Clubs' bulletin no 6 of 2026 - 22 May
Cancellation prodecure – for action
Where a game is cancelled, it is important to ensure that the relevant umpires appointments officer is advised, in order that the umpires can be reallocated, and that if no umpires are appointed in the first place, the appointer knows not to reallocate any spare umpires to that game.
Fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK – for information
In an earlier bulletin, we encouraged anyone connected with the League to support this very worthwhile charity, which has a cricket-related link runs4research. We would like to thank those who have done so, and let everyone else know that the link is still open, in case they would like to give their support.
Handbook alterations – for information
On page 3, the date of the Presentation Dinners should read Friday 13 November
In the Competitions Rules section, the table at para 27 is incorrect. The correct version is in the online handbook.
#ItsOKToTalkT20 – reminder
2026 is about to be bigger than ever, as this year marks the inaugural women’s and girls’ #ItsOkToTalk cricket match. This game, aimed at increasing the awareness of mental health, will be held at Whiston Parish CC on Friday 5 June, with a start time of 18.00. The two teams will feature some of the best of the best women and girl players from around South Yorkshire in a competitive head-to-head fixture. Fabulously sponsored by the Mono Malo Small Plates Bar & Restaurant in Waverley, Rotherham, and The Printroom, Custom Print & Embroidery, Sheffield, the game promises to be an enjoyable evening of cricket for players and spectators alike. Everyone is welcome to come and watch.
Photography at games – for information
There was an incident last week where a press photographer was taking photos on a ground without informing or asking the home club. I have advised the newspaper in question that whilst we welcome press coverage, given today’s Safeguarding and GDPR sensitivities, they should contact the home club to check beforehand. The League’s official photographer carries League accreditation, and if a League official intends to take photos on a ground where we may not be known, we will contact the home club in advance.
Umpire issues – for action
League officials will be meeting with SYCUA officials in June. If you have any issues in connection with umpires that you would like us to raise, please contact Roger Pugh or Richard North.
Website – clubs & grounds directory – reminder
The Clubs & grounds section of the League website has been updated for 2026 to include our new clubs and new divisional allocations. But we need more information – in particular for ‘ground information’ (about facilities available for spectators) and ‘about us’ (club history or any information you’d like to share about your club). We also need photos and the year of foundation for some clubs. This is an opportunity to ‘sell’ your club.
If you have any information about your club for the directory, please contact Roger Pugh.
Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Holiday Camp – for information
The YCF has organised a holiday training camp for 8 to 11-year-olds at Conisbrough CC on 28th and 29th May.
YCSPL under 21s team - for action
The League under 21s team will play a Yorkshire under-18s side in a T20 game at Shaw Lane, Barnsley on Wednesday 3 June – 6.00pm start. If your club has any under 21s, who play in the Premier or Championship Divisions, and who are available to play, please nominate them by messaging Steve Ward (07919 241148) by Tuesday next, 26 May. Players not nominated by their club will not be selected.
