled their target with two wickets and one ball to spare. There were four wickets each for Hashim Mahroof and Ian Davis when Parkhead 2nds bowled Brookhouse out for 180 at Ecclesall Road, and the hosts then completed a three-wicket win with three balls to spare. The tightest finish of the day came at Stainborough, where Rockingham Colliery 3rds were all out for 137 against Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds, whom Hennie Swart (64 not out) then led to a one-wicket win with one ball to spare. 
 
Norton Woodseats 2nds and Monk Bretton 2nds remain unbeaten at the top of Division 8; the former overwhelmed Dearne by 167 runs after Jawad Ijaz (83) helped them to 228-8 at Matthews Lane, and Zahid Momand took 5-19 as the visitors were dismissed for 61 in reply. Keeper Paul Bowmer (73) helped Monk Bretton to 201-6 against Sprotbrough 3rds at Bulcroft, where the hosts were 125-7 in reply. Hallam 4ths lost their unbeaten record after Norton Oakes 2nds’ Benjamin Gaskell took 5-19 to help bowl them out for 104 at Oakes Park, and the hosts completed a five-wicket win in the 16th over. Houghton Main 2nds restricted Eden Grove Parklands to 142-8 at Parklands, then Shokoor Ahmadzai was unbeaten on 82 when the visitors completed a six-wicket win in the 23rd over. Barnby Dun 2nds beat Wombwell Main 2nds, when, chasing 198 to win, keeper Blake Blythe (89 not out) and Jake Harris (65 not out) rescued them from 53-4 with an unbroken fifth-wicket partnership of 147. Finally, Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds had an eight-wicket win over bottom club Kexborough 2nds
 
There are also still two unbeaten clubs in Division 9; Worsbrough Bridge 2nds beat Scholes & Harley 2nds by 67 runs and Frickley Colliery 2nds beat Frecheville Community 2nds after Marcus Heppinstall (87) and Lewis Collis (89) helped them run up 285-6 in a 167-run win. Anish Thomas took 6-21 for third-placed Waverley 2nds when they beat Mexborough Athletic 2nds by 96 runs; Thomas Revill was 73 not out when Elsecar 3rds completed an eight-wicket win over Oughtibridge War Memorial 3rds; skipper Ciaran Hanvey made 119 in Sheffield University Staff 2nds’ 209-run win over Fishlake 2nds; Silkstone United 2nds beat Wath 3rds by five wickets; and Eden Grove Parklands 2nds conceded to Whiston Forge 2nds
 
On Sunday, Ackworth did themselves and the YCSPL proud when they beat Old Elizabethans by seven wickets, to win the postponed 2024 final of the ECB Vitality T20 Plate. Joshua Hen-Boisen made an unbeaten 80 off 41 balls as Ackworth chased down 167 to win. Earlier, Shinghi Masakadza, Robert Withers and Luke Townsend had each claimed two wickets in a fine all-round bowling performance that restricted the Worcestershire side to 166-9. 
 
There were also four first round ties in the President’s Trophy. Skipper Gurvinder Singh (109) and Jack Pemberton (81) put on 138 for the third wicket in Upper Haugh 2nds’ 313-7 against Whiston Forge, who were bowled out for 146 in reply, Callum Plummer taking 4-22. There were 70s from Brett Pickford and William Ross, and an unbeaten 68 from Tom Trower, in Coal Aston 2nds' 294-5 against Whiston Parish Church 2nds, who were bowled out for 189 in reply, with Zac Trower taking 5-22. Tim Braithwaite took 5-26 for Sprotbrough 2nds, who bowled Hallam 3rds out for 134, and Callum Marsh top-scored with 59 when they completed a seven-wicket win. Finally, Wombwell Main beat Penistone 2nds by 21 runs.
