2026 Division 7 to 9 fixtures – need for action

On 29 October, we released the divisional allocations for 2026, including proposals for the regionalisation of Divisions 7 to 9 on a North and South basis. We subsequently received some negative feedback, both official and unofficial, about the proposed allocations in these divisions, primarily around the amount of travelling involved and the strength of the respective divisions. We have considered this feedback, and Matt Summerhill has offered to develop an alternative solution, which, instead of North and South regionalisation, would mean splitting each division into ‘Conferences A & B’. Each Conference would have a mix of new and old teams, share out the burden of travel, and provide a more even spread of team strengths.

We ask the existing YCSPL clubs with teams in Divisions 7 to 9 to consider the above, and at the AGM we will take a vote of those clubs on whether they prefer the original option, as in the Divisional Allocations paper, or a Conference system, as above, and we will go with the majority.

The YCSPL were represented at the Black History Month celebration event on Thursday 23 October, which was expertly hosted by our Equity & Diversity Group co-ordinator Jason Booth. It was an excellent event, both interesting and thought-provoking, and we encourage club officials and players to attend future events.
