A fifth successive win for Cleethorpes, this time over champions Sheffield Collegiate at Chichester Road, keeps them at the top of the Premier Division. Josh Knapton (3-48) took early wickets before Mayank Mishra weighed in with 5-38 as the visitors were bowled out for 157. Tom Keast (90*) and Bill Kirby (57) then put on 119 for the hosts’ first wicket as they gained a nine-wicket win in the 35th over. Owen Smith (89) put on 73 with Jacob Cumming (39) for Barnsley Woolley Miners’ first wicket against Tickhill at Alderson Drive, and then added 83 with Sheryaar Ali for the 3rd, but from 228-4 the visitors slipped to 235-9 as Alex Rowland took 6-48. Adam Copley (4-71) then took three early wickets when Tickhill replied, and they were 41-4 before Minod Bhanuka (70) and skipper James Stuart (58) added 90 for the fifth wicket. Keeper Jordan Lowe then added a brisk 39 to help Tickhill reach their target with three wickets and an over to spare, and they remain eight points behind the leaders. Joe Billings (49) and Jawad Akhtar (40) added 86 for third-placed Wakefield Thornes’ fourth wicket to rescue them from 36-3 against Shiregreen at Hatfield House Lane. Sana Ullah Khan (4-54) and Mohammad Khan (3-70) did most of the damage as Thornes were bowled out for 222. Abu Sufyan (68) came in when Shiregreen were 95-4 in reply, and he kept them in the hunt until being last out to Akhtar (3-58) at 200, whilst Sijomon Joseph took 4-32. Tanzeel Ali top-scored with 33 for bottom side Elsecar when they were bowled out by fourth-placed Doncaster Town for 145 at the Al-Murad Stadium, whilst Joe Gallagher took 3-21 for the visitors. James Dobson (70) put on 112 for Doncaster’s first wicket with Robert Grace (35*) as the visitors cruised to an eight-wicket win in the 23rd over. Six points separate six teams in fifth to tenth positions, and only one of these finished on the winning side on Saturday, Cawthorne, who had a very convincing win over Whitley Hall at Baxter Field. Liam Wiles took 4-42 as the hosts were bowled out for 121, with only Callum Bethel (31) passing 20. Nicholas Lowe anchored the visitors’ reply with an unbeaten 55, and they reached their target with seven wickets in hand in the 25th over. Second-bottom Treeton narrowed the gap to safety with a comfortable win over Appleby Frodingham at Washfield Lane. Charlie Bourne (5-29) and Ben Birtles (3-27) helped bowl the visitors out for 121, Kieran Watson top-scoring with 35, before Treeton passed their target with seven wickets and 27 overs to spare.
Wickersley Old Village gained a ninth successive win at the top of the Championship Division, but only after overcoming a spirited Aston Hall side at Green Lane. Ben Simpson (78) and James Butler (54) put on 132 for the visitors’ first wicket and Abdul Qayoom hit 39 off 25 balls to help Wickersley to 246-5. In reply, the hosts were 62-5, but opener Tanvir Singh (137 off 134 balls) and Josh Coulson put on 130 for the sixth wicket to give the visitors a fright. Then skipper Iftikhar Afzal (3-41) dismissed Coulson and the last five wickets fell for 44, leaving Aston ten runs short, Jake Rodgers (3-54) taking the last wicket with two balls left. Hallam maintained their challenge in second place, but they too were given a fight, this time by Sheffield Collegiate 2nds at Abbeydale. The visitors were in trouble at 53-5, Matt Tyas (4-50) taking four quick wickets after skipper Nick Dymock (33) had got them off to a brisk start, but then Matthias Paltridge (41) and Alex Davis (105*) added 111 for the sixth wicket and they posted 239-7. The hosts were 20-3 in reply, but Adam Burkinshaw (49) and Tyas (61) added 119 for the fourth wicket to give them a chance. Daniel Longley then contributed 34, but there were three wickets each for James Smedley and Arjith Ravi as Collegiate were restricted to 223-9. Ackworth remain just eight points behind the top two after a hard-fought win at home to fourth-placed Sprotbrough. Thomas Pepper (98) and Akhil Akhil (45) were the main contributors to the visitors’ 223-9, Joshua Hen-Boisen taking 4-48 for the hosts; then Ackworth slipped to 45-4 and 88-5 before Mohammed Khan (77) and Shinghi Masakadza (52) added 117 for the sixth wicket to take them within sight of victory, which was achieved off the last ball with two wickets left, Dean Williamson taking 3-32 for the visitors. Whiston Parish Church’s outside promotion hopes took a knock when they were beaten by second-bottom Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nds at Shaw Lane. Anthony Godley made 38 out of the hosts’ 172-9, whilst Arman Jaffer took 3-27 for the visitors. In reply, Whiston were 80-5 before Danny Kemp (81) and Dale Stanley (49) put on 84 for the fifth wicket, but when Stanley fell to Mansoor Shinwari (3-30), the last five wickets fell for seven runs, William Nicholson finishing with 5-55 as Barnsley pulled off a remarkable win by one run. Harry Grindle (106) and Lasith Lakshan, with an unbeaten 206 off 139 balls (27 fours and seven sixes), put on 258 for Rockingham Colliery’s second wicket against bottom side Houghton Main at Hoyland Common, helping them to a formidable 335-2. Peter Lomas then took 6-22 as the visitors were bowled out for 122 in reply, skipper Danish Hussain top-scoring with 35. Keeper Simon Ward (44) and Hayden Byrne (69) put on 100 for Wath’s second wicket against Doncaster Town 2nds at the Eco Power Oval, but Bradley Heaps (3-43) and Warren Graca (3-47) were the main wicket-takers as the visitors were bowled out for 206. Stuart Guy made 115 when the hosts replied, but he lacked support, and Michael Bates (5-46) and Alex Roebuck (3-32) bowled the visitors to an eight-run win.
Whitley Hall 2nds were the big winners in Division 1, their comfortable win over Darfield at School Lane putting them just five points behind leaders Oughtibridge War Memorial. Tim Smith (6-42) and Sam Woodcock (3-31) bowled the hosts out for 136, Jonathan Parkin top-scoring with 44. Alex Littlewood (55*) and Sam Chatterton (32*) then contributed an unbroken third wicket stand of 84 as the visitors eased to an eight-wicket win in the 28th over. Oughtibridge missed the opportunity to increase their lead at the top when they fell to a last-ball defeat away to relegation-threatened Wakefield Thornes 2nds. The visitors were 49-4 before Will Cooper (54) added 69 for the fifth wicket with Danuka Hettiarachchi (43) and 65 with keeper Richard Everitt (54) for the sixth, and they recovered to 222-7, whilst Edward Fowles finished with 4-65 for Thornes. After an indifferent start, Jonathan Scott (97) got the hosts’ innings going, and Junaid Yousaf (43 not out off 33 balls) hit the last ball for six to secure a three-wicket win. Rotherham Town are now just ten points behind the leaders, in joint third place with Darfield, after their comfortable win over second-bottom Aston Hall 2nds at Clifton Lane. Syed Shah (126 off 123 balls) and keeper Bilal Hanif (139 off 143) put on 213 for the hosts’ third wicket as they reached 318-6, Zaheer Mirza taking 5-87. When the visitors replied, Stan Ashton top-scored with 44, but Jawad Saleem took 3-27 as they were all out for 232. Tickhill 2nds kept their promotion hopes alive when Ibrahim Safi took 5-14 to help them bowl Warmsworth out for 98 at Common Lane, and Peter Mawdsley was unbeaten on 41 when the visitors completed an eight-wicket win in the 20th over. Conisbrough slipped two places to sixth after losing to Upper Haugh at Wentworth Road. Parvez Asghar (4-25) and Habil Arshad (3-36) were again to the fore as the visitors were dismissed for 104, then Ali Asghar top-scored with 31 as the hosts completed a seven-wicket win in the 15th over. Subhaan Hussain (55) and Liam Heathcote (37) helped Wickersley Old Village 2nds to 197 all out at home to bottom side Elsecar 2nds, for whom Shaun Pedler (4-52) and Vineeth Venugopalan (3-32) were the chief wicket-takers. Opener Kieran Higgins then made an unbeaten 78 to guide his side to a four wicket win in the 47th over, sharing in a fourth wicket stand of 70 with keeper Paul Fenn (40), whilst Charlie Harrison took 3-41 for the hosts.
With five bowlers sharing the wickets, runaway Division 2 leaders Coal Aston bowled second-bottom side Treeton 2nds out for 111 at Stonelow, only opener Muhammad Mukarram (46) offering much for the visitors. In reply, keeper Jack Hall made an unbeaten 59 and the hosts strolled to an eight-wicket win in the 20th over. Second-placed Penistone are now 18 points clear over Monk Bretton after a hard-fought win over bottom side Wath 2nds at Moor Road. Arsalan Khalid made 41 of the hosts’ 148 all out, whilst Matt Scholey returned 5-30 for Penistone. In reply, Chris Matthewman made 46, but Mark Barlow (4-30) and James Guthrig (3-43) caused problems for the visitors, and they squeezed to a one-wicket win with two balls left. By beating Parkhead at Crimicar, Hallam 2nds closed the gap to third place to two points, but they have played two games more than the two teams immediately above them. William Coates (69) and skipper Alex Coates (42) helped the hosts to 191 all out, whilst Harry Pollard (4-54) and Luke Davison (5-35) took the bowling honours for the visitors. In reply, once Davison (32) and Harrison Vinall (43) had been separated after a second-wicket stand of 51, wickets fell regularly, and James Chetwood finished with 5-49 as Parkhead were all out for 144. Opener Darryl Williams (64) helped Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nd to 110-1 against Sheffield United at Waterside Gardens, but after that, Faiz Hussain took 5-42 for visitors, and with three wickets for Fawad Ahmed, the hosts were bowled out for 221. In reply, Musa Altaf (69*) and skipper Fazil Reza (65) added 107 for the second wicket to set United on their way to a seven-wicket win in the 38th over. Thorpe Hesley & High Green moved within two points of the clubs just above the relegation zone by beating Hatfield Town at Carr Side Lane. Renaldo Brathwaite (35) and keeper Tiger Dalby (50*) helped the visitors to 199-8, Aidan Coulbeck taking 3-56 for the hosts. Brathwaite then followed up with 6-34 when Hatfield replied, and they were all out for 95.
Division 3 leaders Norton Woodseats were well-beaten by their closest rivals, Norton Oakes, at Oakes Park. Iwan Hutchings (52) and Joshua Cross (42) put on 81 for Oakes’ fourth wicket and Jack Dickinson hit 78 off 48 balls as they reached 244 all out, Aamir Ashfaque (4-47) and Wajih Naqvi (4-40) the successful bowlers for the visitors. In reply, Woodseats were all out for 134, Daniel Baldwin taking 4-31 and Cross 3-32, whilst Ikramullah Naseri made 41 for the visitors. Sheffield Collegiate 3rds took advantage of the leaders’ slip to narrow the gap at the top to 16 points, by beating bottom side Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds at Abbeydale. Nick Gaywood (46) and Daniel Craig (63) put on 96 for the hosts’ first wicket, then Rubaiyat Abrar took over with an unbeaten 110 off 75 balls, including 14 fours and three sixes, as Collegiate reached 282-7. Joshua Hartfield made 51 in the visitors’ reply, but there were three wickets apiece for Shafiullah Shinwari and Gaywood as they were bowled out for 193 in reply. Third-placed Cawthorne 2nds have increased the gap below them to 11 points after beating Bradfield Village Fellowship at Dark Lane. Liam Carroll (4-20) and Spencer Wiles (4-15) were the chief destroyers as the visitors were bowled out for 124, Millie Gray top-scoring with 41. George Charnock (41) and Joseph Hayes (69) put on 74 for the first wicket when the hosts replied, and they strolled to a seven-wicket win in 19 overs. Fourth-placed Millhouses Works lost ground on those above them when they lost at home to Caribbean Sports. Kieran O’Sullivan and skipper Lee Stewart each made 47 in Works’ 129-8, Shahrukh Khan taking 3-39. In reply, none of the visitors reached 30, but with bits and pieces down the order, they sneaked home by one wicket with four overs to spare, Andy Belfield taking 3-42 for the hosts. Worsbrough Bridge are now just four points behind Millhouses, after a comprehensive win away to second-bottom Thorncliffe & Wentworth. Lewis Wilkinson took 3-18 and Mark Wilkinson 3-7 as the hosts were bowled out for 97, and, in reply, Zarmash Tarakhil was unbeaten on 59 when the visitors reached their target without loss of wicket in the 23rd over. Higham complete the top six after beating Kexborough at Royd Lane. Keeper George Deegan (56) and Kyle Clayton (47) added 85 for the fourth wicket in the hosts’ 220-9, whilst Thangarajah Jerushan (3-43) and Matty Woods (4-40) were the most successful bowlers. In reply, Richard Burgess made 61 and Wood was unbeaten on 65, these two adding 71 for the seventh wicket after the visitors were 80-6, but Clayton took 4-54 and they were restricted to 193-8.
Stocksbridge maintained their lead at the top of Division 4 after a big win over second-placed Rockingham Colliery at Bracken Moor. Keeper Andrew Hirst (90) and Jack Murfin (55) rescued the hosts from 20-3 with a stand of 116 for the fourth wicket, and there were three wickets each for Kelham Bennett and Alan Lockwood as the hosts were bowled out for 242. In the visitors’ reply, Jayden Matsikenyeri made 61, but he lacked support, and with Callum Heywood taking 6-38, Rockingham were bowled out for 156 in reply. Frecheville Community took advantage of Rockingham’s defeat by beating Conisbrough 2nds at Park Road, and leapfrogging them into second place. The hosts were all out for 60, David Ratcliffe returning 3-3 and Todd Saxelby 3-9, and Adam Ramsden was unbeaten on 38 when the visitors reached their target without loss of wicket in the 12th over. Kieren Dinnage (75) and Jonathan Scaife (43) helped Wombwell Main to 206 all out after they were put in to bat by Doncaster Town 3rds at the I-Source Stadium, Joe Woodiwiss (4-52) and Oscar Jones (4-56) the main wicket-takers for the visitors. In reply, opener Mark Lockwood made 46, but Doncaster were 121-5 when he was out, and were grateful to Finley Truman (39) and the lower order for getting them over the line by two wickets off the last ball of their 46 overs. Sprotbrough 2nds dropped a place to fifth after losing at home to Shiregreen 2nds. Skipper Nazam Mohammed made 56 out of the visitors’ 174 all out, whilst Idris Khan (4-42) and Nick Graves (3-50) took the bowling honours. In reply, Aqeel Ahmad (3-15) and Muhammad Sarfraz (3-54) helped bowl the hosts out for 137, with Fraser McLean unbeaten on 41. Bottom-of-the-table Silkstone United gave themselves a ray of hope with a narrow win over Sheffield Collegiate 4ths at Barnsley Road. Put in to bat, the hosts were all out for 117, Lawrie Brennan taking 4-20 and Aarav Singh 3-26. In the visitors’ reply, skipper Brennan made 45 but Chris Barraclough led the home attack with 3-32 and four other bowlers took wickets as Collegiate were bowled out five short on 112. In a relegation battle at Sandygate, Upper Haugh 2nds asked Hallam 3rds to bat first and bowled them out for 117, Thomas Wills (35) and Rishab Krishnan (31*) the principal contributors, whilst there were three wickets apiece for Muhammad Khan and Yousuf Ghani. Chris Brownlee took 5-18 when the visitors replied, Ryan Tingle made 43, and the scores were level with the last pair at the crease when the last ball was bowled; Adam Perry was then run out going for the winning run, and the teams had to settle for a tie.
Wins for the top four in Division 5 mean that there is no change at the top, with 16 points covering the four teams, then a 20-point gap to fifth. Leaders Barnby Dun had a convincing win over sixth-placed Rotherham Town 2nds, after putting them in to bat first at Glass Park. Opener Omar Waine made 42, but that was as good as it got for the visitors, and they were all out for 141, James Copley taking 6-27. The hosts were 75-5 in reply, but an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 67 by Michael Fell (36*) and keeper Niall McCarthy (33*) took them to a five-wicket win with 11 overs to spare. Sheffield University Staff, just four points behind the leaders, inflicted a heavy defeat on Wickersley Old Village 3rds at Wentworth. Waqas Tanveer (37) and James Chisholm (56) in the middle order helped the Staff to 244 all out, Owen Taylor taking 5-54 for the hosts. In the Wickersley reply, skipper Richard Berry made 38, but Heston Christian took 5-21 and Chris Stride 4-10, and they were bowled out for 77. Keeper Callum Fuller (49) and Oliver Quinn (32) were in the runs as Maltby Miners Welfare totalled 198-8 at home to Ackworth 2nds, for whom Daniel Levick took 5-27. Gary Porter took 5-37 when the visitors replied, and they were all out for 120. Level with Maltby in third place are Coal Aston 2nds, who had a comfortable win at Fishlake. Opener Zac Trower dominated the visitors’ innings with 163 from 131 balls, with 27 fours and two sixes, and William Ross (42) helped him add 104 for the sixth wicket in their 258 all out. Matt Windall, James Yeaman and Richard Copley took three wickets each for the hosts, who were then all out for 144 in reply. Keeper Ben Metcalfe top-scored for Fishlake with 33, whilst Ross took 3-10 for the winners. Opener Robert Horton (40) and keeper John Wagstaff (46*) top-scored for Whiston Forge in their 196-5 after being put in to bat by Whiston Parish Church 2nds at Church Fields. In the hosts’ reply, Mark Daly took 3-40 and Andy Smith 3-44 and they were bowled out for 169.
Division 6 leaders Hatfield Town 2nds were put in to bat by fourth-placed Mexborough Athletic 2nds at the Beecroft Estates ground and were bowled out for 146, Waqas Sikander was unbeaten on 53 for the visitors, whilst Jordan Rouane took 4-29 and Jonathan Guest 3-38 for Athletic. In reply, skipper Elliot Hunt made 53 at the top of the order, but Kevin Marshall took 5-43 and Parish were all out for 124. Second-placed Warmsworth 2nds returned to winning ways against Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds at Smithywood Road. Put in to bat, the hosts made 213-8, with middle-order pair Dominic Proctor (64) and John Ashton (68) contributing the majority of the runs, whilst Joe Stringfellow took 3-42 for Warmsworth. Jonathan Iball (48), Liam Cotton (44) and Muhammad Khan (44) were all in the runs when the visitors replied, and they won by five wickets with two overs to spare. Third-placed Penistone 2nds recorded a huge win over Millhouses Works 2nds at Queen Street. Sam Lee (96) and James Sen (142 off 119 balls) put on 263 for the second wicket in the hosts 292-4, Asif Raja taking a notable 3-19 in five overs for the visitors. In reply, Works were all out for 55, Charlie Tippett returning 5-4-4-5. Relegation-threatened Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds pulled off a much-needed win over another lowly side, Handsworth Junior SC 2nds, at the Sands. Mark Wragg (70) and Paul Garnett (57) put on 141 for the first wicket for the hosts, as they registered 173-5, Monir Choudhury taking 3-44 for Handsworth. When the visitors replied, Ewan Fearnley took 3-23 and Luc Meijer 3-9 and they were all out for 104, despite 37 from opener Mohammed Fiaz. Keeper Kieran Benson Hodgson (33) and Joe Chatterton (36) helped Whitley Hall 3rds to 178-9 against Sheffield United 2nds at Bawtry Road, Mansoor Khaderkhil and Rafaqat Hussain taking three wickets each for United. Joe Webster took 4-16 when the hosts replied, and with support from Charlie Wragg (3-21) and Joe Chatterton (3-25) United were all out for 81. Whitley made it a very successful weekend, moving up to level with Penistone in third place, by beating Handsworth at Baxter Field on Sunday. Joe Chatterton took 5-31 and Rylee Parker 3-15 as Handsworth were bowled out for 130, then Wragg top-scored with 31 as Whitley knocked off the runs with three wickets and four overs to spare.
There was a big win for Division 7 leaders Green Moor, over Norton Oakes 2nds at Hill Top Lane. Harry Airstone (86) received good support from keeper Julian Bates (40) and James Christopherson (43) as the hosts posted 244-6, Carl Fairhurst the most successful bowler for the visitors with 3-35. In reply, Oakes reached 104-3, Adam Bunting making 35, but they then lost their last seven wickets for 22, Curtis Coles taking 3-14. Callum Sverdloff returned 7.5-3-5-5 for Scholes & Harley when they bowled Eden Grove Parklands out for 80 at Scholes, and opener Tom Wade made 33 to set the hosts on their way to a seven-wicket win in the 17th over, that takes them into second place. Brookhouse dropped a place when they lost to Houghton Main 2nds at Middlecliffe Lane. Put in to bat, the hosts made 186-9, with Ahsan Ali Shaikh (33) and Muhammad Anwar (41) top-scoring, whilst Tharindu Perera took 3-57 for the visitors. When Brookhouse replied, Joe Yellott made 54 at the top of the order, and Thomas Snow 32 not out in the middle order, but they were restricted to 133-6. Stocksbridge 2nds narrowed the gap to fourth-placed Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths by beating them at Woolley. Skipper Chris Thwaites (52) and keeper Ben Lyons (45) put on 89 for the fourth wicket in the visitors’ 138-9, whilst Hayden Parker-Wake took 3-10 for Barnsley. When the hosts replied, keeper Craig Wilkes made 35 and Buck Rees-McClure 42, but Jenson Beever took 5-13 and they were all out for 128. Upper Haugh 3rds were 99-5 against Doncaster Town 4ths at Hill House, but an unbeaten 53 from keeper Tim Whitehouse took them to 149-6. It was not enough however, and an opening stand of 83 between Muhammad Ali Shabir (30) and Natalie Brown (46) set the hosts on their way, and Jack Henshaw hit 31 not out to give them a five-wicket win with eight balls left. Teddy Lovejoy (4-16) and Matthew Cumpsty (3-22) helped Adwick-le-Street bowl Sprotbrough 3rds out for 104, Umar Ali top-scoring with 33 for the hosts, then Ali took 3-13 and Finley Jones returned 6-5-4-4 as Adwick were bowled out for 52 in reply.
There were some rather one-sided games in Division 8, although leaders Rockingham Colliery 3rds lost five wickets in chasing down 114 to beat Norton Woodseats 2nds at Matthew Lane. Woodseats were 59-7 after being asked to bat first, then Abdullah Hakimi hit 50 off 35 balls to take them to 114, Callum Woodhead taking 3-20 for the visitors. Then Rockingham lost early wickets before keeper Stephen Bell’s unbeaten 48 saw them home. Second-placed Parkhead 2nds made 228-8 against second-bottom Mexborough Athletic 2nds at Ecclesall Road, with Ian Davis (57) and Rohan Ardley (38) adding 90 for their fourth wicket and Charlie Aston taking 3-56. Tom Wickstone then took 5-3 in three overs, and Logan Rust 3-17, as Athletic were bowled out for 58 in reply. Josh Barnes (69) and Jas Singh (87) were put on 101 for third-placed Hallam 4ths’ second wicket against bottom side Worsbrough Bridge 2nds at the D&I Home Improvements Ground, as the visitors posted 244-3. In reply, Robert Stubbings (54) and Tom Lunn (42) put on 101 for the second wicket, but nine wickets then fell for 41 runs as Narender Manohar took 7-27 and Worsbrough were all out for 142. Barnby Dun 2nds lost ground on the top three after being well-beaten by Monk Bretton 2nds at the Castle Ground. Keeper Ben Davis, with an unbeaten 152 off 124 balls at the top of the order, and Andy Taylor (42*) put on an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 119 as the hosts piled up 266-3. 50s by keeper Ryan Pell and Jake Harris were not enough to stop the visitors from falling to a 100-run defeat, as they were restricted to 166-6 in reply. Relegation-threatened Kexborough 2nds were restricted to 112-8 at home to Wombwell Main 2nds, for whom Callum Whitehead took 3-11, whilst opener Thomas Woods top-scored for the hosts with 34. Chris Ferris then made 38 as Wombwell recorded an eight-wicket win in the 28th over. Elsecar 3rds moved closer to safety after beating Frecheville Community 2nds, now 14 points below them, at the Hobson Bowl. George Dixon took 4-25 as the hosts were bowled out for 126, then Keeper Thomas Reavill (64*) and Jack Pearson (60*) eased the visitors to a ten-wicket win in the 21st over.
Leaders Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds edged closer to promotion from Division 9 after winning a high-scoring contest against bottom side Whiston Forge 2nds at Guilthwaite Hill. Steven Ratcliffe (63) and Oliver Moorhouse (63) put on 110 for the visitors’ second wicket as they made 275 all out, Adam Booth taking 4-64 for Whiston. In the hosts’ reply, opener Sam Cooper made 51 and keeper Jaime Ord hit 47 at number 10 as they reached 220 all out, Archie Hill taking 4-22. Third-placed Silkstone United 2nds were all out for 207 against Brookhouse 2nds at Rose Lane, Lucas Quilter and Jack Durkan both making 30s for the visitors, whilst Oliver Milnes (4-27) and Rosie Gleadall (4-39) were amongst the wickets for Brookhouse. When the hosts replied, Quilter took 5-10 and they were all out for 50. Chris Williams (57), aided by thirties from skipper Simon Sverdloff and Lee Moxon, helped Scholes & Harley 2nds to 202-9 against Eden Grove Parklands, for whom Stuart Stubbins took 3-50. In reply, Neil Hemming took 4-21 to help restrict Parklands to 85-7. Fishlake 2nds conceded to second-placed Dearne.
Sunday’s cup-ties
In the remaining quarter-final of the K3 Dental Cup, Sheffield Collegiate beat Harrogate at Abbeydale by five wickets. Player-of-the-match Shaaiq Choudhry took 3-18 as the visitors were bowled out for 180, then made an unbeaten 80, sharing a 100-run fourth-wicket partnership with Mat Roberts (40).

In the semi-finals of the President’s Trophy, Rockingham Colliery 2nds beat Caribbean Sports by seven wickets. Kelham Bennett (4-30) and Matthew Cox (4-38) helped bowl out Sports for 169, Andre Jackson making 40 at the top of the order. Joe Evans (70*) and Jayden Matsikenyeri (55) then put on 85 for Rockingham’s third wicket to set up their win. In the other semi, Daniel Craig (55), Adrian Meadows (47), Rubiyat Abrar (81 off 52 balls) and Shafiullah Shinwari (54* off 37 balls) propelled Sheffield Collegiate 3rds to 271-4 against Thorncliffe & Wentworth, who were then bowled out for 180 in reply, Lawrie Brennan taking 3-34, whilst Connor Brunt (44) and skipper Jack Pearson (38) top-scored for Thorncliffe.
The final will be played on Sunday 8 September at Whiston Parish Church CC.
