The Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Senior Section committee member Graham Swallow last Saturday.
Graham’s was a very well-liked and respected face in South Yorkshire cricket. His long playing career was almost exclusively with Elsecar CC, for whom he was a skilful and competitive opening bowler, one of that extinct breed who would bowl at one end throughout a 46-over innings.

After serving on the club’s committee, Graham became the chairman at Elsecar, and, after leaving the club he joined the committee of the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League. He then moved onto the YCSPL Senior Section committee, and even up to the week before he died, he was helping to organise this years YCSPL Presentation Dinner.

League Ambassador Terry Bentham, who had the privilege of umpiring Graham and working alongside him over many years, described him as being a ‘good and honest man’. The YCSPL will pay full tribute to Graham at an appropriate time.

A good man in every way, Graham will be badly missed by all who knew him. We send our most sincere condolences to his wife Betty, son Ainsley, daughter Rachelle, and to all his family and friends.

We ask people to respect the family’s privacy at this very sad time. Please send any further communications about the dinner to Roger Pugh
