The postponed 2024 President’s Cup final, between Rockingham Colliery 2nds and Sheffield Collegiate 3rds, took place on Monday at Whiston Parish Church CC, and even though the weather tried its' best to once again to overshadow the occasion, a result was achieved.

Rockingham Colliery 2nds were asked to bat first, and were all out for 114, Andy Shore top-scoring with an unbeaten 41; whilst the wickets were shared by four Collegiate bowlers, and there were two run-outs.

Collegiate’s response was curtailed by the weather, and they were set a Duckworth Lewis target of 85 in 24 overs. Collegiate duly passed this target for the loss of one wicket in the 22nd over.

Our congratulations go to Sheffield Collegiate CC on adding another trophy to their cabinet, and our commiserations to Rockingham Colliery CC. Our thanks go to Whiston Parish Church CC, who did a splendid job of hosting the final; to both teams and the match officials for ensuring that a result was achieved, despite the efforts of the weather; and to all the spectators who made it a very good attendance in the circumstances.
