YCSPL under 23s v MCC 
 
In the annual fixture at Abbeydale last Thursday, our League under 23s side bowled a strong MCC side out for 158, with Thomas Currie taking 4-26. James Moorhouse made 37 for MCC and Matt Godden 39. In reply, Jacob Cumming (61) out on 66 for the first wicket with Drew Silvester and 53 for the second with Sheryaar Ali (59*) as the under 23s won by five wickets with four overs to spare. A big well done to Sheryaar and his team!

Cleethorpes retained their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier Division by beating bottom side Elsecar after putting them in to bat at Chichester Road. Aarush Shinde (42) and Jason Meadows took the visitors to 63-0 before the latter was dismissed by Mayank Mishra (5-19), after which wickets fell regularly. Only Arsalan Mir (32) then offered much resistance as his side was bowled out for 123. In the hosts’ reply, Harry Warwick and Jordan Cook (52) put on 71 for the third wicket as Cleethorpes cantered to a five-wicket win in 27 overs. Second-placed Tickhill kept up their challenge, completing a double over last season’s champions Sheffield Collegiate at Alderson Drive. Connor Fisher (5-47) and Adi Sreedharan (3-40) were the main wicket-takers as the visitors were bowled out for 166 after being asked to bat first, only opener Jack Timby (36) and Henry Eldred (32) passing 30. In reply, the hosts were 38-3 before Minod Bhanuka (61) and Fisher (50*) put on 57 for the fourth wicket to turn the game Tickhill’s way, Eldred also taking three wickets for Collegiate, and they completed a three-wicket win in the 43rd over. Third-placed Wakefield Thornes lost ground when they were well-beaten by Barnsley Woolley Miners at Shaw Lane. Adam Copley took 6-36 as Thornes were bowled out for 107 after being put in to bat. Owen Smith (47) and Jacob Cumming (41*) then put on 102 when the hosts completed a nine-wicket win in 20 overs. Whitley Hall moved up to fourth place after beating Doncaster Town at Baxter Field. Robert Grace (32) held the top order together for the visitors, but Harsha Rajapaksha, with an unbeaten 135 off 88 balls, including an eighth wickets stand of 96 with Curtis Free, took them to a daunting 279-8. But in reply, Andrew Pickering (89) put on 107 for the first wicket with Matt Cartwright (45) and 109 for the second with James Moorhouse (76 off 66 balls) then Harrison Wood weighed in with 39 off 27 balls as the hosts completed a remarkable six-wicket win in the 45th over. Cawthorne, just one place above the relegation spots, gained a valuable win after Archie Greaves (42) and Kade Fletcher (43) put on 78 for the sixth wicket to rescue them from 35-5 against Appleby Frodingham. Matthew Harris and Jack Forrester took three wickets apiece as the hosts were all out for 187, and, in reply, none of the visitors reached 20 against Amir Shahzad (4-39) and Danish Aziz (3-23), and they were bowled out for 117. There was also an important win for Shiregreen over second-bottom Treeton at Hatfield House Lane. Opener Joe Norbury made 54 in the visitors’ 179 all out, Mo Ilyas 6-55 being the chief destroyer for the hosts. Haris Khan (33) got the hosts off to a brisk start before Muhammed Khan took over with an unbeaten 74, joining with Abu Sufyan (36*) in a crucial unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 71. 
 
Wickersley Old Village retained their 20-point lead in the Championship Division after beating Doncaster Town 2nds at Town Fields. Joe Horrocks (34) and Jack Woodiwiss (41) put on 71 for the first wicket for the hosts, Oscar Harris making 41 in the middle-order, but Jake Rodgers (3-30) and Mark Cummins (3-45) helped restrict them to 176-7. In reply, James Butler (51) and Nathan Taylor (41) had an opening stand of 88, then Vishvaraj Jadeja hit 46 off 44 balls and the visitors recorded a five-wicket win in the 34th over, despite Warren Graca’s 3-41. Hallam had a resounding win over promotion rivals Whiston Parish Church at Crimicar. Only Arman Jaffa (56) really got going in the visitors’ 173-9, whilst Arjith Ravi (3-47) and Joe Cooper (3-58) were the main wicket-takers for Hallam. In reply, Alex Hughes, with an unbeaten 53, and skipper Nick Dymock, 100 not out off 80 balls, took Hallam to victory without loss of wicket in the 31st over. Ackworth kept pace eight points behind the leading pair after Amitpaul Kundra (62) and Shinghi Masakadza (48) led them to 219 all out at home to Barnsley Woolley Miners, for whom Nicholas Robinson took 3-47 and William Nicholson took 4-63. Dale Longfield then took 6-28 as the visitors were bowled out for 51 in reply. Ten points behind Ackworth are Sprotbrough, who had a very convincing win over Wath at Moor Road. The visitors scored runs all the way down the order, with Thomas Pepper making 35, Akhil Akhil 33 and Daniel Wright 40 in their 241-9, whilst Michael Bates took 4-32 for the hosts. Wright completed a great all-round performance with 7-30 when Wath replied, and they were all out for 107, Harrison Knowles making 33. Benjamin Carrigan (4-17) and George Bartlett (3-21) helped Sheffield Collegiate 2nds bowl Houghton Main out for 135, of which Janak Valand made 38 and Sandeep Salgotra 40. In reply, Dylan McDonald (64) and Michael Goodchild (46) put on 129 for the first wicket as Collegiate cruised to an eight-wicket win in the 23rd over. At Green Lane, Aston Hall posted 235-9 against Rockingham Colliery, Nazakat Khan (56) and Shoaib Khaliq (61) putting on 109 for the fifth wicket after Mark Barnard made 32 at the top of the order. Jawad Aktar took 4-46 for the visitors, for whom Harry Grindle made an unbeaten 95 in reply, putting on 74 for the second wicket with Lasith Lakshan (44) and 71 with Mikey Denton (41) for the third. However, they fell 15 runs short of their target at 220-5 after their 50 overs. 
 
Oughtibridge War Memorial gained an important win over third-placed Conisbrough at Park Road, to keep them at the top of Division 1. Josh Whitaker (33) and Nathan Chadburn (67) helped the hosts to 212 all out, Dilshan Sukumar (4-67) and Tuffail Dar (3-50) again to the fore in the bowling department for the visitors. In their reply, Naveed Arif (67) led the way for Oughtibridge, but they were made to work hard for their three-wicket win, with Whitaker taking 3-62. Six points behind the leaders are Darfield, who also had a fine win at home to another promotion hopeful, Warmsworth. Siddarth Ahhuja (70) and Liam Marshall (78*) were the chief run-getters for the visitors, whilst home skipper Joe Stickland took 6-60. In reply, Saman Kursheed made 46 for the hosts, but they were 107-5 when Spencer Lavender (78*) and Jordan Watson (41*) came together in an unbroken sixth-wicket match-winning stand of 109. Whitley Hall 2nds maintained their challenge in third, seven points behind the top two, after beating Upper Haugh at Wentworth Road. The visitors were 139-6 when Sam Chatterton was out for 45, but Douglas Muzawazi (76) then marshalled the lower order to take them to 223 all out; Habil Arshad taking 4-56 and Parvez Asghar (4-50). In reply, Connor Sanderson made 37 for Upper Haugh, but Jack Myers took 3-57 and Sam Woodcock 3-32 as they were bowled out for 156. Rotherham Town move up a place to fifth after an exciting run chase against Wakefield Thornes 2nds at Field Lane. George Harrison (91) and keeper Jonathan Scott (117) put on 180 for the hosts’ third wicket in their 240-7, Jawad Saleem taking 4-54 for Rotherham. In reply, the visitors were 131-7 before skipper Hussnain Hussain (42*) and Danish Rasheed (52) put on 81 for the eighth wicket to help them to a two-wicket win. Keeper Peter Smith (61) and Isaac Spencer-Jones (70) put on 123 for Wickersley Old Village 2nds’ third wicket as they made 198-9 at home to Tickhill 2nds. Ibrahim Safi was the top bowler for the visitors with 4-44. Tickhill then slipped to 135-8 against Spencer-Jones (5-61) in reply, but the lower order rallied around keeper James Wilkes (47) and skipper Neil Conchie (39*), who added 62 for the eighth wicket to give them a two-wicket win. In the battle of the bottom two, Zeeshan Ahmed (96) put on 124 for Aston Hall 2nds’ first wicket with Nathan Ward (51), then 78 for the second with Declan Ward (43), as the visitors posted 264-4 against Elsecar 2nds at the Al-Murad Stadium. Skipper Kieran Higgins made 71 at the top of the order for the hosts, and there were useful contributions from Enzo Campagna (35) and Alfie Gibson (41*), but Yousaf Ali followed up his unbeaten 36 off 16 balls at the end of the visitors’ innings with 5-74 and Elsecar were all out for 215. Aston Hall live to fight another day, but it looks bleak for the hosts, 48 points adrift of safety. 
 
In Division 2, Coal Aston’s win over Thorpe Hesley & High Green at Stonelow has confirmed their immediate return to Division 1 with six games still left to play. The visitors were 28-5 before Garvin Serieux made 50 and gave them something to bowl at with 140 all out, Oscar Oborn-Corby taking 5-17 and Shaun Trower 3-43 for the hosts. In reply, Dave Rodgers (44) and keeper Jack Hall (37) put on 84 for the first wicket to set up another Coal Aston win, which they duly completed despite Jordan Hansen and Chris Fisher causing a few scares with three wickets each. The game between the two joint-second placed clubs at the Castle Ground resulted in a narrow win for Penistone, who move six points clear in second place. Tom Reid (53) and Charlie Armitage (55) put on 81 for Penistone’s second wicket, and then skipper Tom Exley (44*) and Chris Walmsley, with an unbeaten 46 off 34 balls, added an unbroken 83-run fourth-wicket stand as the visitors recorded 220-3. Daniel Ogden (40), Jenson Hayes (37) and keeper Luke Bullingham (35) got the hosts off to a good start, but Matt Scholey (4-51) and Walmsley (3-53) bowled Penistone back into the game, and only an unbeaten 41 from Steven Honeyman kept Bretton’s hopes alive right up to the end, and they fell four runs short at 216-9. Fourth-placed Hallam 2nds’ hopes took a knock as they lost away to Hatfield Town. Skipper Alex Coates (63) helped the visitors to 174-7 after they had been 79-5, then Hatfield were 77-6 before James Stewart (78*) and Josh Platt (30*) won the game with an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 98. Sheffield United kept their promotion hopes alive by beating Treeton 2nds at Washfield Lane. Ryan Hardy made 47 out of the hosts’ 122 all out, whilst Ilyas Mohammed took 3-18 for the visitors. In reply, United reached their target for the loss of six wickets in the 32nd over. Oughtibridge War Memorial 2nds had a comfortable win over bottom side Wath 2nds at Waterside Gardens, after James Guthrig’s 69 at the top of the order helped the visitors to 186 all out, Lewis Wake taking 5-37 and Lahiru Lihinikadu 3-50 for the hosts. In reply, Joseph Boyden (92*) and skipper Oliver Cockbill-Black (71*) added an unbroken 135 for the third wicket to see their side home in the 44th over. 
 
Another win for Norton Woodseats at the top of Division 3, this time away to Kexborough, maintained their 28-point lead at the top of the table. The hosts were 46-5 but Robert Mynett (46) lifted them to 160 all out, whilst Aamir Ashfaque took 4-33 for the visitors. Woodseats did not have things all their own way in reply, as Thangarajah Jerushan took 3-37 and Neil Hinchliffe 3-23, but they reached their target with three wickets and 3.5 overs to spare, opener Nandha Krishnamoorthy contributing 30. Rubaiyat Abrar made 168 off 118 balls, with 28 fours and three sixes, as second-placed Sheffield Collegiate 3rds enjoyed a comprehensive win over Norton Oakes at Oakes Park. Andy Simpson contributed 38 in a fifth-wicket partnership of 105 with Abrar, and Seth Warrington took 4-42 as the visitors posted 327-9. In Oakes’ reply, Joshua Cross made 39 but Rafy Sharpe took 3-36 and Nick Gaywood 3-15 and they were all out for 154. In a tight promotion race, Cawthorne 2nds held on to the third spot after a big win over Thorncliffe & Wentworth at Lound Side. Opener Joseph Hayes made 169 off 123 balls for the visitors, with 20 fours and five sixes, receiving good support from skipper Lewis Skelly (38) in a third-wicket stand of 117, and Liam Carroll (38*) in their 298-6. When Thorncliffe replied, Afzaal Ahmed took 4-22 and Skelly 4-14, only James Brown (40) offering much resistance as the host were bowled out for 108. Millhouses Works kept themselves in the hunt with a 27-run home win against Bradfield Village Fellowship. Peter Chamberlain led the way with 69 as they reached 160 all out, Noah Jackson taking 3-17 and Harry Crossley 3-44. Jackson top-scored with an unbeaten 31 when the visitors replied, but Lee Stewart took 5-29 and they were all out for133. Higham and Worsbrough Bridge are just outside the promotion places, and they met at Royd Lane. Paul Wroe (38) and Kyle Clayton (50) top-scored in Higham’s 219-9, Mark Wilkinson taking 3-25. Zarmash Tarakhil then almost single-handedly won the game for the visitors as he hit 136 off 108 balls with 22 fours and four sixes, as they reached their target with seven wicket and 6.5 overs to spare. Mid-table Caribbean Sports took on bottom side Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rds at the Common, where opener Andrew Jackson (63) held the innings together, but his side were 98-8 when Waqas Mahroof (37) joined him in a ninth-wicket stand of 51, that enabled them to reach 165-9. Alex Gough (4-55) and Ethan Shillito (3-41) were the pick of the visitors’ attack. In reply, opener Shillito top-scored with 33, but Muhammad Naseem took 5-28 and Barnsley were all out for 113. 
 
The big game in Division 4 was at Hoyland Common, where overnight leaders Rockingham Colliery 2nds faced Frecheville Community in third. Louis Fairest top-scored with 30 for the visitors as they made 160-8, then Aadil Hassan took 5-13 when the hosts were bowled out for 126 in reply; Jayden Matsikenyeri (43) adding 70 for the fourth wicket with Andy Shore after Rockingham had been 10-3, whilst none of their colleagues reached double figures. Leaders Stocksbridge were given a bit of a scare by second-bottom Upper Haugh 2nds at Bracken Moor. Opener John Musgrave (42) held the hosts’ innings together in the early stages, but they were 136-8 before number nine Callum Haywood (42) helped them get to 191 all out, Steven Reynolds (5-30) and Muhammad Khan (4-40) doing most of the damage with the ball. In reply, Upper Haugh were 122-8 before Khan (59 off 49 balls) put on 58 for the eighth wicket with Muraad Ghani to raise hopes of a shock win, but Jake Vickers (3-19) dismissed Khan, and Joe Goddard (4-18) quickly took the last wicket with the visitors just ten runs short. Fourth-placed Sprotbrough 2nds had a straightforward win over Conisbrough 2nds at Melton Road, after Idris Khan took 5-35 to help bowl the visitors out for 98. Home skipper Thomas Langley (40 in 20 balls with five fours and three sixes) and Harry Smith (38*) then put on 76 for the first wicket, and Sprotbrough cantered to a nine-wicket win in the 11th over. Joint-fifth Doncaster Town 3rds kept their outside chance of promotion alive by beating bottom side Silkstone United at Barnsley Road. Put in to bat, the hosts made 197 all out; William Clegg (60) and skipper Chris Barraclough (45) the main run-scorers, whilst Joe Woodiwiss took 3-46 and Sungjoon Sohn 3-46. In reply, Laura Shiewe made 37 after the openers had gone cheaply, then Michael Clarke-Linney (43) and keeper Oscar Jones (49*) helped the visitors to a six-wicket win in the 37th over. Level with Doncaster are Wombwell Main, who rattled up 281-6 at home to Hallam 3rds, with Kieren Dinnage (71), Jonathan Scaife (57) and Thomas Goldsby-West (65) all in the runs. Moneeb Ahmed (41) and Rishab Krishnan (34) top-scored when the visitors replied, but with five bowlers taking a couple of wickets each, Hallam were bowled out for 183. Sheffield Collegiate 4ths drew level with Shiregreen 2nds after beating them at Abbeydale, Ihtisham Mohammed making 44 for the visitors, but Lawrie Brennen took 4-51 and Aarav Singh 4-30 to help bowl them out for 150. In reply, Collegiate were 25-6 before Anthony Miller (46*) and Brennan (57) put on exactly 100 for the sixth wicket, and they got home with three wickets and two overs to spare. 
 
Sheffield University Staff snatched the lead in Division 5 for just one day, when they took advantage of Barnby Dun’s day off by beating second-bottom side Darfield 2nds at Warminster Road. Siddharth Patwardhan took 6-39 and Chris Stride returned 4.1-4-0-3 as the visitors were bowled out for 63, and Waqas Tanveer was unbeaten on 32 when his side completed an eight-wicket win in the 13th over. Then, on Sunday, Barnby Dun returned to the top by beating Whiston Forge after being put in to bat at Glass Park. Ben Salter (40) and skipper Alex Pepper (100 not out off 73 balls with nine fours and eight sixes) helped the hosts to 237-8, Andy Smith taking 3-66 for Forge; then Ciaran McCarthy (3-33) led a varied attack as the visitors were bowled out for 180 in reply, opener Robert Horton, keeper Steve Cowles and Andrew Lingard all contributing thirties. Maltby Miners Welfare were also put in to bat, by Handsworth Junior SC at Muglet Lane, and they reached 210-9, thanks largely to skipper Liam Woodward (35) and Jordan Beighton (54), whilst Waqas Rashid and Mohammad Tufail took three wickets each for the visitors. When Handsworth replied, Beighton took 4-30 and Peter Brewster 3-35 as they were bowled out for 174, Monir Choudhury top-scoring with 42. Fourth-placed Coal Aston 2nds struggled somewhat to beat bottom club Wickersley Old Village 3rds at Wentworth. There were two wickets each for Sam Hudson and Laurence Pickford as the hosts were bowled out for 101, opener James O’Connell contributing 43. In reply, the visitors were 27-5 before Pickford and Hudson (41) put on 72 for the sixth wicket to lead them to a three wicket win in 21 overs, Owen Taylor and Harry Marshall both taking three wickets for the hosts. Ackworth 2nds lost ground in the promotion race when they were beaten by Rotherham Town 2nds at Clifton Lane. Opener Omar Waine (81) added 142 for the third wicket with Murad Rasheed (76) as the hosts compiled 233-6, Finlay Martin taking 3-58. Keeper Dave Harris (42) and Thushara Kiriella (41) added 84 for Ackworth’s sixth wicket, but that was not enough to get them over the line, and they finished 19 short on 214-9, Abdul Jamil taking 5-37 for Rotherham. Whiston Parish Church 2nds eased their relegation worries with a crushing win over Fishlake at Church Fields. George Jenkinson returned 7-5-9-6 as the visitors were rolled out for 39, a target that the hosts passed for the loss of two wickets in six overs. 
 
Leaders Hatfield Town 2nds inflicted a second successive defeat on Warmsworth 2nds, at Common Lane, to strengthen their grip at the top of Division 6. Skipper Kelvin Defty (59) and Sanket Amin (38 not out off 11 balls with two fours and four sixes) enabled the hosts to post 164-4, but Adil Sikander (60) and Waqas Sikander (32*) gave Hatfield a six-wicket win in 35 overs. Joint third-placed Penistone 2nds had a comfortable win over relegation-threatened Caribbean Sports 2nds after Noah Shale (30) and Scott Jones (37) helped them to 178-8 after being put in to bat, Mustafah Azam taking 3-30 for the hosts. Azam then scored 30 in Sports’ reply, but Nathan Barker (3-26) and Shale (3-2) helped bowl them out for 104. Level with Penistone are Mexborough Athletic, who had a narrow win over Sheffield United 2nds at Bawtry Road. Connah Brettell played a decisive knock of 40 for the visitors, when no-one else reached double figures, and they were all out for 100, Rafaqat Hussain taking 3-38. In United’s reply, James Beresford took 5-16 and Brandon Cooke 3-42, as United were all out for 93, Tawqeer Hussain top-scoring with 30. Opener Tom Winter (45) and James Evans (76) were in the runs for Bradfield Village Fellowship 2nds when they scored 214-8 against Millhouses Works 2nds at the Sands, whilst Ben Shepherd took 2-23 for the visitors. In reply, Millhouses were 136-6 but Cameron Ronksley stepped up with 55 off 46 balls to take them to a two-wicket win with 11 balls to spare, Andy Belfield the best of the hosts’ attack with 3-28. Higham 2nds conceded to Thorpe Hesley & High Green 2nds, who also picked up 12 points on Sunday, by beating Handsworth Junior SC 2nds. Opener John Ashton, with 37 and Callum Gray (37 at number eight) took Thorpe Hesley to 175-8, Majad Hussain taking 3-40 for Handsworth. When the latter replied, Aditya Singh (4-23) and Rob Horne (4-15) bowled them out for 90. 
 
Third-placed Scholes & Harley moved to within 12 points of Division 7 leaders Green Moor after beating them at Scholes. The hosts were all out for 160, Jake Sharp taking 3-33, and then Callum Sverdloff (5-20) was the chief destroyer as the visitors were bowled out for 136, of which opener Harry Airstone made 45. Second-placed Brookhouse are now only three points behind the leaders after a comprehensive win over Norton Oakes 2nds at Rose Lane. Tharindu Perera (3-22) and Jasneet Gulati (3-11) did most of the damage as the visitors were bowled out for 56. Thomas Hogan was unbeaten on 33 when Brookhouse passed that total without loss of wicket in the 12th over. The two clubs level on points in fourth place both lost. Eden Grove Parklands made 195-7 against Upper Haugh 3rds at Hooton Pagnell, with Daniel Morton making 49 and Callum Freeman 37 not out, whilst Adam Perry (3-29) and Callum Plummer (3-52) were the most successful bowlers. In reply, skipper Tim Whitehouse made 36 but Simon White returned 10-8-6-4 and Freeman 3-21 and the hosts were all out for 70. Barnsley Woolley Miners 4ths are level with Upper Haugh, and they were bowled out for 81 by Sprotbrough 3rds at Woolley, Oliver Heseltine making 30 whilst Dan Clarke (3-24) and William Braithwaite (7.3-3-9-4) were amongst the wickets. Robbie Graves was unbeaten on 49 when the visitors recorded an eight-wicket win in the 22nd over. Opener Teddy Lovejoy was unbeaten on 47 when Adwick-le-Street made 136-8 against Doncaster Town 4ths at Blaxton, with Glyn Booth taking 3-28 for the hosts. When Doncaster replied, wickets fell regularly, with Christopher Jeeves taking 5-34, and the last pair were at the crease when they scored the winning run in the 36th over. Jenson Beever returned 9-5-8-5 as Stocksbridge 2nds bowled Houghton Main 2nds out for 42 at Middlecliffe Lane. Gul Safi took 4-12 when Stocksbridge replied, but it was not enough to prevent the visitors recording a six-wicket win in the 15th over. 
 
Last week, the top four in Division 8 all won, and the net outcome was the same this week, albeit that Hallam 4ths got their 12 points as a result of Wombwell Main 2nds conceding. Leaders Rockingham Colliery 3rds bowled Mexborough Athletic 2nds out for 79 at the Beecroft Estates ground, Simon Grindle taking 6-19 and Ryan Whitehouse 3-9. The visitors then recorded an eight-wicket win in 16 overs. Second-placed Parkhead 2nds put relegation-threatened Elsecar 3rds in to bat at Ecclesall Road, and Joseph Fulk took 5-16 as the visitors were bowled out for 72. Skipper Thomas Jackson scored 38 in the hosts’ reply, and they gained a seven-wicket win in the 18th over. These two are now 36 points ahead of the field. Barnby Dun 2nds, in fourth, beat Worsbrough Bridge 2nds at the D&I Home Improvements Ground. Leo McConway-Gee took 5-22 as the hosts were bowled out for 71, then Zully Shah hit an unbeaten 35 to help his side to a six-wicket win in the 16th over. Kexborough 2nds won their mid-table clash against Norton Woodseats 2nds at Matthews Lane. Thomas Woods made 57 and Hassan Yasin took 3-39 as the visitors made 141-8, then Woods took 4-18 to help bowl his side to an eight-run win, despite Raza Shah’s 45 for Woodseats. Monk Bretton gained a valuable 12 points to lift them out of the relegation zone when they narrowly beat fellow-strugglers Frecheville Community 2nds at the Hobson Bowl. Jake Richardson (3-23) and Alfie Robinson (3-2) helped them bowl the hosts out for 120, Then keeper Ben Davis struck an invaluable 64 at the top of the order to give his side the platform for a two-wicket win, despite a remarkable effort from Adam Gibson (6-18). 
 
Thorncliffe & Wentworth 2nds have retained their 30-point lead at the top of Division 9, after opponents Fishlake 2nds conceded. Second-placed Dearne maintained their promotion credentials by inflicting a heavy defeat on Silkstone United 2nds at Furlong Road. Reece Gibson (41) and Nick Petty (43) put their side in a good position and Malcolm Day added an unbeaten 33 at the end as they were all out for 232. Jack Pepper (3-44) and Jack Durkan (3-19) were the most successful bowlers for the visitors, who were bowled out for 75 in reply, Robert Houghton taking 3-18. Keeper Charlie Whitehead (40) and Gavin Roebuck (32) scored upper order runs for Wath 3rds away to Eden Grove Parklands 2nds, but they were 105-9 when Kean Hill gave them a late boost with an unbeaten 30 at number nine, taking them to 139-9. Skipper Tilly Thomas (3-28) and Josh Burrows (3-12) then led the way as they bowled Parklands out for 66 in reply. Opener Cade Darwin (65) and skipper Richard North, with an unbeaten 46 off 26 balls at number nine saw Whiston Forge 2nds to 225-9 at home to Brookhouse 2nds, for whom Alexander Johnston took 5-51. Joshua Daly (3-38) and Mark Daly (3-26) then combined to help bowl the visitors out for 149 in reply. 
 
 
Sunday’s cup-ties 
 
On a remarkable day for the YCSPL, Wakefield Thornes beat New Farnley by seven wickets at Honley CC to win the Heavy Woollen Cup. Skipper Alex Lilley made 42 and Ryan McKendry 87 as the Bradford League side made 239-7 in their 50 overs, Matty Taylor taking 3-46 for Thornes. In reply, Kieran Donnachie (45), Joe Billings (82) and James Wolfenden (52*) were all amongst the runs as Thornes won with 3.4 overs to spare. 
 
In the area finals of the National club T20 Blast competition at the Eco Power Oval, Doncaster Town won through to reach the regional finals by beating Woodhall Spa of the Lincolnshire League by 74 runs in their semi-final. Harpreet Singh hit an unbeaten 109 off 57 balls as Town posted 180-3, then, with George Cowan (3-18) and Harsha Rajapaksha (3-3) to the fore, they bowled Woodall out for 106 in reply. In the final, Doncaster beat Cuckney of the Nottinghamshire League by six wickets. Six bowlers took wickets as Cuckney were restricted to 123-9, then Harpreet made 43 off 29 balls as Town knocked off the required runs in 14 overs. 
 
In the National club T20 Plate area finals, Ackworth won through to the regional finals by winning both their games in a three-team round-robin at Woodhouse Grange CC. They beat Bawtry with Everton by eight wickets after restricting them to 126-8, then Shinghi Masakadza hit an unbeaten 77 off 31 balls and Joshua Hen-Boisen 40 as Ackworth knocked off the runs with eight wickets and six overs to spare. Against Woodhouse Grange, Masakadza made 55 and Hen-Boisen 36 in Ackworth’s 178-6, then Bailey Matthews took 3-23 as Grange were restricted to 156-8 in reply.

In the K3 Dental Cup, Cawthorne beat Barnsley Woolley Miners in a thrilling game at Shaw Lane. Owen Smith made 35 and Stevie Walters 43 as the hosts made 219-8, Mike Jepps taking 3-38 and Archie Greaves 3-45. Greaves then made 88 off 56 balls, and with good support from Luke Ogden (33) and Thomas Jones, who made an unbeaten 36 at number nine, Cawthorne won by one wicket with three balls to spare. Boeta Beukes was the pick of the Barnsley attack with 3-29. 
 
In the semi-finals of the Mick Savage Trophy, there were wins for Penistone and Warmsworth. Penistone bowled Sheffield United out for 174 at Queen Street, Tom Exley taking 4-12, and the hosts then overhauled their target with three wickets and three balls to spare, Tom Read (59) and Charlie Armitage (40) putting on 101 for the second wicket. Upper Haugh were restricted to 151-6 by Warmsworth at Common Lane, Dean Smith making an unbeaten 55, then opener Siddharth Ahhuja made 50 to set the hosts on their way to a two-wicket win in the 38th over, despite Connor Sanderson’s 4-22 for the visitors.
