Clubs' bulletin no 16 of 2025 - 5 December

2025 Annual General Meeting – for information

The notes of the meeting are now published here. The necessary alterations to the League rules will be completed in early January.

Fixtures – for information

The necessary information has finally been received from the P&DCL, and the Competitions Manager is working on the draft YCSPL fixtures for 2026. We hope to have this to clubs before Christmas.
We fully recognise, and are sorry for, the inconvenience to clubs with teams in other leagues, but as we have explained, this has been completely outside our control and we are addressing the issue as quickly as we can.
At this late stage, some fixture clashes are inevitable, and we ask that all clubs are as flexible as possible in helping other clubs to rearrange where necessary.
Cup draws will be made early in the New Year.

Scoring - for information

Please draw to the attention of all scorers the YCF ACO Winter 2025 scorers’ update

In addition, please note that:

YCSPL are offering Scorer Roadshows to all clubs, for prospective scorers to learn about Laptop and/or Tablet scoring, as well as the basic principles of scoring in a book. At present we have three roadshows booked:
Kirk Balk School, Hoyland , on Wednesday 18 February
Millhouses CC on Saturday 17 January and Monday 19 January.
More details and a booking link for the above will be sent to clubs soon. All will be free of charge. If you would like to host a roadshow or would like any advice on scoring/live streaming please get in touch with Steve Ward.
Please ask your scorers to contact Steve if they would like to be included in the scorers' WhatsApp group
Please check your clubs/scorers laptop - it needs to be Windows 11 (if it is Windows 10, the scoring software will no longer work).

If your club needs any help or advice on scoring matters please get in touch with Steve Ward.

Umpire recruitment - for action and information

The new sanctions to be imposed on clubs who do not recruit umpires, as announced in the AGM papers, do not come into effect until the end of the 2026 season. This means that the League treasurer will shortly be invoicing clubs for levy payments, as in the Administrative Rules currently online.

If any club believes that they should not have to pay the levy invoiced, they should contact the League chairman within 14 days of the date of invoice, giving full reasons. This includes clubs who believe that they have made every possible effort to recruit, but have been unsuccessful, in which case evidence of all recruitment activity must be provided. Recommended actions for clubs to take to recruit umpires are contained in new Admin Rules Appendix 9 on the website.

The ECB ACO have also asked us to stress to all our clubs:

the need for all clubs to contribute to the recruitment of scorers and umpires; just because a particular club has found an umpire for the panel in the past, does not mean that they should not continue helping us recruit more
clubs must support the YCSPL in their delivery of our recruitment activities
the appropriate pathway and training resources for scorers & umpires are accessible to any interested person, supported by the League, SYCUA and the ECB

Womens’ & Girls’ League - for action

The W&GL are seeking an Umpire Lead to coordinate everything umpire-related and manage WTU for their league. If you are interested in helping them out, please contact Liz Harris

We would like to wish everyone connected with our league – players, officials and spectators alike –
all the very best for Christmas and the New Year
