Clubs' bulletin no 9 of 2026 - 10 July 

 

The recent Chance to Shine Skills Festival at Darfield CC has been covered by Cricket Yorkshire, and we thought that clubs might be interested to read the article. 

 

 

Following Sunday’s K3 Dental Cup quarter finals, the semi-finals, to be played on Sunday 26 July (12.30), are Cawthorne v Driffield; and York v Woodhouse Grange. 

 

The semi-finals of the Whitworth Cup will also be played on Sunday 26 July, and are Shiregreen v Elsecar; and Wath or Doncaster Town 2nds v Barnsley Woolley Miners. 

 

The final of the President’s Trophy will now be held at Whitley Hall CC on 30 August, not Wath CC as previously advertised. We would like to thank Whitley Hall CC for stepping in to host the game when the ground at Wath CC become unavailable. 

 

 

Clubs are asked to remind all their players and officials that discriminatory comments and insults of any nature will not be tolerated in the YCSPL. Anyone found to have conducted themselves in this unacceptable manner must expect to receive sanctions that are severe in nature. There is no place or excuse for conduct of this type and it will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form. It is the responsibility of all clubs to ensure that their players adhere to all relevant rules and regulations. 

 

 

At the EGM on 9 July, the Points Cap proposal was voted upon and passed by Premier & Championship Division clubs, by 13 votes to three, with two abstentions. It will now come into effect from the start of the 2027 season, subject to any amendments that may be agreed at this year’s AGM. A full note of the meeting, including the other items discussed, will be published in the next few days. 

 

 

Should the England football team reach the World Cup final, the game will be played next Sunday, 19 July, with a 20.00 kick-off. There are President's Trophy and some Senior Section games on that day, and we are happy for the clubs involved in these games to discuss between each other, after Saturday night, whether they would want to bring forward start times, or rearrange, in the event of England reaching the final. If both clubs agree that they would want to make a change to their fixture if this happens, please advise Richard North by mid-day next Friday to let him know what you propose to do. The last date for President's Trophy games to be played is 2 August (the week before the semi-finals). 

 

 

As we near the summer holidays, the Roses festivals will soon to be upon us. There are five festivals taking place across South Yorkshire over the next two months. These will help clubs in Premier & Championship Divisions to meet the ECB girls' teams requirement. The dates and venues are shown below. 

 

Last year there were over 120 girls participating in the South Yorkshire Roses festivals – YCF is aiming to beat that record this summer with our clubs’ support! To sign up to your desired festivals please enter your teams via these links:

Sunrisers Leeds and the international sides visiting Headingley are looking for net bowlers, on these dates and times. For each day they would like a mix of disciplines – right and left arm seam and all types of spin (seamers probably in greater number due to restricted workload). If your club have players who may be interested (Premier & Championship standard bowlers) who might wish to come along for some of the men's sessions as net bowlers. Hopefully this could be a great opportunity and experience for some of your players.

Following recent umpire feedback, clubs are asked to ensure that their groundstaff are aware that: 

 

• the popping crease markings should be a minimum of 12 feet in length 

• the return crease is at right angles to the popping crease, at a distance of 4 ft 4 in/1.32m either side of the imaginary line joining the centres of the two middle stumps; each return crease should be marked from the popping crease to a minimum of 8 ft/2.44m behind it and shall be considered to be unlimited in length. 

 

 

All player transfers for the 2026 season must be completed by midnight on 31 July 2026. 

 

 

The League under 23s team will play their annual game against an MCC XI at Washfield Lane, the home of Treeton CC, on Thursday 30 July. It is a red ball game – white clothing. The start time is to be confirmed, usually around 11am. If your club has any under 23s, who play in the Premier or Championship Divisions, and who are available to play, please nominate them by messaging Steve Ward (07919 241148) by Tuesday next, 14 July. Players not nominated by their club will not be selected.
