Clubs' bulletin no 11 of 2026 - 8 August 

 

Congratulations to Cawthorne CC on winning through to the K3 Dental Final, where they will play York CC on 30 August at Field Lane Wakefield. 

 

Congratulations too to Barnsley Woolley Miners and Shiregreen, who will contest the Whitworth Cup final at the Spinks Ground, Doncaster, on 16 August. 

 

Last Sunday, Frickley Colliery and Whitley Hall 2nds won through to the Mick Savage Memorial Trophy Final, which will be held at Darfield on 23 August. 

 

In tomorrow’s President’s Trophy semi-finals, Sheffield Centralians play Stocksbridge and Waverley host Sheffield Caribbean. We wish all four sides the best of luck. 

 

This Sunday, we wish the very best of luck to Cleethorpes in the ECB Vitality T20 Area Finals, where they will play Rastrick in their semi-final, and, if successful, face the winners of Wollaton v Woodhall Spa in the Area Final. 

 

Also on Sunday, in the first round of the ECB Vitality T20 Plate, Ackworth will be at home to Farnsworth of the Bassetlaw League, and we send of very best wishes to them also. 

 

The W&GL Softball 'Big Bash' days will be played on 6th September: 

 

• Division 3 @ Coal Aston 

• Division 2 @ Penistone 

• Division 1 @ Worsbrough Bridge 

 

 

Although the transfer window is now closed, we wish to remind all clubs that discussions with junior players about potential future moves must only take place when the junior player’s parent or legal guardian is present. 

 

In line with standard safeguarding policies and best practices, all communication regarding a junior player’s future or potential transfer must be directed through their parent or legal guardian. Engaging with a junior directly about their future intentions without an adult present is not only a breach of professionalism but also raises significant safeguarding concerns. Please ensure that all those in your club who deal with junior players are are aware of this protocol.

Luton Caribbean Cricket & Social Club are looking for an end of season friendly fixture in the Yorkshire area on the third or fourth weekend in September – a 40 over game on either Saturday or Sunday. They describe themselves as a strong to medium strength team who were Four Counties Cricket League Division 1 winners 2023/24 and fourth in 2025; currently they are top of the Bedfordshire invitation cricket league Division 1. If your club may be interested in a friendly game, please contact the secretary, Reuben Bailey. 

 

 

We would like remind clubs of the fixture dates for 2027 and remind them to start conversations with landlords, other sports clubs, etc, about ground availability. The fixture response portal will go live towards the end of September and we will include a link in the bulletin at the time. 

 

 

We are now turning our attention to the organisation of the League Presentation Dinner at the OEC Sheffield on Friday 13 November. This year promises to be an even bigger event than usual, with many prize-winners, and we would like to make it as enjoyable and efficient for everyone as possible. 

 

If you have been to previous dinners, and would like to feed any thoughts into our planning process – for example, anything you have particularly liked or not liked in the past, or suggestions for improvement – please contact Roger Pugh by 22 August. 

 

 

Saturday 29 August 2026 is the last day for this clubs to season register Loan Players. Loan players will only be allowed to play in the lowest team in any club. No loan players will be allowed in the Premier Section; in cup games, except for junior players who will be allowed to play in the President’s Cup and Billy Oates Memorial Cup. 

 

'Your Say' playing survey now open – reminder 

 

We encourage players and volunteers who make the game happen to take the opportunity of having their say in the 2026 ECB ‘Your Say’ survey. The survey takes around ten minutes to complete and closes on Sunday 16th August. It is broken into ten modules, which will appear based on the information you give in the ‘About You’ section. Other modules include Playing experience, Volunteering experience, EDI, Women's & Girls' cricket, Cricket Regulator, Recreational Digital Systems. 

 

To encourage completion, there are three prizes available as incentives for those that complete the survey. All respondents will automatically go into the prize draw to win £100 Love2Shop vouchers.

The League under 23s side put up a very good performance against a strong MCC side at Treeton last week and, by all accounts, they thoroughly enjoyed the game. We would like to thank Treeton CC for stepping in at short notice to host the game, and doing a magnificent job, and to League officials Jason Booth and Mick Forrester for their organisation and support on the day.
